I love PurlSoho. I have been a customer for several years and the Customer Service is consistently excellent. One note, if you send a non-product email (ex., a question about a pattern or help choosing colors or yarn), the response time is quite slow. However, the reply will be detailed in the best way! PurlSoho’s Customer Service consistently exceeds what I consider excellent customer service.

This review is about the less expensive Ball Winder and Umbrella Swift.
1) If you don’t know how to use a ball winder and swift, Purl Soho has a great and helpful video on their site. If you don’t want to buy more products, they also have helpful videos on how to unwind your skeins and ball them by hand.
2) You get what you pay for. I chose the less expensive winder and swift because the purchase was a treat rather than a necessity. The materials feel flimsy and I had a lot of issues with having to stop, undo, and then continue with each of the balls I’ve wound. I ended up using a few home hacks to make the winding smoother, but I would expect not to need hacks to make the products work. These are non-returnable items. I’m not sure I would buy them again given the lower quality and need for a few home work arounds to make them work properly, but they do wind balls so quickly and more nicely than doing them by hand.

Yarn is beautiful! Arrived quickly….and I was thrilled to received a promotional product to try!

I love all Purl Soho's yarns -- and their patterns. I have just finished a child's pullover using 2 kinds of cotton: Serif and Cotton Pure, and I loved both. The pattern, like all PS's designs, was clear and clean, and the results delighted my 4-yo great niece. I'm almost finished a second child's sweater, a cardigan this. time, using their merino Novello yarn in an heirloom white and a pretty self-striping colored yarn for the yoke. Again, a lovely pattern. You can ALWAYS rely on Purl Soho -- and their online videos for techniques are ouutstanding!

I feel like I always get good service with Purl Soho and happy with each and every yarn purchase. This time I bought Oleander and witch hazel to make a few purses and looking forward to using both of them.

I have had some issues getting good yarns lately. They seem to come from overseas and take forever to end up at my house. The people at Purl Soho were so helpful with my order, and I received it very quickly! Then I was able to download the pattern that I chose...for FREE. And even better, one of the instructions gave me pause. No problem. Went online and clicked on that instruction and a video popped up to show me exactly what to do. I am a forever fan!! Oh, and my project turned out beautifully. I did the saltwater scarf!!

I haven’t bought yarn from Purl Soho since they closed their NYC store. I forgot how wonderful their yarn is! I am so happy with the Cashmere Merino Bloom. It feels nice, and stitches so beautifully up. I will continue going forward to purchasing Purl Soho yarn.

Getting emails with a variety of projects is great. I do many complex projects. Then saw the bread dish towel. I needed an easy carry along item. This will be a Christmas gift for family and a few friends. Easy to order arrived quickly plus a sample of yarn.

I've been a customer of their yarn/patterns for a few years now, and I absolutely love their stuff! Beautiful patterns with intuitive instructions, and high-quality yarns (buy them on sale!). Excellent customer service, I had entered in a wrong shipping address, and they worked to re-ship my yarn to me free-of-charge!

My Linen Quill is gorgeous! Super soft, a bit rustic, perfect for my project (a self-drafted, top-down, drapey tunic), and even better than expected after seeing several raves by YouTube podcasters. Many new projects have come to mind. Plus, it arrived in less than a week (Canada) with a little Cotton Chirp. Very pleased.
