How does Rakuten work?
Getting Cash Back rewards from Rakuten is easy. Simply sign up for a free account, and then start shopping on the Rakuten website, through the Rakuten app, or by downloading the Rakuten browser extension. Money gets added to your Cash Back balance when you shop at an affiliate store. You can then get paid via PayPal or check. If it seems too good to be true, here’s how it works: Companies in Rakuten’s affiliate network pay us commissions whenever one of our members shops with them, and we share those commissions with you as Cash Back.

Download the browser extension, Rakuten Cash Back Button, if you want to stay up to date on all the stores you can earn Cash Back with. It will highlight available offers in search results and alert you to store sites that are part of the affiliate network.
When will I get Cash Back?
Rakuten members get their earned Cash Back every three months. Stores will verify with us that the order was complete when you purchase with them, which can take a few hours to a few days, depending on the store. Once the purchase is verified, we’ll let you know Cash Back has been added to your account. Any order that’s still pending on payday will be added to the next payment cycle.

I've used the Rakuten app for several years and love it. I do 99% of my shopping online so using the Rakuten app is a no brainer. I get paid quarterly just for buying things online. Who can argue with that?

Rakuten blocked my account and…
Rakuten blocked my account and suspended it just before it has to give me my cashback. I did major holiday purchases using the website and they have suspended my account and didn't give my cashback. There are other more trustworthy websites to use.

Wonderful company
I've used this company since they were ebates . Always been a nice surprise to get an extra couple of bucks quarterly. I always use this app when online shopping for the rebate and it will enter coupon codes if they're available . I always always use this app when shopping it's a win win

I love Rakuten
I love Rakuten! Sometimes my big fat checks are big and fat, sometimes they’re a little leaner but I always get excited when they arrive. There are so many store and sites I can shop at through Rakuten and the process is effortless. Admittedly, sometimes I forget to shop through the app and I’m kicking myself when I realize I left money on the table by not doing it! But I’m getting better. I’ve been using Rakuten for a few years now and encourage everyone to use it!

My account got suspended after my first confirmed cashback and before the payout. customer service is not willing to help and are not answering my questions.

Actual cash back!
Super easy to add the extension on your browser or app on your phone.
It's like throwing money away to NOT use this service if you ever shop online. As of today (Feb. 18, 2026) I've earned over$1,300 back (since I signed up a few years ago)

Rakuten is going downhill lately
Rakuten is going downhill lately; they are trying to steal as much cashback as they can.
They offer no explanation for rejecting so many orders.
They ask us to check for exclusions, and once we verify that we complied with every rule/exclusion, they finally say they can't explain why the cashback wasn't granted.
5 Walgreens orders were rejected or deemed ineligible, and multiple orders from other online retailers were rejected as well.
In order to check if the problem was from their end, I decided to run a test and buy from "Walgreens" while using another cashback service, and guess what? 6 successful orders and cashback were posted the next day!
I had issues on Rakuten with purchases from Walgreens, AliExpress, Michael Kors, Booking.com, Samsung, Skechers, etc. They literally robbed me of hundreds of dollars' worth of cashback.
Shame on them, especially when customers buy a product solely for the cashback offer.
Customer service is great with automated replies; they do not spend time understanding issues or figuring out solutions.
