Total garbage. I used it to call China. It worked for a few weeks before June 2026. Then all of sudden it stopped working: use the local number option, it was always busy tone. Wifi and mobile data calling never worked - the calls just exit automatically. I still have credit left in my account, guess it would be lost forever.

I installed Rebtel because I needed to call Denmark while I was in Indonesia.
The app indicated that I was making calls through Rebtel, so I naturally assumed the calls were being handled by their service.
What the app didn't clearly tell me was that it was routing the calls through my Danish mobile operator instead.
As a result, I have now been charged approximately 700 DKK in unexpected calling charges from my supplier.
Rebtel's explanation is that I should have enabled "Travel Mode."
My issue isn't that Travel Mode exists, it's that the app never gave me a clear warning before placing the calls through my mobile carrier.
There was no obvious message saying something like:
"This call will be placed through your mobile operator and may incur roaming charges."
Had I seen that warning, I would never have placed the calls, nor used their service.
Their customers service, wont take responsibility for this, and is not interested in taking ownership of this obvious bug.
I will report this to App Store, and I suggest everyone reading this does too. Im sure this voids Apple's ToS.

Solid 5 stars from me!
We travel fulltime and get data only SIM cards in each country and unable to make outgoing calls, which is an issue. For example, our travel insurance requirements is we must call immediately in the event of an issue, to ensure full coverage, then there the inability to call our bank etc etc. Rebtel has now bridged this gap 100% and I'm now able to make outgoing international calls at very low cost.
Fast sign up with excellent customer support. **TIP** During signup, turn off any VPN, turn off WiFi and use data only. You will need to receive a text to confirm your number you are registering.
Credit does not expire (12 months) just ensure the account is active.

Hi Mark, I have sent Nico the cross-referenced screenshots matching my Rebtel and native phone logs. I have requested that Rebtel accept this as a substantial substitution for a paper bill, as obtaining a paper record from GO Mobile Malta requires a costly notarized form. It is unfair to expect me to spend money on a notary to prove your app glitched. Nico has the numbers and durations on ticket #3610872; please issue the €37 refund.
CRITICAL UPDATE: Rebtel support (Shaira) is still refusing to refund my €37 under ticket #3611358. They are demanding a monthly PDF invoice as "proof," even though I have repeatedly explained that this is a Maltese PREPAID account with GO Malta, which does not generate monthly bills. My carrier requires me to hire and pay for a notary to sign an official form just to pull manual prepaid usage history. Rebtel is explicitly demanding that I spend more money on a notary than the refund itself is worth. They are hiding behind impossible paperwork barriers to avoid liability for their own app's technical dialing glitch. Absolute corporate scam tactics.
CRITICAL UPDATE (14 July): Rebtel is copying and pasting the exact same automated script over and over again on this review claiming they are "waiting for my response." I have replied to ticket #3610872 three times today via email. Your customer support agents are ignoring my incoming emails and hiding behind a broken script. I have already provided the technical details of the Malta-to-Canada routing glitch. Read my email replies on ticket #3610872 instead of pasting fake public responses.
UPDATE: Rebtel is playing a support loop game. They have repeatedly forced me to explain the exact same situation over and over again, only to demand paper invoices that do not exist for a Maltese prepaid account. They already have the call logs on their own servers. Stop asking me to repeat myself under ticket #3610872 and issue the €37 refund for your app's dialing failure.
UPDATE (14th July): Rebtel replied to this review 24 hours ago promising a resolution if I emailed them. I sent all details immediately under ticket 3610872. They have completely failed to respond within their stated 24-hour window. This public reply was clearly just a stalling tactic to look good on Trustpilot. Still waiting for my €37 refund for their app glitch.
Rebtel app routing failed on a call from Malta to Canada. Instead of routing through a local access number, a software glitch hijacked my native phone dialer and forced a raw international hook directly through my network provider (GO Malta). This completely wiped out €37 of my prepaid phone credit.GO Malta blocks direct international calling to Canada by default on prepaid accounts; the ONLY reason this went through is because Rebtel's app forced it. Now, Rebtel support has gone completely silent and is ignoring my emails because a prepaid account does not generate monthly PDF bills to show as "proof." They are hiding behind corporate bureaucracy to avoid liability for their own technical glitch. Appalling customer service.

My wife and I use the "pay as you go" plan. Before purchasing any credits we checked the rates. But it happened to both my wife and I that we only got half of the minutes as advertised.
For example, calls to Greece was advertised as "$5 for 50 minutes". But I got 24 minutes only. calls to China was advertised as "$5 for 333 minutes". But my wife got 172 minutes only.
Reaching out to support is a hit and miss. For example, my wife was able to get the promised 333 minutes after reaching out to support. I was told by the support that he's seeing 24 minutes as correct. I showed him the screenshot. He said he'd create a ticket for me. But no response since after. I had no choice but to request a refund.
Maybe it is just me. But the "Pay as you go" plan is always half promised.
Edit: 7/8/2026 I did contact Rebtel support (multiple times). All they said was - "will forward this to the backend team to research". Then no response at all. I would recommend other calling card companies like Boss Revolution. Boss Revolution honor their advertised rates and have a support phone number for you to call.
Edit 7/8/2026 (again):
It is funny that Rebel's respond here keeps telling me to contact support. What good it is if support just keeps stalling with no resolution? Please don't tell me to contact support AGAIN! Tell your support team to give me the minute you advertised!
Edit 7/8/2026 (3rd time):
Now I see. Nobody from Rebtel actual reads the review here. It is a robot who posts the same script whenever detects a low-star review or update. The script just tells you to contact support. They don't really care the complaint is about the non-responsive support.

Oh boy... I've used this company for years and everything was fine until I discovered that unauthorized calls are charged to my account. I don't even understand how this was possible because I linked the account to specific phone numbers. How did people started calling all over the world with my account?
And when I contacted them about it they kept on asking for more and more information, repeating previous request and asking for information that they should already know. This was never ending.
When I asked to cancel my account and purge my information, another unending loop of questions began. I'm still waiting for resolution.

They offered a package to call to Pakistan unlimited for €13 per month. Unlimited without any catch so I taken up the package and used the offer almost 20 days. Not that the service was very good as the call often lay dropped and at times I had to dial 20 times to get connected for once. Despite of this struggle I tried to make full use of the bought package and called for about 5-6 hours over every 24 hours window. After 20 days I was banned from the application and couldn’t log in. Upon querying with them via email I was told it was automatically banned due to a breach of usage. Not told what exactly did I do wrong as I was only making calls to my wife on Pakistan!! I was advised to sign up with a new account and of course my residual credit would be lost. I thought not to argue and sign up under new account. I realised the unlimited calling package was no longer existed and now they were charging €12 for only 250 minutes. I realised why they initially banned me because I was making full use of the package of inlimited calls. This apparently they didn’t find suitable and banned me where I lost remaining 10 days of the month package which was already paid for. Very useless support team in not assisting to resolve the matter and of course not recommending Rebtel to anyone.
As a response to below reply from Rebtel, I wanted to bring it to everyone’s attention not to be fooled by their refund message. They have refunded €1.10 even though my purchased services were terminated by Rebtel 13 days prior to the end of contract (43% of unused days). Secondly, I encourage all to use TrustPilot and other platforms to post reviews as refund was not offered to me when I was discussing the matter with Rebtel team directly. Only when I posted here they mentioned about the refund as a coverup.
I see Rebtel again reworded their response so here is the case number 3604015 as requested and I look forward to see your updated response.

Just a total scam. You top up money on the account then it turns out you need to subscribe to actually make calls. No refunds. Just sends you to a bot that goes in circles. Scam.
