I've been paying for my son to learn…
I've been paying for my son to learn how to play the keyboard for a year now at nearly £50 per month. I got a keyboard out of the spare room last weekend and a music book to go with it. He looked horrified. He's never seen musical notes and asked what they were. Just what have this company been teaching my son for the past year?. It seems they pick a some and teach the children different parts of songs with different instruments and then put them together to do a performance.
There isn't any instrument learning at all. Don't waste your money. It honestly isn't worth it.

Rocksteady teaches children to play music together as a band by focusing on fundamentals such as timing and synchronisation, alongside introducing instrument technique and performance skills. This approach teaches music as a language through listening and playing, rather than through traditional music theory or notation, which is what makes it accessible and engaging for all children - regardless of previous musical experience.
By learning alongside their bandmates, children not only build musical skills but also develop confidence, teamwork and social skills that go well beyond the instrument itself. Working through a unique curriculum of up to 300 instrumental, musicianship and performance skills, all Rocksteady children also have the opportunity to achieve an exam-free music qualification, accredited by Trinity College London.

unprofessional and not consistent experience
band leaders consistently fail to attend the classes leading to them having to be rescheduled and provided by cover teachers. they definitely don't progress as much as they could and then you have the leader saying they didn't have much opportunity to practice when they do their shows. Very unprofessional. nice for kids to have a first contact with the different instruments but don't expect more than that.

Pleasure and confidence
My two boys absolutely enjoy their music sessions one paying guitar and the other keyboard. Since playing they are more confident and the concerts giving them excitement of great achievements and belief that by practicing great results are seen!

My Grandson has been part of Rock…
My Grandson has been part of Rock Steady for some while.
He throughly enjoys it and loves performing in the end of term concerts when we as parents/carers get a chance to see all his progress as do all the children and teachers at school, it’s always a happy event!
The tutor Jacob is particularly brilliant and his enthusiasm, encouragement, support and care for the students is particularly outstanding!
He commands respect without any need for unnecessary firmness as he engages the children in such a way they remain focused.
I find Rock Steady a company easy to deal with and quick to respond if I have a query.

My daughter attends Rocksteady, she’s gained so much confidence during this time outside and inside school all her teachers noticed the difference in her. Tom has been incredible with helping my daughter with her nerves when she is performing he has an amazing way with the kids and I cannot fault his energy that he brings for all the kids.

Rocksteady truly go above and beyond in helping children grow in confidence through playing in a band. It’s become something my kids genuinely look forward to every single week.
After years of being part of the programme, I recently experienced some financial hardship and reached out to customer services. They were incredibly understanding and supportive, offering a bursary until the end of term. This made an unbelievable difference to my children’s wellbeing and meant they didn’t have to miss out on something they love.
I’m so grateful for their kindness and commitment; not just to music, but to the children and families they support. Highly recommend!

Learning something they want to learn!
My son has been going to RockSteady sessions since January - he missed the first term due to needing some surgeries. Customer service was amazing, they were kind and caring, and refunded our tuition fees without us even asking - they called to check up on our son’s progress before restarting our direct debit. Now to the sessions - our son loves them! he’s not just learning lyrics and how to perform them, he’s made new friends, he’s learning how to work with the rest of the band for the best sounds, he’s learning to listen (!!) and he’s learnt to believe in himself! We watched our first concert today - all of the bands did amazingly, the energy of the teacher (Duncan), the smile on their face watching their bands perform and they way they communicated with each child totally warmed my heart! Our son and his band were up last, and to see our boy and his friends loving performing and oozing with confidence is so nice - school is hard, the pressures of growing up are hard, and this gives them all the freedom to be themselves, and to learn something because they want to learn it… Highly recommend!!

An Unforgettable First Concert 🎤
It was truly amazing to watch my son Amman perform in his first concert and see how well he did.
His confidence has already grown so much , and I am certain that with Daz's continued encouragement and support, he will keep improving and shinning in future performances.
I honestly can't describe my feelings seeing Amman singing — it's such a proud and emotional moment for me. I would love to see Amman become a singer one day.

Amazing way of teaching the youth how…
Amazing way of teaching the youth how to adapt and to navigate their emotions through music! It brings something to them they can take home, on holiday, in fact anywhere! Rocksteady brings consistency to the week where they can just be in that moment, the music. It also gives them an opportunity to be in a band. They perform through out the year which is fantastic! I really enjoyed yesterday's concert at…Colney Heath
I really enjoyed yesterday's concert at Colney Heath School with Daz. My daughter has been in every concert since Rocksteady started at the school and I think this was probably the best one so far. She swapped from bass to drum kit and it was great to see her so confident and clearly enjoying performing to the school (she can be very anxious when lots of poeple are watching her in some situations). The one area that I think could be improved is the general performance level of the singers in the bands. Some singers are confident but are very out of tune and some children just don't seem to know the pitch shape of the melodies. My daughter's band has a more able singer which holds the structure together better.
