The dark ages of banking

A good website. But ISA transfers are done as they were in the dark ages: if you want to transfer your ISA to another provider, SAGA require your signature and not a lot of banks realise this. When SAGA eventually do the transfer, they send a cheque to your new provider. Yes, a cheque. My transfer is still not complete after 10 weeks.

Not easy at all

Created an account, which was straightforward
I was unable to verify details with my Bank
The Bank confirmed this happens occasionally with on-line accounts, however I was not reassured
Decided to make a small transaction and yet it would not go through
Will go with another savings provider

Easy to set up

Easy to set up. The instructions clearly state that your linked account will not be able to verify a Saga account and sort code. Transferred £1 from a linked account and it was in my new Saga account in 5 minutes.

Simple and easy

Simple, easy to sign up and so far so good. I have been with Saga before and only left when the interest rate dropped. Cheers guys.

Overall Good Experience

Overall Good Experience. The account was easy to open and funds are moved and updated quickly. The online service is clear and easy to use. The interest rates are OK - not the best, but not too far off.
The downsides are:
- The use of 'bonus rates' .. why bother ? just another thing to remember, just update the rates with whatever best can be offered - it is a variable account after all.
- The 100k limit is not enough - the reason for 4 stars not 5. Sure the FSCS guarantee is only 85k, but competitors such as Paragon have a 500k limit.
So only useful for medium savings.
