Never, ever again Santander
In our experience, Santander insurance is nothing but a fraud, and the only reason the company hasn't been bankrupted with lawsuits is the ineffective Spanish legal system, and the laws/regulations tailored specifically for corrupt companies to rip customers off without a consequence. In our dispair to seek help with a massive water leak, which was clearly out of our control, and one that rendered our bathroom unusable, we were let down in the most hurtful way possible, firsts they downplayed the urgency then ended up blatantly ignoring our claim for months, despite hundreds of calls, messages, and emails. I talked with dozens of similar victims who were ripped off the same way: support is either unreachable and purposely unhelpful, they always claim the damages were our fault, the "process" drags on for months, overall, bleeding customers out and into covering their own damages. After our experience, we concluded that the only reasonable strategy is to stay away from Santander in every way possible.
Terrible service Santander/Aviva home insurance claim
Do not purchase a Santander home insurance (via Aviva claims). It will be a waste of your time. Please don’t bother trying to claim on your policy if you have one. Many hours wasted!
a) The Online claim system doesn’t work. My details were correctly entered, but - Data not valid!!
b) Although the call service centre phone operators are pleasant and efficient, getting to the aviva home claims team is impossible. I tried to contact to progress a claim 5 times today to be put onto a music waiting line then nothing. Just Ignored.
Recently totalled my jeep which was…
Recently totalled my jeep which was financed by Santander and only had 1.5 yrs till payoff. No customer service help at all how they processed the claim since it was a total loss. Every time I called before this even happened and spoke with someone at customer service I was never pleased with the out result for this I'm giving them a one-star because they need to learn how and what customer service is all about.
Wife lost a ring while on holiday
Wife lost a ring while on holiday. Put a claim in and went through a series of questions over a number of days. As it was not specified they reduced the replacement of the ring by two thirds. After some calls and further delibrations we said we would accept the offer only to find out it would be a voucher and we had to use it in a specific shop. I ask for a cash settlement only to be told that this offer was £600-00 less than the voucher. I politely told them where thy could put it don’t get involved with them it’s a v ripoff.
Price increase
Crazy annual price increase made me look elsewhere, found a better deal for less that I was already paying. They answered the phone quickly and didn't try to haggle so I give them and extra star for letting me leave easily.
Just rang them up as there trying to…
Just rang them up as there trying to cancel my insurance, tried to speak openly to them and state one of there staff members confirmed I didn’t owe anything on my policy it was paid, but apparently not, they’ve lacerated a final payment out of no where and given me 2 days to pay it or my policy is cancelled !! Crap company, crap customer service and then hung up on me. Glad I’m done. Customer service has been dreadful from day one ! One off payment for me in the future WITH A DIFFERENT COMPANY
Increased home insurance policy by 45%…
Increased home insurance policy by 45% !! No explanation
My circumstances all the same no claims ( ever ) and same house etc
Not happy
Will leave
Please steer clear of these for finance
Considering your trust pilot score is 1.2 I agree with all everyone has put here.
Completely incompetent company!
No contact whatsoever from them and you are the one always chasing for information, happy to ask best way to contact you when you ring but don’t follow through and you’re lucky to get any information from them.
Taken this car and refuse to help during hard times and then STOLE the entirety of everything that was inside reducing value of the car as no logbook, missing dash cam £200+ and GDPR info.
Happy to charge you extra for the pleasure of being with them.
Stay well clear of this company!!
Watch out for their sneaky automatic renewal policy…
Watch out for their sneaky automatic renewal policy buried deep in their terms and conditions. Everything is communicated up until this point by email or through the online portal but the automatic renewal notification is sent by post !! I cancelled on the day that it renewed (they told me by email the night before and it was a Sunday night so I could not phone them to cancel) and was charged £25 cancellation fee ! This is a dirty practice and it's typical of Santander living up to their poor reputation. Avoid !
Don't go with Their Car Insurance
This is to do with Santander Car Insurance, if you need to cancel then it will hit you in the wallet. I had my first Month payment go out, then had to sell my car and they charged me £50 admin fee (fair enough I thought) - however they added a further £101 on top, absolutely disgraceful, so if you are thinking of selling your car before you take out their insurance think again.
Stay away from these at all costs
Stay away from these at all costs. Absolutely useless. Agreement was paid in full and it took nearly 3 weeks and several phone calls and an email complaint to get a clearance letter issued I still do not have it and it is not showing as cleared online even though they have had my money for nearly 20 days!!!
They cut you off on the phone when they do not want to deal with you too.
I would love to place minus stars
I would love to place minus stars, SANTANDER ALLOW FRAUD! A fraud account was set up by Santander and allowed over drafts to be created and money removed from accounts. After contacting and being told account will be closed and no charges will be held against my partner, we received further letter asking for monies taken to be repaid. They broke GDPR when discussing the account with me at their own admission of which I have call recordings. DO NOT USE THIS BANK!! They have allowed a new fraudulent account to be opened, agreed an overdraft and then failed to close the account once contacted.
Customer service is horrible if you…
Customer service is horrible if you want to speak English. I was passed around about 8 people over the course of 1 hour+. Each time I get through, the agent didn't speak English so transferred me to someone else, I waited for another 20 minutes and repeated the cycle. When I was put through to an English speaker, they weren't in the right department, so transferred me again, to a non English speaker to start the cycle again. I have not been able to make a claim and there doesn't seem to be any way to do this online, without making a phone call. Why is it so difficult?
Had a good experience with Santander…
Had a good experience with Santander card services. They couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful.
Probably why I’ve been with them for years.
QUICK TO TAKE SLOW TO RETURN
I am owed over $2000.00 for an overpayment that occurred over 3 years ago after a payoff. Emails to their “unclaimed property” department go unanswered. Calls to customer service are equally unproductive…..they just recite that processing can take 24 weeks! Why? I’m certain it doesn’t take them 24 weeks to repo a car after a few missing payments. Why wasn’t this money sent to my state unclaimed property after 4 years. These people and their practices really need to be investigated. I am so frustrated!
Avoid at all cost!
Avoid at all cost!
Marketing team deceives customers, then loses in "court" (finansklagenemda), promises to follow up the verdict, but then ignores part of the verdict to avoid paying back a few hundred NOK.
Customer service caries defensive…
Customer service caries defensive energy from one customer to another, I'm assuming. I got an offer which I don't care for anymore, because I've been given false information on the phone considering kredittsjekk and been talked down to by simply being curious, so I'm not surprised if other customers lost their marbles as reviews below suggest. Most definitely, customer service doesn't have overall decent working conditions provided by the employer.
The company is just a complete scam!
The company is just a complete scam!! I canceled my Gap insurance 1 year after I purchased a vehicle, and went with another company who had better rates. Santander received a credit statement and had to write me a check or issue a statement credit, but they just stole $500 from me, making me pay interest on them for another 3 years. When my car was paid off, they sent me a $27 check for unused Gap. All my attempts to prove that it was canceled in 2017 failed, they even ignored a letter from my Gap company confirming the cancelation.
CS is utterly an absolute shame for this company
Its a shame to say Santander is a bank but yet has what I believe only “one” person working in their entire customer service dept. Otherwise I would not be waiting on the line for now almost a good 26mins.
When it comes to overcharging customers with interests and surcharges that is done automatically. Mind you made my last contact and closing off my account.
😏
Santander has stolen £6000 from me
Santander has stolen £6000 from me, and the cannot be bothered to contact me. Steer clear.
