Promised me two things one being a tracking number for my case. They couldn’t even do that. A.I already has more social skills than this entire team. It’s like talking to a brick wall. When they don’t feel like solving the issue they just drop calls n hand you off to the next guy and the cycle starts over

Bought 4 external hard drives early…

Bought 4 external hard drives early December 2025 and now they're just over 5 months old. Noticed one kept disappearing from windows explorer and I decided to unplug the power adapter. As I touched the power block, I saw a spark from the top of the block where the cable is connected.

Contacted Seagate who initially said the power adapters are an accessory and not covered by warranty. Then my proof of purchase was not satisfactory, although it showed the date, order number, item purchased, company it was purchased from and the purchase price.

2.5 hours on chat trying to get out of replacing. They also said they only replace hard drives, where my hard drive works fine

Told they'd be in contact in 24-48 hours.

Won't be holding my breath.

They said the data cannot be recovered by them but if i pay it may still be there. I am not entitled to replacement or refund. DISGUSTING! DO NOT BUY

Maybe impossible to contact product support.

A couple of years ago, I purchased an external drive. It has been functioning perfectly, actually, even at this time, however it generates a pop up notice that says "disc not properly ejected" even with no attempt to eject. I have spent HOURS in researching self support for the the issue plus HOURS for contact information with Seagate. Telephone number 1-800-732-4283 produced no contact during working hours listed....
When this external drive ceases to be effective, I will NOT buy another Seagate product, and I am good with that.

Still no invoice after delivery and no reply from support

I ordered 3x 4TB hard drives from Seagate, received the disks, and still did not receive the invoice or receipt.

This is a company purchase, so the invoice is required for accounting and tax declaration. I have already contacted Seagate three times about this issue. This review is now my fourth attempt to get the invoice.

I also tried to use the support page repeatedly from different computers and browsers, with and without cookies, and it still did not work. after that, and after several ignored contacts, it is hard not to feel like customers are being blocked from getting basic post-sale support.

Today is march 20, 2026 (nearly a month after my purchase) and this is still unresolved. Seagate took payment, delivered the order, and still failed to provide the BASIC receipt for a business purchase.

If this is not resolved now, my fifth step will be legal action!

Bought drives directly on their website, never again!

Bought 2 new drives, directly on their website. Very very very poor packaging. Like one of the drives even fell out of their (unlabeled) cardboard box. If I haven't bought directly from the company's website I'd be honestly questioning whether the product is even genuine.

Anyhow, no surprise after the packaging that one of the drives was defective. Didn't even boot.

Reached out to the team to get a replacement. Thought because I bought directly with them that it'll be easy peazy. Well, quite the opposite....

They want me to pay for the return of the product, the they will send me a REFURSBISHED replacement product. Instead of my brand new drive!

I would recommend people to buy via a reliable reseller, and DO NOT order directly from the Seagate website.

DO NOT PURCHASE!!

In December, I purchased an 8TB Seagate HDD. I put 7.5TB of data on it and it died 35 days later - data was not retrievable and drive was clicking. It was kept inside a desktop machine.

When removing the drive (context, I work with IT hardware), the back SATA connector plastic broke off and the supplier told me I couldn't return it, because of physical damage. I lost 7.5TB of data and $300.

So I purchased another 2 20TB Seagate drives, both external HDD with an enclosure. This time, I decided to put the data on one drive and make a mirror copy of the other, as I purchased the first drive on Jan 19 and it already made strange sounds. So I purchased a backup on Jan 29 and it ALSO made strange sounds.

I put the backup in cold storage. I kept the original. It didn't have much usage. Today, March 1, the drive has already started to fail. I'm not surprised.

20 years ago, I would praise Seagate as the only brand I trust. Today I'd say they are as reliable as a Maxtor drive, great paperweights in an age where we no longer rely on paper.

Product OK-ish, but no support email, and no help from management.

I have had a number of Seagate external drives, and two of them stopped working some time ago, so I thought I would try to recover them.
I have been unable to find an email address for customer support, so I wrote to the CEO multiple times without any response.
I also wrote to the CTO without any response.
The drives still spin up - but no data comes out, so I suspect the Seagate interface is faulty, and the drives OK, but it would be nice to have some help, rather than the rudeness being encountered.

Tech company we should all avoid...!

Having ordered a couple of Ironwolf drives for a new NAS, which were listed as 'In Stock' at the point of ordering. I queried why they hadn't been dispatched after a few days of inactivity, and then 2 days later I get an email saying my order has been cancelled for unforeseen circumstances. Not sure what those circumstances could have been as the items are still showing as 'In Stock' but of course the price has since gone up (presumably due to the AI pandemic!). This was my first and last experience dealing with such a terrible company. I can only assume they're one of Trump's little hero companies...with zero customer service and zero accountability...!!

Bought a 5TB Seagate basic 1 year ago

Bought a 5TB Seagate basic 1 year ago, today it started to fail:
- SeaTools Long Generic failed
- Windows logs show I/O retries / paging operation errors
- Reproducible on multiple PCs/ports
So I tried to contact the customer support as the drive is still under warranty. I went to their contacts page where it starts to display the different languages you can contact them in, yet, and this is the crux: the contact details are blurred out, so they is NO WAY TO CONTACT THEM.
It's unbelievable really. These guys are crooks. Don't buy from them!

Do not purchase any product from this company they do not warranty there products

I bought a storage drive for my Xbox but my console wouldn’t even register it. So I had it looked at and the drive is a 5tb drive but the internal component said it was only a 500gb drive. When I mentioned that they confirmed it they said that since the internal drive isn’t matched to the case it voids my refund. And it had a red x on the component. So basically they put the wrong component in the case and sold it to be then said sorry that’s not the right component in the case so we can’t refund you.

STAY AWAY FROM SEAGATE/LACIE!

Our company bought a new Lacie BigDisk as RAID. It damaged our company. It randomly ejects itself and this damaged all the companies files. Luckily we had a cloud as spare backup. The support wanted us to update the firmware which we did, did not work. Then they emailed us a document to returned it which we did with all documentations in the box.
Nothing happneds so we contacted them. ”The case is terminated”.
Why? No explanation and the Big disk was not to be found!
They found it and then they said – the disks must be included and send us proof of shipping. (Proof they got)
-No way we will send our entire company around the world and nor would LaCie/Seagate do it. We also need the disks for work and look what happend so how can you suggest such a stupid idea and besides you write on your support page that this is a firmware issue.
And also this problem is well-known with just a Google search.
No answer, just that they will return the useless Big Disk.

HD ordered through amazon was faulty. They repaired it but it was still crashing (+crashing my MAC). 9 Months on and they are 'repairing' it a second time - but I would never trust it for backing up on

Underhanded or Incompetent, Avoid Regardless

I attempted to purchase 4 IronWolf Pro 20TB (ST20000NT001) at $379.99 each. Four days later I received an email stating my "order was unable to be fulfilled due to unforeseen circumstances." I reached out to support. They offered no explanation or remedy except that I try placing another order. The drives now cost $419.99. I immediately deleted my account on seagate.com. I will never do business with this company again.
