Our family bought a chair for €4600…

Our family bought a chair for €4600 from seating matters. Our mother became bed bound within a week or two of the chair arriving and passed away shortly after. The chair is still laregly in its packaging (plastic bags around the cables, booklet tied to it etc) but Seating Matters aren't interested. They say these chairs are specifically made to fit certain dimensions and there are no refunds. they advise putting on done deal, ebay etc.

I don't know about you but's not okay in my book to charge vulnerable people this amount for a chair (or anybody really) and then be so inflexible.

The man turned up as invited to my mums…

The man turned up as invited to my mums care home on time and from the off showed a great level of product knowledge and respect of the situation we were in. He listened and advised on the right chair and was able to answer all of my questions with ease. We put mum in the test chair and she fell asleep almost immediately which spoke volumes for her comfort in the product, I could see that although the product is costly, it will make a difference in the day to day well being if my mother. Dulta was kind enough to have a laugh with us during the fitting and this gave us confidence to his ability to deal with us both professionally as well as a human, I didn't feel he was selling a product but was providing a valued service and he added us calmness to a potential stressful situation for mum. Have now placed the order and know upon his return, without me there he will make sure everything is right for mum during delivery and fitting and I have great confidence the product being a simple costly chair will make a huge difference to the future and well being of my mums life. Great to meet him and have no hesitations to promote the product and service noting him directly and can say the team around supporting him are all equally as good. Roll on delivery day

My husband age 80 has severe…

My husband age 80 has severe Alzheimer’s and is a resident in the dementia unit of a local Care Home. He’s immobile and cannot weight bear. We were fortunate to be given the use of an incredible wheelchair that had been custom built by the family of the previous occupant. My husband is 6’4” and weighs 15 stone so a substantial chair is essential. Sadly the front wheel broke rendering the chair useless my husband was restricted to bed or an armchair in his room. The local wheelchair repairer vowed the chair irrepairable but I refused to believe it. After many hours trawling the web I was beginning to think the verdict was correct and I began to race myself to place an order for a new chair at vast expanse. But to my amazement the guy who had claimed the chair couldn’t be repaired had made contact with your dad company. A phone call later I was invonversatwith your colleague Annie and appointment was made for Connor to visit the Care Home the following week. Connnor arrived at the and asked politely whether he had been called to assess my husband for a new chair or repair the existing one. I asked him if it was repairable. “Yes of course it is” he replied. “I can do it immediately”. And he did! He had the right castor and the right tool to do the job. This amazing charming young man efficiently saved this throne of a wheelchair from being scrapped and brought to an end a week of anxiety from me. I couldn’t be more grateful. My husband was hoisted into his chair and looked relieved to be comfortable again after a week of isolation in his room. Thank you for sending me the services of the courteous and thoughtful Connor. If ever I need help again I’ll be back to your company and screaming for Connor

Seating Matters: The Phoenix Chair

My 49-year-old sister had a debilitating stroke ten years ago, resulting in weakness/paralysis/spasticity of the left arm and leg. After a lengthy hospitalization and rehabilitation she came home and discovered she could not sleep in a regular bed or sit in a regular chair. Since this time she has spent her days and nights in various recliners. Some were purchased in regular furniture stores, others from medical supply stores supposedly offering more options (motorization, support etc.). The chairs were expensive, uncomfortable and really offered no support. One of the biggest problems was she kept ‘slipping down’ in the chair requiring caregivers to pull up 200+ pounds multiple times a day. Skin pressure issues were also developing and getting harder to manage.

We began searching for other alternatives in medical supply stores and websites. One day, an Internet search, popped up the Seating Matters website. These chairs looked like nothing I had ever seen before. I called and Stephanie and Danny listened to our needs and asked all the right questions. It was decided the PHOENIX chair would be best option and it’s been life changing for not only my sister but also for her caregivers. She is more comfortable, sleeps longer, bottom pressure has been relieved and she is more independent. The fully motorized chair allows greater comfort/mobility with the forward tilt, removable footrest and adjustable head/upper body support systems. The removable footrest allows her to push herself up in the chair and the forward tilt allows her to situate her bottom into the back of the chair when tranferring from the wheelchair, solving the slippage issues.

The PHOENIX chair arrived fully assembled in a very well packed box in perfect condition ready for immediate use. The chair is also very easy to clean, super easy to move about and we appreciate the flame-retardant cushions as my sister smokes. All adjustments to the chair are simple and can be done without tools. Danny and Stephanie at Seating Matters have been very helpful and extremely easy to reach via email/phone/text for any questions. Thank you Seating Matters!!!

Excellent service made process very easy

Just wanted to say that the service we have received in getting a chair for my mum has been excellent.
Neil came to see Mum in the nursing home and spent time showing us the chair and explaining all the features.
He worked with the care staff to get Mum hoisted into the chair to check it was right for her needs.
Once the order was placed he arrange for it to be delivered to his office for assembly and then delivered it to the nursing home at a time convenient for myself. He spent time explaining to one of the carers how to adjust the chair and made sure we were all happy.
He could not have been more helpful and made the process very easy.

A 5* experience.

Our Mum was assessed for a chair yesterday by Curtis. He met me and my sister at her Nursing Home.
We weren't sure what to expect but Curtis explained everything to us very clearly. He is not only very knowledgeable but was so professional, sensitive and reassuring to our Mum's medical situation all at the same time.
Although our Mum is easily confused, he took his time to explain and include our Mum at all times.
After our session with Curtis, it was the first time in 15 awful months that we could see a future for our Mum that would allow her to leave her bed.
Curtis is a total asset and credit to Seating Matters.
A huge thank you all round.
