Communication is appalling and…

Communication is appalling and information provided incorrect resulting in massive stress and potential tax implications. They are not share experts and seem novice in their understanding of their own platform! You’re better off with a broker you can actually ring /sit down with and who can give you information you can rely on!

I’ve used Sharesies since they started

I’ve used Sharesies since they started. It’s great being able to access so many share types. I see the main complaint people have written about is getting your money out fast after sales. If this is important then I reckon you should use a savings account with a bank. I don’t use the savings account much but when I do it’s for money that I have for shares, just haven’t made my mind up what to buy. I have always thought of Sharesies as a long term slow investment tool. Having said that I have taken some money out and it was only about three or four days to clear. And I’ve asked then questions plenty of times and had prompt replies.

Convenient Entry to Share Diversification for Beginners

After using Spaceship and Raiz since 2018 to 'dip my toe' in the water of investing, I started to gain an interest in taking more control over my stocks.
I started using Sharesies seriously a couple of years ago. I like the fact I can put small amounts into speculative penny stocks, while also putting larger investments into lower risk companies in a way that matches my weekly wallet and interests. I'm now invested in over 50 different companies, with amounts varying between just a few dollars and hundreds.
I've been in touch with support several times as I've helped set up other family members, confirmed ID's, asked questions, or sent feedback. They've always been very fast and helpful, with replies in as little as 10-20 minutes in some instances.
I also use Commsec for some bigger purchases, but their platform is complex for beginners, and I much prefer the clean layout and low buy-in options of Sharesies; I'm happy to pay slightly higher fees for the convenience, and ease of use of long-term lower-value investments for diversification. It's also a better investment than a lottery ticket. I'm on the Sharesies $5 monthly plan which also lowers the fees.

Super expensive

Super expensive, when you search the companies, it doesn’t provide you any fundamentals, how do you mean to buy shares without knowing the numbers. Never again.

Useless app and it takes a bloody eternity to get your own money out of these guys after performing a transaction. The transaction fee is sky high too. Literally a waste of an app. I won’t recommend anyone to use their app.

A disgraceful business.

A disgraceful business.
They have promised to call me over 5 days now and failed. They have even asked me when to call and I have told them 5 times today. The money and time this episode has and is costing me, including the stress and waiting for the bloody call is outrageous.
They are adding insult to injury. The injury being their failure to accept buy orders due to their service failing and then ignoring me totally for 5 days now other than promising to call and not etc.
i will not rest until I bring these shysters to book. with all the publicity I can.
In addition the shysters make you put the money in your wallet when you make an order with no interest if it is an ongoing order. They could obviously ringfence the money in the saving account, but of course they make millions by not doing this. What a totally sh-t- company

Rubbish

Absolute rubbish, have invested in 2 different companies. I always watch the live feeds on investing.com and I can tell you Sharesies makes up their own charting times that don’t match all other marketing live feeds. Note the queues you have to deal with when investing is really irritating. You don’t really make profits here but small loses 🤦🏽‍♀️

Very expensive, hard to get your money back, and terrible support

Crazy expensive fees scheme compared to any real broker, we're talking 10 times higher! Almost scammy. Hidden fees. Terrible service, if you're lucky you get some anonymous and useless generic answer via email. Limited tools. Dividends taxes are broken and messy tax report.

And good luck with getting your money out of there, they'll do everything in their power to block you. Easy to get in, very hard to get out. I'm pulling out everything from there (though it's taking me weeks on fighting them).

Your typical "100% Kiwi owned" business model.

I had almost 20K in there, never again.

I had almost 20K in there, went to do a few trades and learned pretty quick that Sharsesies is an absolute sh-show for the ages,
with nice a nice pretty colour scheme.
they need to stick to car insurance and kiwisaver.

You can't even call them lol.

They have a wholesale broker in the US anyways, it's just a white label for that... who is hopeless.

Awful organisation. They charge you through the axxe to change your money from AUD to NZD then on top of that they sting you with a crappy FX rate.

Do not give your money to these clowns

Do not give your money to these clowns. No customer service, no phone number. You have questions about your account and they just don't answer the emails ever. It left me with no choice but to pull out and go with another kiwisaver provider.

Awful

They keep our money 48 hours after selling the asset for funny reasons also most of the time app gets crushed and is not available.
Unfortunately, we don't have good options for investment in NZ.

Still haven't received my tax statement

I like the idea of being able to invest in small parcels of shares. Beware if you buy EFTs through Sharesies you will be waiting a long time for your tax statement. Nearly at the end of September and still haven't received my tax statement. It is a drag having to delay your tax return until October just because of the wait for the Sharesies statement where income received was only cents. I have contacted Sharesies and was told it would be available in September. Only 9 days left for September and still don't have it.

Love this app and desktop website…

Love this app and desktop website version. I am writing this as a teen who had his account setup by a parent and from there they have not needed to do anything for me because all of the functions are so easy to use and Strait forward. I also love that I am using a NZ based platform instead of a US one. My only issues are that I wish the was an option to have more advanced graphs so I don't need to use trading view and also that shares and ETFs are the only things you can trade, especially with no leverage, which doesn't cater to mine and others ideal trading style. 5/5!!!!!!!!!!

Some changes made the experience for small investors worse

Want to note my frustration. In 2022 I did a few trades and things worked well. Fees were fair and low and once I sold shares it became available for withdrawal immediately. After making a trade recently after a few months of not using sharesies I noticed a few things.

1. Fees have gone up for small trades. For a $700usd trade I paid $3usd. My most recent trade was $5usd for a $500usd trade. It is capped at $5usd for smaller amounts but it is still an increase for small traders who want to learn with small investments.

2. After selling my shares I noticed I cannot withdraw what is available in my wallet? It used to be I can withdraw immediately after sale now I have to wait 2 days for it to clear.

3. I also noticed the actual withdrawal processing time has gone from up to 3 days (if i remember correctly) to now up to 5 days.
