After two failed application cycles, I felt like I would never get into medical school. In a Hail Mary attempt at one last go, I considered seeking the help of a professional advisor. I spent a lot of time researching different advising companies, meeting with their representatives, and weighing out what I perceived as the cost/benefit analysis for each advising plan.

Shemmassian Consulting immediately stood out. Some of the other companies I had spoken to thought it would be best to take another gap year to strengthen my application and then come to them for their services. When I scheduled to meet with a representative from Shemmassian, I was shocked to find that Dr Shemmassian himself contacted me! In our meeting, he reviewed my previous applications and discussed options with me. He expressed his confidence that he and his team could get me into med school in the next cycle with no need for me to spend another year amping up my application. He instilled confidence in my ability to become a doctor that I hadn’t felt in a long time. I immediately knew I was going to work with them.

I had the most amazing experience with my advisor and editing team. They were responsive, attentive, patient, and genuinely kind to me. They expressed confidence in my candidacy for medical school and helped me better understand why I was a competitive applicant, in spite of previous failures. It was quite literally a dream come true when my first acceptance came in from the first interview I had been offered! There is still months left in the cycle, but with Shemmassian’s help I have the security and peace of mind of having an acceptance early on to an absolutely fantastic program. SAC was really helpful in this medical school application process! The process is long and sometimes stressful and there are lots of components to crafting a great application, and the SAC advisors helped me stay calm and focused throughout the cycle. I am so grateful for all of the advice on my personal statement and the secondary essays -- my advisors really got to know me as a person and showed me how to convey my personal skills and qualities through my application. The interview prep was really valuable as well. With their help, I have gotten into two medical schools!

Great company. There is so much structure to keep you motivated during secondaries, and also for the personal statement. I was so nervous about my personal statement and must have sent my advisors around 40 versions of my statements, and they worked with me, reassured me and explained to me why my PS worked, and moved at my pace which I really appreciated. The med school admissions process is so anxiety inducing as it is, and having this extra layer of support to get you through it is really great. I also think that they made all of my essays standouts. I don't have a 520+ MCAT or 4.0 GPA, and it is only November and I have 2 MD acceptances! HUGE Thank you to my advisors.

My experience was great!! My consulting session was with Dr. Nowicki, and he did an amazing job at easing my worries and preparing me for medical school interviews. We chatted for a bit before we did a 45-minute mock interview session. Then, he walked me through every question and answer, telling me what I answered well and what I could tweak to make my answers stronger. The questions he asked were so accurate to what my real interview experiences were like!

I have had an overall great experience using many of Shemmassian's services. There were many parts of the medical school application process that I did not know about beforehand, so it was a lifesaver to have someone guiding me along the way. Additionally, it was such a stress reliever to have someone reassure me during the process as it can get overwhelming at times and you can feel like you don't know what you are doing. From MCAT tutoring to interview sessions, I felt confident in my preparation before the actual events. I enjoyed my practice interview experience with Dr. Jasani. He was informative and used his experiences to relate to my own. As it was my first mock interview, he helped talk me through certain points and perspectives I could take when phrasing my answers.
