Driver did not show up at the airport despite having booked and paid in advance. Attempted to phone the number given and also sent a message but got no reply. .After an hour of waiting took a taxi from the rank. Is this a scam

The bus was waiting outside the door of Barcelona airport. Flew into Teminal 2A ,but had to go to Terminal 2B to the Shuttle Direct check in desk which is a 2 minute walk from 2A. Then had to leave Terminal 2B and had to go back past Terminal 2A to the bus another only approx 3 minute walk . The bus was waiting for us exactly where we were told it would be when we checked in.
The best aspect about this is our pick up on the way home from the hotel was at 2am in the morning and we have 4 kids. They emailed confirmation of pick up and location(outside hotel) 3 times in the days coming up to our last day.
Having 4 young kids myself and my wife were hoping the bus would arrive on time being 2 am and being 1.5 hours from the airport. The bus arrived exactly on time which was fantastic. Both bus drivers we had were extremely pleasant and helpful.Both very calm drivers also. We couldn't be happier with how reliable and professional Shuttle Direct were to deal with and I would strongly recommend them and will 100% be using them again in the future.I also rang them about our pick up time after receiving the first email to confirm(just being over cautious) and the female I spoke with couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. All in it's a 10/10 for us on this couldn't fault a single aspect of our trips with Shuttle Direct 👍

I booked the fast express Alicante to…
I booked the fast express Alicante to Benidorm.
The pictures led me to believe we would have a taxi.
Our transport was a mini bus so had to wait for other travellers.
The return journey was a 56 seat coach.
The express service is double the price of the service I think was provided

However, we would like to clarify that the only difference between the Speedy Shuttle service and the standard shared shuttle service is the number of stops made during the journey. The Speedy Shuttle is designed to reduce transfer times by limiting the number of passenger drop-offs and pick-ups.
The service remains a shared transfer, and the type of vehicle used may vary depending on operational requirements and passenger numbers. This can include minibuses or larger coaches. The Speedy Shuttle service does not guarantee a private taxi or direct private transfer.
We apologise if the images displayed during the booking process created a different expectation, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Your comments will be shared with the relevant team for review to help ensure the service description and imagery are as clear as possible for future customers.

Good experience, but becoming too expensive
I used their service for the past 10 years across various destinations in Spain (mostly in the Alicante area), and overall the experience was positive. They were reliable, including one occasion when a driver had to wait due to delayed baggage.
Only once did we have a somewhat amusing situation in Valencia, where the driver could not speak a single word of English.
Unfortunately, the service has become quite expensive. In 2026, prices for the same transfer route (Alicante Airport to the same address in Benidorm and same number of people) increased by almost 25% compared to 2025. Fuel prices in Spain did increase, but certainly not by 25%.
Because of this, my advice from 2026 onward would be to compare prices with alternative transfer providers before booking.

Transport from Palma airport to iberostar Cala barca
After a short wait at airport for the other flights to arrive I was allocated stand and transport was there and effective drop off at all hotels.
Only thing that would be helpful is to provide a bus number for return journey as there are so many buses arrive at hotel and there's a fear that you miss your bus and you are down checking with every driver.

Easy booking process and the service was perfect.
Drivers friendly and professional.
Good and clean Vehicles. Always on time.
One point to improve on would be to tell the driver to have a card with passenger's name so that makes it easier at the airport meeting location. We struggled to find him for 15 minutes and he was not far from us especially if you don't have Internet access!
The second driver who picked us from the hotel to the airport was absolutely fantastic guy who we liked and enjoyed travelling with.
