We absolutely love Simmer! I've been on their diet for 3 weeks so far and I've managed to lose 5cm in waist! Meals are delicious and very well balanced. Big shout out to our account manager Lily as well for taking a great care of us :)

Delighted in the service and product.

I have been a customer if Simmer for a couple of weeks. They have delivered my order, as requested, and on time. The quality of the food is great, as is their selection. I have been contacted by their representative; Samuel, who seemed genuinely concerned in my satisfaction. So far I am delighted with all aspects of the service.

Very disappointing experience – unclear pricing and incorrect orders

Very disappointing experience – unclear pricing and incorrect orders

I initially signed up to Simmer because I liked the concept: convenient, calorie-controlled, high-protein meals that make it easier to manage your diet and food budget. Unfortunately, my experience has become increasingly disappointing.

My first major issue has been pricing transparency. The amount being charged changed virtually every week — £63.16, £74.40, £85.63, £96.87, £120.75 and even £189.01.

When I questioned this, it took several emails before I was finally given a proper explanation. I was eventually told that the discounts work sequentially at 50%, 40%, 30% and then 20%, that Lean meals cost an additional £1.99 per meal, and that my normal 15-meal subscription could cost £149.19 including the Lean upgrades and delivery.

My issue isn’t that businesses can’t charge these prices. My issue is that the pricing structure and how the discounts reduce were not made sufficiently clear to me when ordering. If you’re trying to budget weekly food costs, you shouldn’t need several emails with customer service to understand why your direct debit keeps changing.

I was also told that the final amount can be found by going through Account > My Details > Billing Details > Edit before the Tuesday 1pm deadline. Why isn’t the normal price, discount being applied and exact amount about to be charged made extremely obvious when selecting and confirming the meals?

Unfortunately, it then got worse.

After raising a formal complaint about the pricing, my latest delivery didn’t even properly match what I’d ordered.

I specifically selected meals based on their calories, protein content and suitability for my diet. I ordered particular quantities of Chicken Dhansak, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Sticky Chinese Chicken, Irish Spice Bag, Cajun Chicken Rigatoni, Brown Stew Chicken, Peri Peri Chicken and Grilled Simmer Chicken.

When the delivery arrived, there were meals I hadn’t ordered and some of the meals/quantities I’d specifically selected were missing or substituted.

For a meal-prep company, that’s a pretty fundamental mistake. People aren’t necessarily choosing these meals randomly — they’re selecting them around calories, macros, dietary preferences and weekly planning.

What makes it more frustrating is that I actually like many of Simmer’s meals and wanted to continue using the service. I’ve ordered a considerable number of meals in a short period and was prepared to become a regular customer.

But when you’re paying a premium for specific Lean/high-protein meals, I think it’s reasonable to expect two basic things:

Clear and transparent pricing, and the meals you actually ordered.

I’ve now raised both issues formally and requested a partial refund/appropriate compensation. I’ll update this review depending on how Simmer ultimately resolves the complaint.

The food itself can be good, but unfortunately the billing transparency and order fulfilment have seriously let the overall service down.

There is one word that sums up Simmer…

There is one word that sums up Simmer Eats, and that is the word, (Delicious) 😋 I can honestly say I’ve not been disappointed with one single meal yet! And the upside is you know you’re not eating junk food! It’s packed full of goodness, so I’m a very happy customer.

Food was good.
Incredibly difficult to cancel my subscription and still trying to do so.
Confusing links and pop ups which don’t allow you to click off them and cancel them.

Tasty and efficient

Tasty, healthy and high protein meals. Helps us get a range of veg whilst we look after our young baby! It allows us to maximize time with our baby and eat healthily whilst we look after her. Delivery and packaging have been smooth.

Food isn't great. Customer service doesn't exist.

Meals aren't as great as people say. We went for high protein but can't see how 50g of protein is achieved through 2.5 bites of chicken. Customer service is so poor. No one answers online chat and takes days to get a reply to emails. Missing the deadline by a few minutes means they can't skip a week as they've already ordered the ingredients, mainly as they don't have anyone providing support in a timely manner. You can't make amendments to delivery so it's delivered at my doorstep and left there even if I'm not in for 2 days. Won't be using them again as it's not even that cheap once you are out of the special offer.

Game changer

Can’t lie, simmer has changed my routine 10 fold. Really busy in the week and this has revolutionised my healthy eating. Saved so much time.

You will have to try a few meals as trail and error until you find your sweet spot. Overall the food tastes great!

Customer support from simmer had been great. In particular Jaime leigh!

Not healthy HUGE carb counts

Not healthy, some arrive "off", at least two things in my delivery were not to standard with regards to this, feel bloated and appalled at poor health benefits such as high carb values, some meals with over 60% carbs and even overnight oats having the main ingredient as water and oats coming after cashew nuts! High calories, exceptionally high carbs in all I ordered and I cancelled before my next order. Positive great service and salted date ball things are AMAZING but again READ the labels for the stats, nothing healthy about them. Cancelling was difficult and had to Google to find a link to the page but once found it was easy.
