Bryncoch Neath . Food was very good service was poor

I went to the Bryncoch with my elderly aunt. Whilst the food was very good the service was poor.
The lady at the door who seated us was very shouty and bossy and somewhat rude.
The boy behind the bar was very good but there was one server for a full restaurant. Had to wait ages whilst my food was going cold .
Disappointed and not a particularly pleasant experience: very perfunctory

What a difference a week makes

What a difference a week makes, went the week prior and it was lovely, friendly staff, nice atmosphere good food, this time the staff could not be anymore miserable if they tried, completely uninterested, five of of us eating, the fifth meal didnt come out until everyone else had finished and none of it was of the same quality as the week before, very disappointing

Booked a balcony table at the RedLion

Booked a balcony table at the RedLion, Shrewsbury for dinner 10th September. Told where to find the table, not where we were told. The reservation slip had been moved to a table with high bar stools. We were not amused one with a stick, one 81 and the third more able bodied. Couldn’t manage the high stools. The bar was crammed with people waiting to order drinks and or food. When finally hearing the wait for food was an hour we left. Will never give the Red Lion another visit. Unfortunately one star is one too many. Have asked for all the data they hold on me to be removed.

Phantom Coach Coventry

We went to the Phantom Coach in Coventry where I had booked a catering function for 40 people for after my wife's funeral but I was bitterly disappointed with the buffet food that was laid on. There was no way that what was provided was sufficient for 40 people, luckily many people attending, including myself, did not eat anything otherwise there would have been many hungry people there. When I went to pay the bill, I mentioned my opinions to the person that was serving me and he passed on my concerns to the manager but she was not interested, no sign of any apology or even any comment from her. I begrudgingly paid the bill in full and left the building in disgust. Although this is my local pub and go there quite regularly for meals I will now be very reluctant to go there again.

Awful

We went for a meal to celebrate my mother in law’s birthday at the Fox & Hounds. After ordering drinks we waited for the starters, looking around the restaurant the floors were filthy, the blinds in the conservatory were dirty and full of dead insects, the men’s toilets were closed, meaning they had to use the disabled. In there the floor had puddles of urine all over, a slip hazard for anyone disabled or not. The starter came out 45 minutes later, cold. The food was of poor quality. A refund was requested and given. The manager looked like a gardener, the whole place reflected very badly. The pub is dirty, in desperate need of renovation and somewhere to give a wide berth to. It ruined a family celebration. As a further note today, the individual that responded to me needs to get their facts straight. I did not interact with your staff it was another family member. I am complaining to Mitchells & Butlers about the attitude of this employee.

Poor booking system

We are regular customers of The Crown and we had booked a table a few days ago as we were meeting up with our friends. I had booked online and had requested table 4 or 5. When we arrived someone was sitting on table 4 but table 5 had not got reservation on. We decided to sit in table 5 but could not understand why it had not got reservation on it, then my husband spotted the reservation card (which was showing table 4) which looked as if it had just been moved to another table. We think the people in table 4 had ignored the reservation and sat there and just discarded the reservation on another table. We asked a member of staff but they didn't know anything about it

Other than that the food was excellent.

In desperate need of refurbishment

Went for meal on a Monday night. Pub was very quiet. All the tables were dirty, I had to wipe ours down with a napkin. Carpet throughout was sticky. Toilets, not the best. This pub is in desperate need of a refurb. Outside in the pub car park was a man revving his motorbike to which he then drove it out the car park with no helmet and raced up the road. Food however was quite quick and very reasonably priced. We’ll not be returning in a hurry. This pub was The Red Lion in Bath

Not catering adequately for children

Visited The Ram Arnold.
5 Adults. 2 Children under 6.
Unable to provide 1 sausage and small mash for a child. Had to buy Adult portion.
£1.75 for a dash of lime juice with tap water.
Quality and inability to diverse explains why plenty of empty tables at 1pm.

Brockwell seam sizzler pub

I went here with 2 friends. I ordered teriyaki chicken and salad for me and my friend. The other friend ordered the mixed grill which was literally sizzling on the serving dish. Everyone enjoyed it and not too much food that I couldn’t eat a whole ice cream angel cake and squirty cream desert. They had a deal on the salads and then there was the rock star cocktail that was on a deal if we got two. They were really tasty and we ordered another one. The other friend was driving so he ordered a Pepsi. Staff were lovely and the food was lovely no one wasted anything. Prices were very fair.

"An Exercise in Patience: When Simple Orders Go Awry"

In the quiet town of Thornton-Cleveleys, beneath the gray English skies, there stands a place known as Bay Horse, a part of the "Sizzling Pubs" lineage. It is a place where the sizzle of the griddle and the promise of a warm meal draw weary travelers and townsfolk alike. This is the tale of a visit, where hope and hunger met the indifferent hand of fate.

My own meal, a modest affair, was served without incident and for that, I was grateful. But my wife's journey through the culinary landscape was fraught with trials. She had ordered sweet chilli halloumi and fries, a dish simple in its request but elusive in its arrival. Her grandmother, a woman of years and patience, ordered fish and fries with garden peas, but was served fish and chips with mushy peas instead. An omen, perhaps, of the chaos to come.

Time stretched like a desert before us, an hour and twenty minutes passing with the slow inevitability of age. When the food finally arrived, it was not the halloumi and fries but a sizzling salmon, a dish summoned from the depths of some misunderstanding. No apology was offered, no acknowledgment of the error. They vanished, only to return empty-handed, asking us once more what we had ordered.

With patience thinning, we repeated our request. This time they brought the halloumi, but it rested atop a bed of rice, an unwelcome substitution. Again they took the plate away, and we waited. My wife consumed the halloumi, the fries still a distant hope. Another half-hour trickled by, each minute a small surrender to the relentless march of time.

We asked again for the fries, and they arrived, unceremoniously plonked before her, a final act of indifference. No apology accompanied their arrival, just the silent acknowledgment of a task begrudgingly completed.

The Bay Horse, a place of promise, had faltered in its duty. My own meal, a solitary beacon of competence, could not overshadow the trials endured by my wife and her grandmother. The experience left a bitter taste that no food could cleanse, a testament to the small courtesies that make a meal more than mere sustenance. It is a story of human fallibility, a reminder that even in the simplest of acts, there lies the power to uplift or to cast down.

Went to the Phantom Coach

Went to the Phantom Coach, Coventry. My husband has for past 6 months had to change over to a plant based diet due to health reasons. We both eat vegan at home but I still do eat real meat on occasion when dining out. Thought I would try the vegan ribs as I normally love a rack of ribs.

It came out on a sizzling platter and the bed of stir fried vegetables were sizzled to death by the time I got to the bottom layer. I thought 4 small pieces of 'rib' was a bit mean for £9.99, and again they were cooked to nearly black on the outside. They were tough and leathery and took some chewing. The barbeque sauce was nice. I didn't complain at the time. I'd just come from a funeral and didn't feel up to it.

You don't have to cook fake meat to death, it should be sumptuious and juicey like a real rack of ribs. I couldn't identify what it was made from, but it was in layers so maybe seitan based? I wouldn't recommend them I'm afraid to say. Maybe they would be better cooked a little less but I don't want to try them again.

Staff were very pleasant, friendly and consciensious as usual, can't fault them.

So to rewind the clock to 20th April…

So to rewind the clock to 20th April 2024. What a fantastic experience at The Tyburn House. My Mother-in-laws 80th birthday. We booked a table for 3. Food was superb and the manageress was happy to bring out the birthday cake and asked the band to sing happy birthday. So Thankyou, that is why it will always remain my local and a special mention to bar staff member Leanne for accompanying the manageress out to sing happy birthday. All current members of staff on different occasions have made a visit special. So a stark contrast to my previous review, both reviews a personal experience, and illustrate the lowest and the highest experience that the Tyburn can deliver.

We have been visiting this pub for around 3 months and still haven't been able to beat our experiences. The value of money is outstanding. Locals are very friendly and that goes for the staff also. Kelly is just amazing and if there's something she can do for you she will. Lovely pub and would tell everyone to pop in.

Food was terrible This is the second time we have sent…

This is the second time we have sent food back at the centenary, this is not a complaint about the service we got from the waiting staff just the food, all thrre meals were cold, chips looked like they had been warmed up multiple times, buns on the burgers were burnt black and left a horrible taste in your mouth. We sent them back and everything came back in about 3 minutes nothing cooked fresh just microwaved, I like the sizzling pubs and as a family we go at least once a week, but we won't be going back to the centenary, I would rather go elsewhere.
