Completely incapable of fulfilling agreements.

Ive had a "brand new" fridge purchased from Spencer's for nearly half a year now. Upon delivery, there was cosmetic damage to the door. They said it would take 6 to 8 weeks to replace. Here we are half a year later and Ive received nothing but lies and offers of cash (not enough to buy a door myself) to drop the issue.

The company is a scam. They dont care and will lie to you.

Awful experience I purchased a new dishwasher from the…

I purchased a new dishwasher from the Gilbert location on a Friday afternoon, and was promised a delivery between 2:30 and 4:30 the next day. About 4:05 on Saturday, I received a call from the delivery person who said now it was 5:00. About 5:15....still no delivery. Called the Gilbert location who reached the driver. Now moved to "maybe" 6:00. I said NO. Not after dark, I had waited all afternoon. Never got a call back from the person who sold me the unit either....not even an apology! Called them Monday morning and was told they rescheduled for Wednesday. This was without my consent. Found out they overscheduled deliveries, that is why mine was pushed so late in the first place. (9 deliveries in one day for one guy). And, they refused to own up to their mistake...refused to arranged a set-time with me....and so now I just cancelled the entire purchase. Not a way to run a business Spencers!

Spencer's needs to work on their warranty service AFTER purchase.
Going into 3 WEEKS WITHOUT a washer that failed to work 11 months after delivery and setup.
Have made calls to both store and warranty repair company. Getting the run around between the 2 businesses.
This is first time purchase from Spencer's. Will be rethinking my future purchases from Spencer's as they need to step up on their warranty repair team and customer care AFTER PURCHASE.

They will never fix their broken equipment!

They delivered my fridge and the guy did a great job. Thats where the positive nature stopped! I've been fighting with their incompetent foreign service company ever since for the microwave they put in before I moved in. It's not even a year old and it already stopped working. They want me to take a day off and sit around for 5 hours waiting on them to possibly show up. This is completely inexcusable from any company in this day and age, it's 2025 not 1955! Learn how to do your job right!

You get what you pay for

Purchased whirlpool washer dryer on Jan 27, 2024 and on Feb 5, 2025 the washer stopped spinning and draining. Out of warranty at that point and basically stated that we could've purchased an extended warranty. I certainly would think a washer would last more than a year without breaking down. I believe whirlpool will cover it, but not happy with the product and that it breaks down days after warranty ends. And very unhappy with Spencer's not covering the warrant just days after expiration.

Customer service is hit or miss. Depends on who you talk to.

My experience with Spencer's TV was a lesson in the importance of hiring people who believe in helping their customers & not just making money. Two were great and two were not.
My husband & I were in need of a set of front-loading washer & dryers. I settled on buying from the Arrowhead store of Spencer's TV & Appliance. They had good prices & the models I was looking for were in stock.
I bought the units from Russ, the salesman. Delivery was within the week & the installer, Robert (& a helper) came out to install them. They did [what I thought was] a great job with no hiccups. When they were finished, he explained that both units were running & to let them run through their cycle before using them.
When the cycles were finished I opened the doors to discover that they opened into each other and banged together, instead of opening away from each other so you could transfer wet laundry directly into the dryer easily. I learned later that my washer/dryer hookups are the opposite of most people & what is standard these days. The washer lines are on the right & the dryer vent is on the left, which is how the units were installed. Unfortunately, the door on my washing machine couldn't be flipped, so the machines needed to be installed opposite of the hookup locations.
Sadly, Robert never mentioned the issue & didn't talk to me before installing to offer solutions to fix that matter. Since this was our first time buying a new front-loader set, I never thought to ask about the swing beforehand or check the doors when the installer was there.
I discovered the problem as soon as the cycles were done & I opened the doors of the units. I immediately texted the Service Dept but didn't get a response. Then I called & left a message for Russ to let him know about the issue. I followed up with a polite text with the hope of hearing back later in the day. I received a text promptly, that he could set up a service call to get it fixed.
Then...crickets...
It wasn't until 5 days later, when I called the store that I was able to track him down. When I did, he basically told me it was my fault that they had been installed wrong because I didn't tell the installer that our hookups were backwards [which I didn't even know] or check the swing of the doors before the installer left.
He gave me the number of an outside person who could switch the units for a fee, but he wouldn't schedule Spencer's to come & fix it for no charge. [So here's the question: Was he in partnership with this outside person & getting kickbacks or did he just not care about his customer, now that he had the sale & commission?]
I soon realized that Russ wasn't willing to resolve the problem, so I decided to call the store manager. I called later & left a message for him. I waited several days again with no response, then called back to ask for the manager again.
A sales rep named Dan happened to answer the phone. As I tried to leave a message for the manager Dan asked if there was anything he could do to help. I briefly explained my issue, thinking that it would still need to go to a manager since Dan wasn't my sales rep. To my surprise, Dan said he would check into it. Later that day he called to say that he could schedule a service call to resolve the problem.
Today service reps, Brandon & his assistant arrived early & were friendly & so helpful!!! They were able to get the position of the units switched within about 20 minutes & everything was resolved. Brandon apologized that it wasn't installed correctly in the first place & made sure I was satisfied before he left.
I was extremely disappointed in the sales rep, Russ' negative attitude & lack of customer service. Our first installer, Robert completed the installation but would have saved time & money for the company & a lot of headaches & follow up for me, if he had just discussed the problem with us before putting the units in.
Dan & Brandon are the kind of employees that I would love to have on any customer service team. They both deserve a raise or a bonus!

We purchased a new fridge in good faith. Reported the problems immediately, plus exterior damage. Sales rep blew off the damage and Seller does NOT support customers issues, and passes those to the manufacturer, who in turn, does NOT replace Lemons, as described. Spencer's only publishes Good reviews on their website which is truly misleading. Earl R.

No Customer Service, only Sales.

Zero Customer Service offered at Spencers, as it's only about Sales. You will likely find great Salespeople here, but just hope you don't ever have an issue. If you do, you will find that they really don't have anyone interested in actually resolving your issue beyond making the sale. I purchased a fridge that was broken upon delivery and had to call Spencers several times to push for getting it fixed. They never let me talk to a manager, they failed in ordering the broken part, and they never followed up. I went a month with a broken fridge after paying for a brand-new premium refrigerator and ended up making the repair myself. Never did get any follow up or consideration for the frustrating and inconvenient experience.

Don't buy from Spencer's and Don't buy GE products

My wife and I went into the Goodyear, AZ location and told the salesman I want the BEST washer/dryer top loader they have. The salesman directed us to the GE Profile, as he said thats what he has in his house and so we bought them, their extended warranty, installation, and removal of old. After the 2 month noise came from dryer, they had repair man come out and said it was the pully's that turn the drum, the grease is gone and bearings worn out. After repairing by replacing the part, about 2 more months go by and the heating element goes out! I should have requested a swap out or refund then but trying to be understanding we let them replace heating element. now about 8 months in the pully's go out again! This time instead of a 3rd party repair man, they send an actual GE repair man. He replaced all the pully's not the one that went out. I said to him funny you had replacement parts on your truck, last time we had to wait a week for part to come in. After talking to him this brand has been know to have the issues with the pully's going out quickly. GE fix to the problem is they changed the material the bracket is made of so they don't wear out so fast. I called Spenser's and spoke to store manager and said after 3 repairs in 8-9 months I feel we have been more than patient and understanding and ask they take this set up back and allow us to go with something different. He said there is nothing he can do because now there is nothing wrong with the dryer as it's now fixed and said he recommend I speak with GE and see if they will take them back (Now I am doing Spencer's job for them) as they just passed the buck to manufacture. Well after emailing back and forth with GE, since both machines are working now there is nothing they can do about a refund or credit. They offered to give me another 1 year extended warranty. I said I have Spencer's long 4 or 5 year warranty already and she said well then there was nothing else they can do! I have been buying from Spencer's for many years and have always had great experiences, that is why we went back. I have tried many times to give both Spencer's and GE to make things right and allow us to return the product and pick something else out. I was even willing to pay any upgraded price if the other product cost more! Bottom line is DONT BUY GE and make sure that if product has issues the 2nd time, don't let them fix it, DEMAND they replace it with new! We need a refrigerator now and we'll be going to Sam's club or Costco. Their return policy's are much better and do not give you the run around and make the customer jump through hoops!

Guess I don't "have a friend in the business?"

Owner Biederback called me today. He was going to charge me over $50 to replace the burners that do not work. He would not let me talk so I hung up on him. He called me back and I told him that I don't like being talked to as if I am a child. This company is huge, yet they do not show good faith to their loyal customers. I cannot believe that this company cannot make this right and pay the $50 to replace these defective burners. Whoever heard of a stove burner cutting off power after 5 minutes? Biederback said this is how they are supposed to work. He even lied to me that he sold 2,000 of these and no one else ever complained about the burners shutting off. Dubious at best. There are boatloads of Amazon negative reviews of this same unit. The Frigidaire repairman told me that I'd be wasting my time in contacting Spencers because they are known to do NOTHING to satisfy their customers. The repairman was right. Biederback was rude to me on the phone. If he had paid me $50 or just replaced the defective burners, I would have removed all of my negative reviews of their company. One lesson I learned is never pay with cash. Always pay with a credit card!

Prices Good , Service Terrible

I purchased 5 items for my new home when I moved to Verrado. I bought a Maytag washer, dryer, 2 queen mattresses, and a Whirlpool refrigerator.
When I moved into the house, I found the refrigerator never worked. I called Spenser’s about the issue and requested a replacement. They told me they would schedule me for a repairman to see if it was an easy fix. They sent a repairman a week later. He diagnosed that the refrigerator never was functioning because it had a defective compressor.
I called Spenser’s and requested a replacement since I purchased a new refrigerator and not a broken one. They said they would not replace it and I would need to take it up with the manufacturer. I called Whirlpool and they said they would repair the refrigerator but not replace it. I was informed that it would take a minimum of 2 weeks or probably longer for a replacement part since they were having supply chain issues.
It’s unconscionable that a manufacturer and seller can deliver a defective product to a purchaser and leave the buyer without a working essential appliance like a refrigerator.

Miserable Sales & Delivery

We just experienced a rather miserable ordeal with the Spencers Gilbert store, they did not meet our expectations of customer service. We don’t plan on coming back, bur Spencers has not reached out to us to offer an apology.

We purchased a top-of-the-line GE Profile washer & dryer on September 12th. Here is what transpired:
Day 1 - 9/13/23

Installers showed up at the designated time and brought in the washer & pedestals. That’s when it was discovered that our salesman ordered us an electric dryer instead of a gas dryer.

The installers quickly got the salesman on the phone and explained the situation. We were shocked to hear the salesman stubbornly and rudely deny that he had sent us the wrong dryer. My son, wife and I were there when this set was ordered, and we all heard my wife say clearly that we needed a gas dryer.

The salesman’s attitude towards us makes it clear he has not been properly trained in customer service. His response SHOULD have been, “I’m so sorry, we’ll get that fixed right away”. But he chose to insult my wife instead by insinuating she was a liar.

A 2nd issue occurred when we saw how much wider the new washer/dryer set was than our old ones and realized that we would have to stack the units, so our salesman agreed to order a gas dryer, stacking kit and assured us a longer (6 foot) flexible gas line would be delivered as well.

The pedestals and shorter gas line were returned to the truck, and a 2nd install was scheduled for the following day (9/14).

Note: We have yet to be fully reimbursed for the pedestals and gas line.
Day 2 – 9/14/23

Installers arrived in the afternoon with a new gas dryer, gas hose and stackable kit.

It was soon determined that the gas line they brought was only 3 feet long, not the 6-foot length the salesman said he ordered. This gas line was too short to reach the dryer (which was higher now that we were stacking the units).

Installer 1 insisted that he could not get a longer gas line and that in order to complete the installation we were now responsible to supply the new longer gas line (even though we paid Spencer’s to install???).

Just so they would not have to come back a 3rd day, I offered to run to the hardware store while they unpacked the new gas dryer and get a longer gas line. Installer 1 refused my offer saying he had another delivery. He seemed more eager to get home early than helping the customer. I also think Installer 1 has not received the customer training he needs.

Day 3 – 9/15/23

Installers return to finish the install in the afternoon with a stacking kit.

Because I didn’t want any more arguments about a gas line, I had a 3-foot gas supply pipe installed and leak tested. The gas supply was 100% to code and ready to connect. Installer 1 muttered some disapproval with the gas extension but proceeded to stack and install the units.

The entire time, Installer 1 kept ear buds in his ears and was hurried, impatient, cranky, uncommunicative, and generally unfriendly.

Once the units were installed, we noticed that the washer and dryer doors opened in opposite directions. We knew that the washer door could be swapped to match the dryer. But when we asked Installer 1 to do this, he told us in a gruff manner that it was a “chargeable service” and very reluctant to do it. After all we had been through up until now, I was surprised he did not offer to do it for free. They said this was their last delivery, so it wasn’t like they had another install after us.

In summary, after 3 days of sales & installer frustration, we finally have our new washer & dryer up and running. But this experience leaves a very bad taste in our mouth. And we feel that it should be made right by Spencer’s.

It’s been a week now since I let them know how dissatisfied we are and they apparently don’t care. We have not heard a word from them. They seem content to take our money but deliver very poor service. I have no more need for Spencers.

Avoid, If you care about your hard earned $$. Spencer's Tv Appliance

Spencer's Tv Appliance -
Save your time and money. The sardonic sales representatives are guaranteed to give you the highest pricing, worst yet make you feel that delaying delivery is expected, ie be grateful Spencer's is on your side and will get your order ASAP. When I was told that it would be at least 3 months to receive I contacted the manufacture of the appliances and was told 10 days. vs the 3 months. The manufacture delivered as expected and at a lower cost. Why I did not check the manufacture first is my own stupidity.

The worst part of my experience with Spencer's is receiving the refund. It had been 13 days from purchase to cancellation so I would receive a full refund, no restock fee.... It has been over 2 months since cancelling my order and Spencer continues to refuse to issue a refund. Spencer's sales will not provide the elusive corporate office phone number or respectfully address your complaint. All you will get is, I have worked here for, who cares number of years, and this has never happened. The sales representatives cannot provide documentation to the refund only that it happened. With this attitude You should avoid. The Spencer's I grew up transitioned to a tyranny of sales.

I had to file a complaint with the AZ Attorney General, Visa and the bank. BUYER BEWARE.

To end my story, VISA and Bank never received the electronic transfer and now the attorney general knows the dishonest practices of Spencer's.

AVOID and call the manufacture if you want appliances. If you ask, a simple call to the manufacture will get you discounts that will exceed any brick/motor or online.

Twice burned…never again.

We bought an out-of-box refrigerator from Spencer’s TV & Appliance San Tan, Gilbert AZ on a Friday.

Our salesperson Justin was great, as he also rectified a months-old previous purchase, a Wolf cooktop, where we didn’t get the red knobs as promised (Spencer’s blew us off).

What Justin didn’t know is that we were earlier going to buy two Wolf ovens and didn’t move forward with that purchase, because of what happened when we followed-up re: the cooktop knobs.

We took delivery of the fridge on Monday.
The delivery was by-the-numbers and that part of the process was communicated well.
The delivery guy (Hector) plugged-in the fridge and continued removing the cellophane wrapping, styrofoam, etc.
After 5-10 minutes the fridge started making an obnoxiously loud knocking sound.
Hector unplugged and replugged the fridge.
At this point we were nervous about keeping the fridge, so we asked Hector to stick around 5-10 minutes to see if it repeated.
It did and I videoed the sound.
We asked Hector to take the fridge with him and he did.
It’s worth mentioning, I called Spencer’s twice during this affair, Justin was off, and it was suggested I come back to the store to look for another unit.

Within an hour I was back at the store.
A sales person, also named Hector, engaged me upon entering and I explained the above.
He immediately disclosed that even if I found an alternative fridge it couldn’t be delivered until Wednesday.
I explained that I’m a cook, have several boxes of food on ice at home that’ll perish (the fridge discussed here is a second food prep and storage unit).
Hector said that was the best he could do.
I looked for and found one acceptable unit at a price point several hundred dollars higher than the one we purchased and asked what Hector could do on discounting.
He said he’d check and a short time later showed me a computer screen comparing their like-for-like price with Home Depot; that was the best he would do!

Extremely underwhelmed, I asked for and received a refund.
I felt leveraged by the circumstances.
But most importantly, I realized Spencer’s was making their problem: a non-working fridge, my problem re: the food spoilage in the hundreds of dollars I’m about to realize.

I hope nickel & diming us was worth it, because there’s no chance in hell we’ll buy $10k Wolf ovens or a $20k Sub-Zero fridge from Spencer’s when the economy gives and we complete our kitchen remodel.

I have a 15 month old Whirlpool french door fridge that has been BAD since it arrived. I have fought with Whirlpool for 14 of those months and finally they agreed to replace it. Whirlpool would only deliver the fridge to Spencers. Unfortunately customer service at Spencers requires a WHOLE DAY COMMITMENT TO DELIVER. So I had to wait until I could find a day, so i called them and what a runaround. Talk about rude and unhelpful!!!!!!!!!!!! I was treated as though I was stupid! She transferred me all over the place to no avail. I told her the transcript had said it Eric who called but it turned out to be Derek but she couldn't work that out. For many years(25 I used Spencers) but over the last 5 -6 years they have become bad to deal with and unhelpful when you have a problem.

Spencer's TV & Appliance

I bought a Samsung smart TV and a Sonos sound bar from Spencer's TV & Appliance. The items were shown to me by: Gary Kolstad. The Sonos sound bar sounded great in the showroom. I was told it was very easy to set up at my home. That was not the case so I contacted Gary Kolstad, as he told me if I had a problem with it he would come to my house and set it up for me.

I sent to below e-mail to Gary, as shown below within the dashed lines.
=======================================
Hi Gary,

If the offer is still good could you come to my house and set up the Sonos sound bar I bought from Spencer’s?

Tim Bruder
=======================================

Gary responded to me that he was too buy. But he could send out a technician at $200 to set it up.

I have purchased appliances in the thousand from Spencer's TV & Appliance since the early 80's. Needless to say they will never get my business again unless the issue is not resolved, which I highly doubt will happen.

Terrible experience

One of the worst experiences I have ever had with a company. Purchased a dishwasher in May and on Aug 12th it was finally delivered. Was given a date for delivery in June and waited at home patently for the delivery. Around 5pm I finally called and asked where it was and was told it was delayed. Took off work to be home and no call ahead of time warning me it would be delayed. In July we went on vacation and got a call from a delivery driver stating our dishwasher was here. No call, no anything, just showed up. Obviously, we were not home and I rescheduled to the day we returned. Once again that day came and I received no calls from Spencer’s. I called them and asked the status and they said it was now damaged (aka we sold it to someone else) and it would be August until it came in. ALSO, originally, we purchased this dishwasher partly due to the rebate being offered but due to all the delays that rebate is no longer valid. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars here and Spencer’s didn’t care about any of these issues and have lost my business forever. Go to someone who actually cares and will admit when they messed up. Our salesperson at the Gilbert location, Keven, took zero responsibility along with my multiple phone calls to the Gilbert location to try and get someone to care or management to even call me back. I understand there is a global shortage of components and shipping times can be an issue, but this is about respecting your customers and doing what’s right and Spencer’s failed miserably.

Terrible company

Terrible company. Hire sales people that lie to you for their own personal gain. They sell lg refrigerators for 3500 and they are lucky to last 8 months. They know lg is nothing but problems yet they sell as many as possible because money is more important than their customers. Then when lg refrigerators break they refuse to help you and let your food rot. You want chaos in your life? You want to get ripped off? Go to spencers tv and appliance and buy something from them. You will wish you didnt just like i do.
