I was very unsure about choosing Squarespace after getting a little overwhelmed by my trial of the Wix software. However, I decided to follow the recommendation of a friend.
As a newbie to website building, it was a bit daunting and I found the interface a challenge but then realised this was likely due to a lack of knowledge and understanding on my part.
After contacting the support department, it took much longer than I'd hoped to contact me as their AI bot/tool didn't pass on my support request as it said it had. When I messaged a second time around 7-10 days later, support took a couple of days to arrive, but when it did, they were very quick to help resolve my problem.
So, overall, I am now happy - although a little frustrated by the length of the delay which totalled almost a month before I was able to get my site live. That's why I've marked them 4 out of 5 stars.

It was great to see the way Human Support executive responded to over a chat. However, I am little concern over a AI Chatbot since they were not able to understand my question. Hence, 4 Start

My old Wordpress website had been “broken” for over 5 years. Links wouldn’t work and I couldn’t get any help to fix it even though I paid the hosting site hundreds of dollars. Needless to say, I am not the most computer literate 72 year old on the planet.
So, desperate for a fix, I consulted AI. Yes, Perplexity to the rescue. LOL It suggested Squarespace and one other as a solution to my problem. I tried Squarespace and I had the website I wanted in a few hours! Why didn’t I do this earlier? I became a paid subscriber on Day Three of my 2 week trial.
A few days later, I had tweaked the website to include a blog page. Next I will set up some galleries.
There are a few quirky things that took me a while to figure out, but the on-line help and tutorials are very easy to access and very helpful. I used the on-line help to move my domain to Squarespace and it worked seamlessly. Amazing to me!!
The only downside I have run across is that they do not offer a website automatic back-up program. But they do have work-around suggestions.
My website is very simple and suits me perfectly, but the tools are available for much more complex websites with SEO management, sales, analytics, and much more. Squarespace has found a way to be simple for users that need simple, option packed with functionality for power users, and perfect for all in between. Highly recommended!
Editing is an…experience. Between things resizing on their own and the cursor going missing, it’s a mess. For what they charge they need to get it together. Less AI, more fixing the backend.

I paid around $800/year for a "premium" all-in-one platform. What I got was a recurring platform bug that destroyed the layout of my 300-page website – four times. Three times I manually fixed 300 pages by editing each pages' layout again. The fourth time, I contacted support.
After weeks of back and forth, their senior engineer confirmed in writing that it is a known platform bug, there is no fix, no ETA, and no ability to restore my site. Their solution? "Change the settings of each block on every page manually."
No offer to assist via code or automated script, and no accountability whatsoever.
When I asked for a refund, they pointed me to Section 12 of their Terms of Service, which essentially says the platform is provided 'as is' and they take no responsibility for errors. So they market themselves as a professional, reliable website platform – and then legally disclaim all responsibility when it breaks.
I got better technical answers from free AI tools than from their paid engineering team.
I have since migrated my entire site away from Squarespace. Best decision I made all year. Do not give this company your money.

The platform is easy to figure out and use, even as a non-computer/design person. I was able to put the website together the way we wanted and set up tools we needed. I had an issue with a domain I purchased from another site and was struggling with my lack of skill and the AI assistant's "help". When I finally got a human to help, the problem was researched and thankfully fixed.

Connection Squarespace with Google Workspace is a disaster. Changes made in Google Admin Workspace is not recognized by Squarespace.
Ending up in double payments, not adhering to changes in the Google Admin tool and after that emails are handed by a AI chatbot helpdesk.
Helpdesk does not understand this matter by even showing them multiple Google Admin screenshots and even Creditcard printscreens to demonstre that double payments are carried out.
To prevent dataloss I was required to move my domains to other party.

When I have an issue, your AI bot is useless, and your representatives are not there.

I have hosted my website with Squarespace for two years and had my domain and email with IONOS. Last Tuesday I decided to switch over my domain and email to the Google Mail hosted within Squarespace. It has been an absolute nightmare. I spent almost two hours last week with a person who did try to help but after a period of time when nothing was working I was told the case would be escalated. A few days passed and I heard nothing. I had to open new tickets to try and get someone to help me - two agents got back to me at the start of this week ( as I opened two tickets - quite desperate for any help ) and have instructed me to do all the same steps as the previous person did. There seems to be zero trail of any history for my case - basically all the verification emails are being sent to an email that has been disabled ( my IONOS one ). I am blown away that there is zero phone help with complex issues - I have been going around in circles with various Squarespace agents for a week now. A week with no functioning email for my business - hours of my time using ai ( which gave me more insight than the agents at Squarespace to be honest ) going back and forth re explaining the issues. I have had my ticket escalated to another person on numerous occasions now ..... Losing 6 + hours - having no functioning work email for a week is far from ideal as a solo business. If I could go back in time I would never have gone down this route. The support has been so bad. No one seems to be able to fix the problem - so they pass it to the next. I will.most likely return to IONOS by the end of tomorrow - as I have actually called them this week ( phonecalls are something Squarsepace does not offer ) to see if I could regain access to my previous email and they explained that it should be a case of overriding the issue on the back end ( in Squarespaces case ) so I could gain access. That phonecall took me 10 minutes. Dealing with Squarespace has taken so much of my time and so much frustration. I will wait a few more days and see if Squarespace can amend this problem. At this moment in time I would absolutely steer well clear. No phone support is one of the major issues I have had this week with Squarespace. When you don't offer that - there should be extremely efficient protocols in place - which there clearly is not.

Great sites, terrible customer service. When things go south you are sent to an AI bot that can only help with the most basic things. Then you have to fall back on emails that can take up to 10 days - that's a very sluggish back-and-fourth. Squarespace is not cheap we deserve better customer service.
First Update: So within hours of leaving this review Squarespace responded - showing their review monitoring is much faster than their customer support. There is indeed an AI live chat feature at this link, but if you can't log in, then you can't start a chat and if you can't start an AI chat, then you can't be transferred to a human. So this is of very little help to me.
I get that Squarespace want to save money. I get that support is expensive to manage, but I've paid a premium rate to Squarespace so I expect support that reflects this.
Second Update: I did manage to get through to somebody via the website chat (two hour wait) and they did stop the direct debit AND refund the one month they had taken wrongfully. I give this update in the interest of balance. It was a right mission though, so I'm leaving the review at one star.

Squarespace's AI chatbot is not particularly helpful. But if you do ask to chat with a human, as I did, the service is excellent. I had billing questions regarding multiple client websites, and the rep truly cared about getting me answers. I didn't feel rushed, and all my questions were answered fully.

Very well indexed FAQ section and whenever needed human assistance is available as well as ai bots!

Please dont waste your time. Their in app AI doesnt even know what its talking about. The design is so limited and made me cry. Actually terrible

No customer service. I have a major issue for 4 months and I only get AI answers. No human to talk with.
The problem is still here. This is the reason why I will transfer my website to another platform. What a waste of time.

Ai is not a hype, there’s a lot of credibility to it. Gemini once told me it’s not human. So I had to rephrase my question. square space incorporated so much Ai into its system, the builders forgot to put a human being behind the functions. Their new system wiped off ( deleted my website) claiming it was a deleted by the owner. It took two weeks to find human admin. And one week to find out how to get my site back. The only way rebuild. The platform shows how Ai can delete erase or disable existence in the system. We can’t or shouldn’t be so reliant on Ai, leaving functions to the system. Every stage needs a coordinator.

Your customer support sucks. I've been waiting a half an hour to get assistance and gotten NOTHING except robot AI BS. I am referring to Squarespace.

Reply from Squarespace
Building a website is easy; connecting it with payment system, etc. is sometimes complicated. The AI chat doesn't always give the correct answer, but when referred to a real person, it's good.

I paid for my domain and email but am having trouble with the email which is why I have not gone live with my website and have received no help. I want help from a human not AI.

Customer service humans (not the AI) are very knowledgeable and helpful via chat, and the whole platform is easy to use (even fun!).
