About Squarespace's 2026 attempts at customer support...these AI-generated support line answers do not work for the kinds of problems I write in about. I have been a professional Squarespace designer and Circle member for nearly ten years, so I know when something is legitimately WRONG with the editor UI. When I contact SQS Support, I always state a bunch of things I have already done, usually with a video, and I generally take the time to prove why I am 100% sure a particular problem is a GLITCH. As in, there's no way for a regular help article to tell me how to fix it, and it actually needs to be escalated to the development team.
But the obvious AI agent nonsense responses I get aren't equipped to answer questions at the level I am asking questions. It's extremely frustrating and diminishes a decade of trust in Squarespace, which used to have amazing customer service. I am sad that those days are over now. I really wish experienced designers (who don't generally ask basic questions they could find answers to in the public documentation) could proceed directly to human support.
Also, in general, glitches in the editor have been extraordinarily difficult to work with for several months now. The block spacing that I create gets completely scrambled for no reason almost every time I edit a page now, so tweaking a little detail in one section requires going back through all sections of the entire page and readjusting things, like the height of text and image blocks, so that they align as I designed them to.

I would give no stars if I could. Dozens of automated, AI slop messages that aren't actually explaining anything. Zero problem-solving initiative. No solutions. As soon as I can, I'll cancel my subscription and never work with this company again - unless they can get an actual person on the phone to be helpful and get ANYWHERE with the multiple problems that are not my, the consumer's, fault.

Dealing directly with Squarespace was a disappointment. I gave five stars due to the result that finally corrected my error, but this is solely due to the steps and help provided by Gemini AI. Without this help, I feel my error, which I gave detailed explanation still would be pending.

The site works fine, but when you have problems, you gonna suffer and waste atleast one hour: Their support (via email) is obviously an AI agent (that pretends to be a human) who talks a lot and don't really help nor solve your issues. I already built a website and spent effort, but I sincely suggest to you, go to Wix, I'm a manager on a Wix website and it's better, with an amazing human support even late in the evening. I thought that Google can create a better product but no.

I can develop better tools with fewer limitations now with AI... More integrated solutions for WAY less money.. You need to provide better integrations and reduce your prices, or you will be done for.

I thought I could use squarespace as it’s a no code tool. But it really lacks basic functionality to build simple things in a website. At this point with AI tools coding isn’t the issue. They really need to make the product better. Or be more available to support customers.

Learning
I had to use an independent AI to be able to learn and navigate editing a website for my friend. The available videos and knowledge base articles were too cumbersome and not specific enough to be of much use.

I had a simple request, I could find where my 2 part verification was showing up. Took until a day later that I got a reply. You can't talk to a person who could have solved my problem in 5 minutes. My question was not on your list of solutions give to your AI. The answer was: check your spam

I really would prefer to talk to someone on the on the phone than live chat. I also don’t like that for every question I have the representative sends me a video. I know you’re trying to save money but it would help immensely if you add let’s say $15/yr add on for users to chat with someone on the phone instead of via chat. I also don’t like the fact that I have to go through AI first to get to a live chat. I spent a whole day trying to trouble shoot 3 questions. It’s a waste of my time when it could have been handled quickly via phone.

First, I'll say that in general, I've actually had a surprisingly good experience when trying to reach support, and getting to chat or email with a real person, which is refreshing. However, the problem is that customer service can't resolve the deepest problems with Squarespace.
They are missing so many absolutely fundamental features for eCommerce for sellers that I cannot recommend using them for anyone that sells stuff.
They are also so misleading that I feel like they're actually breaking truth in advertising laws. They literally have a banner ad within the user interface that says "sell products from your squarespace catalog on Facebook and Instagram", but Meta changed how their Shops feature worked like a year ago, and Squarespace still have not updated their checkout to work with Facebook and Instagram shops, so this is an actual lie. They also market their hosting service as able to do this.
Then there's the most basic stuff, like, I would like to be able to create a custom field on my printed out receipt I pack in with all my orders, but that is IMPOSSIBLE. Not a feature they have, and no plans to make it.
Also can't batch print order invoices, shipping labels, or mark as fulfilled. So many basic functions of fulfilling orders take so many extra, tedious steps.
Squarespace isn't a cheap service, either. They don't even include email in the price of the hosting service.
They're clearly spending most their development time and budget on adding AI slop features, and sponsorships rather than things many, many customers have been asking for and needing for years.
Squarespace advertises as a simple, turnkey solution for people wanting to make an online shop, with everything needed, but it's not.
If I'd known all this in advance, and how much time I would waste by trying to get things to work which will never be possible on Squarespace, I would have just spend the time to self-host and build out my own site and shop, which would end up costing less in time and money.

The customer service could be better. Hope they are not going with total AI slop and not having real humans and intelligence behind the customer support team.

I purchased a domain through Google which was purchased by Squarespace. You sent one email, which I missed explaining this. When I wanted to cancel I had no way to access without giving all of my private info (picture, driver’s license, etc) and then you had a stupid process where i had to create a dummy website. I reported you to the FTC based on this experience and I will never do business with you ever again.
I just read the Squarespace lame reply to this review with something written by AI. They don’t even care enough to have a human reply. I suggest purchasing your domains from Cloudflare.

You probably aren’t aware but customers are leaving not because of AI alternatives. And the reason might surprise you.
I build websites for clients and myself across multiple accounts.
I’ve been a Squarespace user since 2015ish and more recently have been having issues with customercare and squarespace-payments-risk
One of my newly finished websites had a problem, and with my background in CS I easily identified the issue. The first and only customer on the test website was malicious and submitted an order followed by a dispute after shipping updated showing an in-transit shipment.
This was clearly show to your reps.
I won the dispute easily and submitted the evidence to the previously mentioned teams.
Unable to escalate the issue or reverse the decision I decided to move all assets, clients, domains, followers, and commerce from Squarespace out of principle.
The reason I’m not giving a 1 star is because the website builder was iconic and the engineers who built, maintained, and developed it essentially (in my mind) are responsible for your customers.

Literally been waiting weeks for an answer no one can seem to give me. Every reply is generic ai crap. No one can actually help fix my account and fix the reserve thing that is literally there for no reason, not allowing anyone to purchase from my website that I pay a ton of money for. I’ve never had a return. I’ve never had an issue. They say it should only take 2-3 days to fix. But it’s been weeks that I’m aware of the problem (and who knows how long before a customer brought it to my attention). I’d love to know how I’m supposed to sell products without a working website?! What exactly am I paying for if no one can actually help me or tell me anything? 🤔

Liked the service for when moved but now no human contact and very slow at getting answers or sevice and it seems it is all run by AI service.

Squarespace dismantled my sister's website and email address and then stole her identity after submitting all documents requested to verify her identitiy. All emails and chats are AI robots that kept asking her for the same information after she sent it. This company is a scam, should not be used by anyone and should be prosecuted for cyber crime and taken down by the FBI.
I am beyond frustrated. Your customer service is absolutely horrible.
It is painfully slow, and instead of giving me straight answers, your support team just buries me in a mountain of links. Why am I being sent 100 links to review for things that have already been checked? Every time I ask a specialized question, I get hit with the same lazy, robotic, "copy/paste" responses and more links. No one actually answers the question submitted.
Your checkout system is a joke. It is completely uncustomizable. There are zero options. And when I ask "why?", your team actively avoids giving a straightforward answer.
Take your "branded email" feature for customer notifications, for example. Why does your paid system allow me to add my own branded email address, but the moment your system fails to deliver them, it suddenly becomes my problem? I am a client paying for a service, yet I am expected to become a Google coding and DNS expert just to fix your broken feature. If the feature doesn't work properly, remove it.
This is a HORRIBLE system. I deeply regret paying for an annual membership. If I weren't locked into this contract, I would have moved to Shopify months ago. Your platform is extremely rigid with absolutely NO flexibility.
Let me tell you something: all of your flashy AI announcements are worth nothing if you can't even solve basic, day-to-one requests from paying clients. Stop diverting me to a public forum to post "potential requests" to your team. Excuse me? I am supposed to waste my precious time posting on a community blog that no one reads?
You guys are completely stuck in the 2000s, completely incapable of solving 2026 problems. Get it together and have someone actually read this and give me a real, human answer.

I had an issue and an actual human helped me. I wasn’t held hostage by an AI. The platform is easy to use and I think their prices are fair.

Layouts were not at all what i was looking for. 100% impossible to speak with a human, only shitty AI chatbots. "free trial" ends before i was even able to find a template that was even CLOSE to my needs.

Squarespace is relatively straightforward, but I couldn't get the DNS settings correct. I followed every set of instructions I could find, but my site was showing as not secure. I tried customer service and didn't receive a response for a few days, and when I did, it appeared to be AI. I've been building websites for 20+ years and have never encountered a problem like this before. For the price, help should be available at least during working hours. I ended up hiring a developer to straighten it out.
