Absolutely appalling.

Absolutely appalling.
I have often had to be on the line for at least 20 minutes just waiting to speak to someone, and every time I've needed to talk with them in the past couple of years I get friendly, but almost completely unintelligible Filipino representatives, most of whom cannot help me and do not seem to understand my queries.
I so often have to repeat myself and today I am in tears with frustration. They have not been able to explain how SSE has arrived at a particular sum that I'm querying - they took £164 totally suddenly from my bank account, despite the 12-month projected bill for this next year supposedly £1,532 (£127 per month) and cannot explain this to me. Apparently I owe more for the past month but they simply cannot provide the calculation, and confusingly simultaneously said that it has in fact been credited to my new account with OVO (OVO recently took over SSE but I've no high hopes there either).
It is UTTERLY MADDENING.
I'd literally be happy for anyone to take over my account at this point.
UPDATE: after 60 minutes I got through to someone South African, who explained it all, but I was on the phone for an hour and a half all together. The bills are written in the least customer-friendly way, I would say.

SSE what a waste of space!!!

Do not touch this company with a bargepole as they are the most unhelpful, uncaring company you could ever sign up to. There call centre is a waste of time and so far its taken two weeks from 26th June 2023 to still be no further to a resolution. I currently have a faulty pay as you go key meter which i normally put £130 a month on and since 26th June i have had to put £424.00 and rapidly running out of funds, despite making several phone calls, trying to escalate to the next level only to be told to call the emergency team, only to be told there's nothing that can be done as we have power. This company is an absolute farce and should not be allowed to trade!!!

Dreadful service

Dreadful customer service with rude and incompetent staff. I moved to house with pay as you go meter but was not aware of this. I registered with sse for an account in my name but they never explained about the meter or how to top it up. I was promised a welcome pack that still gas not come after a month. Consequently I ran out of electricity and could contact no one who could assist for three days. Got instructions for a device i didnt have and the rep hung up on me. Now I have an on line account but tells me sse are not supplying my gas yet!! They have been for some time.
A simply dreadful service which could have been far more serious had I been elderly or vulnerable and they couldn't care less.
I have now switched and the new service has been exemplary with me kept up to date throughout the process. I had my welcome pack the next day. Still waiting for sse to get it together.

Request by myself and Energy Ombudsman…

Request by myself and Energy Ombudsman from last week.

I hereby request a deadlock letter from yourselves after a request from Ombudsman from last week. You acknowledged two complaints from May 018 and March 2020 but failed to take appropriate action. Yet another call was made last week and answered eventually by a South African male making this request. Please act otherwise matter will be raised before County Court as I've been to great expense over 5 years calling you and getting nowhere.

Disgusted to find that SSE have been…

Disgusted to find that SSE have been charging our charity £1.62 per day standing charge, not to mention the sky high unit charges.
It went unnoticed when our treasurer left and the bills were just paid.
Happily, we have now switched to a 42p per day standing charge and a saving of 14p per unit with another supplier.
Shame on you SSE taking advantage of charities..

"Final bill" for pay as you go meter!

Disgusting. I left the flat with credit on the meter and an unused government energy bill support voucher. The tenant who moved in after me can confirm it and I explained as such to their "customer service" to no avail. Now I am being extorted for £75 or more and hounded by debt collectors with threats to my credit score as well. It's literally impossible that I could owe £75 on a pay as you go (pre-payment) meter anyway because they would cut the electricity before I owed that much.

I got a decision from Ombudsman against SSE inappropriate demand letters in March 2023 but they are still sending me demand letters even though they had previously apologised. This shows a huge lack of any concern for their own shallow apology that SSE were forced to make by the Ombudsman. This energy suppliers are playing with people`s lives and they need to be stopped.

SCAMMERS - WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE

For the last 2 months, I have been raising my dispute with SSE and they have not till today been able to resolve or even have the courtesy to explain and provide me with a revised bill or reasonable answer.

As I have explained to them in numerous phone calls and speaking to different advisers.

The bill in question is for from 31st of March 2021 to 12th April 2021. So based on reading I have provided to them and the logged reading, the price allocated does not match and they can justify to me why I have been billed £775.39 for a period of 11 days.

From my last discussion with an adviser, we went through my below readings:-

Gas:- acct G4K00126611601 – 31st March reading = 11059 till 12th April reading = 11996, so that is a usage of 937KW. So at a price of £0.0736 = I should be billed = £68.96

Electricity – acct 19L2012616 – 31st March reading = 10190 till 12th April reading = 10210, so that is a usage of 980KW. So at a price of 0.02093 = I should be billed = £20.51

So my bill all together should be £68.96+ £20.51 = £ 89.47

I have been calling SSE almost every day... demanded to speak to a manager to no avail. When I question them they put me on hold and disconnect the line. This is frustrating and a complete rip-off. The advisers do not know what they are talking about!!!!!! Nobody seems to understand my bill and they have no managers or complaints department to help resolve my matter. I WANT TO PAY MY BILL!!!!!! Provide me with an accurate bill and I PAY!! I am taking this matter further as I would like to settle my debt but nobody can explain where the bill of over £700 pounds has come from.

I have requested an itemised bill, but nobody in there call centre can be able to send it to me because they know they are scamming me.

TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE!!!!! SSE have then forwarded me to CAPITAL RESOLVE who are their debt collectors. I discussed my account with them and raised a dispute to try and come to an agreement but EVEN then they could not resolve it and eventually sent me the below email!!!!!
Thank you for contacting Capital Resolve.

I’m writing to you in response to your recent communication relating to case number S5841552.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to help in resolving the dispute between yourself and our client, and have now closed our files. You will hear nothing further from Capital Resolve in relation to case number S5841552.

your debt COLLECTORS CAN NOT RESOLVE AS WELL.

Absolute Shambles! Terrible service and 4 different bills saying different things! None of the staff can tell us why this is.

We have had non stop issues with Southern electric and their so called readings.
On the 17th May 2023 we received a bill from SSE saying that we owe £0.00 and our account was in CREDIT by £4,398.07(I do have pictures of these bills if requested). We then receive absolutely nothing from SSE till the 22 June 2023 when we're slapped with a letter saying we've defaulted on our electricity bill by £7,487.93!!!!!! Now as a couple looking at mortgages for our first house you can imagine the emotional distress this put us in, Im not exaggerating when I say I was in such a panic that I was in tears, id like to add we live in a 2 bedroom flat, there is absolutely NO WAY you would spend that much money. We contacted SSE who were no help, kept saying we had a smart meter installed and that this smart meter is telling us that between the 17th May and 29 June we used nearly £11,885 worth of electric, they said they would call us back in 24 hours, this was on the 28th June , as predicted, we never received a phone call 24 hours later, and are yet to have anyone contact us about this. The next thing you know we get another bill/statement from SSE the day after saying that from 31st March 2023 t0 28th June 2023 we had electricity charges of £1,915.16 and that bought our total that they are telling us we have used from the 17th May 2023 to 29th June 2023 to £13,801 over 42 days!!!!
Does that sound right to ANYONE for a two bedroom flat?! With the current financial climate I cannot BELIEVE SSE is putting people through this emotional distress and being little to no help when you try to understand your bill/rectify the issue.
There is CLEARLY a fault with the smart meter that has been installed and we are crying out for a senior member of the SSE/OVO team to help us get to a resolution.
This post is a cry for help for SSE to please listen and contact us. This is out of control and would suggest that our electricity bill in a 2 bed flat would be over £100,000!!!

Waited 6 months to send a final bill

Waited 6 months to send a final bill, charged me for a period I didn't own the property even though I told them in January what date I purchased the property and the customer service agent just repeatedly refused to stop sending the bills for the previous tenant to my house because they don't have an alternative address. What sense does it make to send chasing letters to a property you know someone doesn't live in? My smart meter stopped working the same day they started chasing the final bill.
