As per every other review on here

As per every other review on here, we have been having major issues with SSE going back to September 2023 when they changed us over to the EVOLVE software. Invoices and meter reads became impossible to understand, with “ reversals” “credits” “ forwards” the bills never tied up with last meter reads. They took £1999 by DD which was not due and they could not explain. It is impossible to get through on the telephone, often there is background noise and once children fighting so the agent couldn’t hear me. I have sent over 30 e mails made over 50 calls. The ombudsman was hopeless the first time, better the second. SSE chose not to engage initially. We had been with this company for over 40 years, their customer care is the worst I have ever ever known. They are constantly fined for overcharging and bad service and not carrying out the ombudsman’s instructions. Stay away from SSE / OVO at ALL COST.

Efficient, Helpful, Personable

I dealt with an extremely helpful operative, Jason Foster, they dealt with my query in an extremely personable and efficient manner. From start to finish the business query was taken seriously and thanks to Jason's help I was able to continue with my work.
If I could give 6/5 start I would

Attention SSE governing body:

Just I had a letter from SSE that my business contract has come to an end last month and the tariff revert to standard because that I haven't renewed it last month.
The surprising fact is that I have contract until 2026 and they wanted me to pay enormously amount by cheating the system and wrongly accuses me that I ignored the renewal date.
I don't understand why thegovernment is not doing anything about it to help people with their misery and why not auditing and punishing these companies for their wrong doing as they are living with the blood and sweat of the misery of the public.
it's beyond my imagination that when I called them and gave them the proof and evidence that it's not true and they are falsely claiming that the contract has ended, they just said:
Oh sorry that letter sent by mistake so sometimes it happens.
When I see the public comments here with all the red comments and reviews, it increases my blood pressure.
For God's sake there is a law and a proper system and rules to follow!! Why don't anyone care and bother about these problems that created by these big utility companies?
Please someone in somewhere need to do something and clean this miss.

How bad will this get after nearly 2 years of aggravation we have to deal with another issue .... keep away from this company as they are truly incompetent and yet they claim to be using renewable energy .... keep away from those scammers ....

Mugged off at every level

Mugged off at every level

Customer services, 8 out of 10 calls, depends who answers.
Complaints by andre
Director level complaints by Robert

They all drink the same Kool-ade, say it nicely and hit no milestone given and repeat you owe a large sum of money.

For justification, read near enough every other review. They used to respond to these, that seems to have stopped.
So just a pure warning, we're large business so worth some money, I would suggest no one touch them from LB to residential.

Clearly a company in a lo is this the lowest trust pilot score on the UK?t of trouble

Clearly a company in a lot of trouble. All the systems seem broken and because of the current UK law I'm shackled to this sinking ship. My currently derelict building has received 4 bills for £500 each month even though the power isn't connected. Each phone call is over 2hrs long (20 of them in total so far) . Each time the caller assures me all issue have been fixed. Then debt collectors are sent to my property to collect funds. Language barrier with camera is a huge problem, computer systems are often not working and the online resources crash all the time. What other industry could get away with this level of theft and incompetence? Is this the lowest trust pilot score in the UK?

SSE Business Energy - incompetent, lazy, lying

As a residential management company, we had the misfortune to be a SSE Business Energy customer until 31/10/2024 but the problems did not end there. Having been overcharged consistently on the basis of estimated readings - no actual readings taken for > 3 years - we changed supplier and sent in final readings for the two meters (one for each block of flats) to both SSE and the new supplier on 31/10/2024. SSE Business Energy also asked for readings for 01/11/2024 from us and the new supplier, which were given. We were due a refund on both meters and received one refund in early January 2025 after two months of persistent calling to Customer Services and receiving two months of assurances that "the Refund Team were looking into it". The refund on the other meter is larger and still hasn't been paid. Speaking to a series of Customer Service Assistants, their reasons for the non-appearance of the refund is: a) "it is with the Refund Team", b) "the Refund Team are looking into it", c) "there are too many [!] estimated readings and they [?] cannot calculate the final invoice [and the final refund] and, today, d) "no final readings have been received from the new supplier" [this despite both me and the new supplier giving readings for both meters at the change over and SSE being able to calculate the refund for the other meter].

Worst energy company ever

Worst energy company ever. We purchased a property in March and created an account for the relevant meters after spending 1 hr on the phone each time just waiting to speak to someone. Then by December we had a bill of over £6000 for a meter that does not even exist on our property. Their staff just hand you around claiming its not their job to deal with your problem.

AVOID SSE

Was living in a property supplied by sse, was told by housing association that my gas meter was broken and to ring the energy supplier to fix it. After being told, I rang them multiple times across a couple of months to fix it, there answer was always ‘you’ll get a text with a date within the next 30 days for a date of a fix’ I never received a text of them, nor did anyone come out to fix my gas meter. 18 months after moving out of the property, I then get a text from PDCS saying I owe over £1000 for my gas. I’ve had no letters or communication from SSE themselves, nor have I had any from the debt company. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Scam

Been paying £1500-£2000 a month for electric which seems to be steady and then random. I’ve had a few people come and take meter readings. We got behind on one bill due to a customer not paying but tried to sort out a payment plan - refused.
We had someone come and say the needed to turn the electric off but let us try and sort it. December I was outstanding around £3,000 which id been paying £500 a week
Today received a letter with a man to turn off supply because they “estimated” my bill and now I owe them £40K
We are literally going to loose our business there’s no way we could generate this much use.
Our meter readings don’t match and they’re saying now that because they don’t have regular meter readings they have to carry on
Don’t use!!!!!

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE PLEASE!!!

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE PLEASE!!!!

I am a business customer. First few bills for my tiny salon seemed reasonable £200 ish. Then I got a couple for £550 and paid them despite being concerned but naively trusting. Next one was just short of £1100 although this wasn't a bill just a final demand. The bill hadn't arrived the month before. After 9 months of calls and emails and estimated bills, even a new meter which is also not functioning properly they have now entered my business and disconnected my business power and refusing to reconnect unless I pay just short of £6000!!! In full!!!!

Even the disconnection engineer said the new meter which was disconnected was not commissioned because the serial number he was instructed to disconnect didn't match the meter he disconnected.

Currently unable to open my business and trade, raised complaints with Offgem and energy ombudsman, contacted a lawyer and local MP but for now my livlihood is gone unless I pay them £6000 which I do not believe I owe and in full. I have a tiny business and definitely don't have that money spare. I have been in constant frustrating contact with them about the incorrect estimated bills and not 1 but 2 faulty meters and this is how it stands now. Its absolutely criminal! Everyone around me is saying it's like the Bates and Post Office cases and I feel like I am in a nightmare right now. Please please please avoid this company. Looking at all the reviews it's clear I am not an isolated case, I genuinely assumed they were a reputable company. But absolutely not the case. No idea how I am going to survive until this is sorted

Disgusting attitude and customer service.

Disgusting attitude and customer service from call centre staff. Entirely unhelpful. Will ensure no further business is conducted with them and would encourage anyone else considering this to do the same.

Horrid experience

Horrid experience. Moved into a property supplied by SSE. Domestic property. As SSE supply they are the ones that have to switch my account from business to domestic. After 4 months, 10 calls, several assurances this would be done later I am still not changed to a domestic account. I am on the worst rates, uncapped and nothing I can do about it untill SSE sort it out and change my account to domestic

Would give zero stars if I could

Would give zero stars if I could. Compete disgrace. Read other people's reviews of them stealing they're customers money and have to agree. Got meter change which had money on it told to ask for refund over month ago still waiting now topped up card to put gas on and it has fault and I have to send the card in for refund pay the postage and pay for new card. They really are the scumiest company I've dealt with. Should not be dealing with energy in fact should be shut down and ceos need exposed for they're scams and put in prison.

Absolutely awful service from SSE…

Absolutely awful service from SSE Business Energy. Didn't bill our account for over a year due to a 'problem with the meter reading' and didn't inform us of this. I had to call 3 times and then write a formal complaint to get this looked into. They have now billed against Ofgem Back-Billing rules, despite me requesting these rules to be applied ahead of receiving the invoices. Called customer service, waited on the line for over 30 minutes only to be finally served by a patronising agent who kept asking for information on my account but wouldn't tell me where to find said information. What a horrible experience all round. Will be switching ASAP and advise you stay away from SSE.

Simply awful

Simply awful, with no idea how to build client relations, handle queries or deal with issues and concerns.
To crown the experience of attempting to interact with SSE, I received an automated satisfaction survey - that didn't work properly either.....
I would be very concerned if I were a senior exec in this company.
