Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 24 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall with these products. Consumers frequently encounter major durability issues, such as tool bodies cracking under light pressure, blades going blunt immediately after first use, and hardware components failing completely after minimal wear. People also express deep frustration regarding incompatible battery designs, missing features, and replacement parts that simply do not match previous models. Some reviewers were satisfied with specific items, noting that certain tool kits and hedge trimmers perform very well during projects. Others appreciated the robust design, solid value, and long-lasting history of using these brand products over the years.

I’m really disappointed with this Stanley toolbox. The plastic feels cheap, and after only light, normal use it snapped like it was made to break. I wasn’t overloading it or abusing it—just carrying... See more

It's a lot of rubbish

Sort out the problem very disappointed with this product I spent 40 years working in the motor trade I even have tools that date back to the 50s I have to say that Stanley have gone to crap this fatmax 700 is just rubbish followed the instructions to the letter and as soon as you take it off charge it's needs recharging and won't even jump start my motorcycle now trying to return it and no one wants to do anything about it last time I buy anything with Stanley on it update having waited for this item to be collected for return I have now been told that the company who was picking it up from my address has said that the will not collect it and I have to send it back and that Stanley will only refund me a max of £15 as this product has to go to the USA I'm going to be out of pocket how is this right!!!

I purchased a cordless jigsaw and I…

I purchased a cordless jigsaw and I don’t use it very often,
Just after 1 year there was a fault and the blade does not stay in the machine.
I contacted them under the 3 year warranty to be told that my item has no warranty because I registered it 2 days late.
I tried to ask there customer service why I have no warranty and they just reply with the same message , that I have to pay for the repair.
I look after my tools and the jigsaw is in new condition as I don’t use it very often just for handy work around the home.
I am very disappointed with the aftercare service and will not be buying any other items from Stanley.
Buyers be aware

Without doubt the worst customer…

Without doubt the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced, I have managed to get a replacement for my faulty product albeit not to the same spec, this took almost 30 emails over 3 months and when they did send it out they sent it to a pick up point without even telling me.

FatMax Power Station

FatMax Power Station - FAIL - WORTHLESS WARRANTY

Compressor failed to compress after 1/2 dozen or less uses. "Warranty" requires buyer to ship junk to 3rd party repair facility on buyer's dime. Obviously this is done to dissuade buyer from exercising warranty claim.

Bought a block plane and larger plane…

Bought a block plane and larger plane on Amazon. Expected alot more. The sole plates were so rough. Looked like they had been scabbled if I didn't know better I would have thought they were copies. Will never buy Stanley tools again if this is the quality they are doing.

Terribly Customer Service & Poor Quality Goods

Diabolical customer service. I have two Stanley FatMax Pro-Stack Mobile Storage boxes both with the same design fault in that it will not clip to the box above unless you sit on it. It is a design/ tooling issue yet Stanley clearly cant be bothered and fob you off with pointless emails through there ticket system. Despite having provided a copy of my receipt with my full billing address I was asked for it again and then finally got this response. ......

We're sorry to hear of your experience, however we are unable to assess Stanley FatMax Pro-Stack and would not be able to comment on particular situations of these products will be dependent on a number of factors of which we would have no way of validating. Some examples of this would be the level of usage, how the item is stored, etc. Furthermore, as this is with in the warranty. The next best option we would advise would be to have the product further assessed and repaired by any of our service centres.

Please contact our warranty team Tool-Cal UK at 01785 716206 or email them at XXXXX or may also place your warranty claim to this link: XXXXX

For further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us again. Thank you for your continued support........

So where they state 'Some examples of this would be the level of usage, how the item is stored, etc'.... does this have special storage requirements, perhaps it requires its own bed, aircon, perhaps a bed time drink. Is it not made for builders & other trades etc to take around and use on building sites etc. Neither of mine have been anywhere near a building site.

I also fail to understand why they asked for my address in one of the emails when they had no intention of dealing with my issue.

I then sent an email to the email addy they gave me and it bounced back.

It says it all

I ordered two stackable green cups from Stanley and received two red travel mugs.

They have refused all attempts to contact them to arrange an exchange; I am forced to conclude that it is their policy to ship random garbage from their warehouse and run away with the customer's money.

No Service at all

Tried to get a carburettor adjustment tool for an STR 4 in 1, 2 stroke petrol engine. Asked Stanley for help. Their service was useless. Still no further forward. They don't even make they product! They're made under licence by someone else. I've been going around in circles for weeks now. Tried one of Stanley's service centre's who said "we'd just stick something in there"!
Would've been no stars if that was an option

Purchased a FatMax mower cost £400.00, charged the batteries, slotted them in, inserted the key and then......nothing tried a number of times, still nothing. Taking in back to Homebase first thing in the morning. Will not be accepting a Stanley replacement, don’t waste your time with this product.

I purchased a TL1KPLS rechargeable…

I purchased a TL1KPLS rechargeable flash light it worked for 2 months after that it never held a charge -- Call Customer Service with in ten seconds she said throw it away no warranty it is no longer being made -- she was rude told me she has understood warranty since she was a little girl therefore I should to -- I ask to speak to a manager she said she was the manager. She told me to do what ever I wanted with the flashlight-- This company make Craftsman, Stanley, Black & Decker -- They are horrible -- I purchased this light for emergencies so I could recharge in a car or to a battery back up paid over $70.00 -- And this company gave me LIP SERVICES AND THEY SENT THE MESSAGE TO ME THAT I WAS STUPID THAT I PUT MY FAITH IN A ONCE PROUD LEGACY BRAND.

Stanley Fatmax knife 010778

Bought a Stanley Fatmax knife model no: 010778 this has a small red button on the side used to change the blade, This button snapped into two pieces after four months of light use which renders the knife useless,
Contacted Stanley online to try get a replacement part and was told they don’t make spare parts for these knives ?
Would not recommend these at all…!

Fatmax V20 cordless drill

Bought a Fatmax V20 drill thinking it might be a good brand. It was a big mistake, chuck is sloppy from new, chuck doesn't hold the drill bit firmly. The cheap Ozito was far better.
