My last 3 purchases via steam using iDEAL(Wero) went terrible. There was about a month inbetween each purchase and all of them had trouble. For the first one it told me to wait, they needed to check... See more

Best service out there, don't listen to the 1 star bots.
Literally just the best experience for gaming out there.
Free refunds, great customer review. I've had 100% of my refunds actually refunded within hours. They listen to their customers and they deliver. Valve is the best company that didn't let money make them evil.
Fun fact, I just now bought a game hours before it went on sale, even tho I've played more than the maximum 2 hours; I can STILL get a refund.

Awful one star reviews on here
Notice most of the one star reviews on here are user issues like the got dlc they cant refund when it has always been the case since refunds got introduced that you cant refund dlc's or even that there is not enough moderation like believe it or not valve is not a gigantic corp and they run things without some kind of ai scanning literally everything you do to 'moderate' it (like some kind of survailence state) like how it should be. It really does feel like epic games has paid off some of these reviews. And some others are complete user stupidity and rage. Your live service games breaking on you after 10 hours of playing them due to an update because the modern game industry is awful is not Valves/steams responsibility. 14 years of being on steam and I have had very little problems and what little I needed from steam support worked out fine in the end. The rules around things like refunds or how things are run are there and they will not bend them for you or anybody else.
Support is not important for steam just stealing your money
Just stealing your money with non existent support. The steam app is just an utter joke with so many bugs. And when you try and report it you just end up in a catch-22 since you are not allowed to contact them diretly but just via their prepared problems, but the problem is usually steam app.

I charged back my credit card when my steam deak was lost in transit and both steam and the courier would not help. steam then locked my account "due to criminal activity" when i asked for evidence they said my account was locked for "excessive chargebacks" which was only one when i couldnt get my issues resolved. chargebacks are created to protect the seller in these instances. steam have now received payment and i still have my account locked. i have made formal complaint with the accc ( a goverment support against corrupt buisnesses) I just wanted people to hear about this before they give any money to this horrible company. think im only the only one? check the google reviews.

Wow, dont trust this platform
Wow, be very careful with this platform, I trusted it as it had a game I wanted, It was so hard to get rid of when I deleted the game due to constant messages, the game was Planet Coaster 2, It took over my graphics settings so it made it difficult for my other games/programs. I would avoid it.
Worst customer support I have ever dealt with
Finally about to use Steam for the first time. Usually just downloaded free games, but I decided to treat myself and get Helldivers 2. Enjoyed it for like five hours total over the course of a week. I don’t have tons of time to game. Then the devs(this is when the game first came out) released an update and I literally couldn’t play the game. Black screen after black screen.
I decided to troubleshoot. I troubleshooted to the point that my last and final option was to completely factory reset my operating system. I was not going to do that for a $39.99 game. I asked for a refund and Steam told me no. Why? Because even though I wasn’t actually playing the game the time I spent relaunching while trouble shooting still counted towards my playtime. So at this point I’m still unable to play and I’m stuck with a game I can’t play. After going back and forth they would not budge.
Month later the game finally works, but during that time as any responsible consumer would I initiated a claim through my bank. I didn’t even want the game anymore. I didn’t play it I just thought I’d test it. Then after the claim when I went to see if the game was still there and was still working to consider my options on how to proceed with Steam they revoked my license and restricted my payment claiming this is their policy to prevent fraud. They requested I cancel the claim and then I can get the license back.
I called my bank, cancelled the claim, sent them the letter that was provided by my bank stating the claim was cancelled and that $39.99 was deducted my account. Was that the end?
Nope. They wanted me to get an additional letter from my bank with their letter head to show further proof that the funds were transferred to them. At this point I’ve the threatened to call the FTC, CFPB, make a statement on the BBB and contact the Washington state attorney general because that is where Valve has their HQ. To go through all of this that could’ve been resolved quickly is insane.
Also live service games should not be subject to the 8 hours refund policy. 8 hours of a single player game is a good chunk of a game. Live service? That barely scratches the surface considered the intention behind the game is for it to be played for hundreds, even possibly over a thousand hours considering loyalty and if the live service has a long lifespan. Steam is awesome until you actually need assistance. You have been warned.

I wanted to write my story but after reading others i see theres no point!
This is absolutley a bad company and are showing its power. To many of those now.
I'm happy with steam.
I see a lot of negative experiences, some about support for older windows versions, some about negative customer support experiences.
It's always sad to see people having bad experiences.
However, I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Steam.
I've been on steam since April 2010 and have, at the time of this review, 222 games and 687 DLC's in my account.
In that time i've had bad purchases, payment errors, game services going offline, games no longer working, newly bought games not working and steamkeys not working. Customer support has always been able to help me. Either with solutions to make something work again, links to support from game developers, and in some cases where nothing worked they gave me refunds.
Steam itself is easy to use, has a HUGE amount of available games (including free), fun events and frequent discounts.
The steam community, aside from some toxic people, is mostly helpful and friendly. Offensive behaviour is punished and good behavior is rewarded with badges and rewards from other people.
There's a huge amount of collectibles from games and funny extra's can be bought with points, earned with purchases.
Overall, i'm happy with steam, more so then with other platforms, and will continue to use it in the future.
I can also recommend Steam to every other PC user, as it's safe, easy to use, beginner friendly and has an awesome support.

0 star no rights to any refund after 2 hr of trying to get games work no uk sales laws its a complete scam cant even play the game you buy without logging in or using steam its disgusting they just take your money and leave you with an unplayable game
Unfair dude. Just unfair
I've been happily playing games on Steam for over 4 years. Only solo games. Nothing multiplayer. Now Windows 7 is no longer supported so I can't buy/download/plays games anymore. A windows upgrade is not an option for me and their suggestion of doing with Linux is too confusing for me to figure out. I've requested refunds then on the games I can no longer play and have been denied. Very unfair practice to stop allowing me to play the games I have purchased.

Raging mad at poor customer service
Absolutely ridiculous! I am very annoyed and angry and frustrated!
To get into my old account (which i have emails of changing over the email to my new one)
And apparently the only information missing now is the last 4 digits of a card i would have used 4 or 5 cards ago! Like I can remember or have that information stored, so now everything i had bought over the years is lost! Complete and utter scam artists!

I have not been able to login for MONTHS. I have emailed support and no help. I have even created new accounts, and deleted the app many times. Nothing wroks. It is so frustrating as there are games I want to reinstall and I cant access them. Poor system.
Making a quick profit and trashing long-term oriented customers
I am a novice into video games, recently bought a Steam Deck. I bought MANY games in bundles from Steam and haven't had a chance to review them immediately. In addition I didn't really understand what "unsupported", "playable" and "verified" meant, I thought that since they sell them on Steam, they should be fine.
However, a month later - as soon as I realised that some games don't operate on Deck with 1' or 2' "playtime" - I asked for a refund. Guess, what they refuse to refund...
I have bought from Steam so many games that I cherish while some others DON'T PLAY on Deck - for which I am not responsible: it's Steam who sell unsupported games to people who cannot always understand their jargon, how purchases work, under what conditions etc. Making a quick profit and trashing long-term oriented customers in 2026? Yes, STEAM DOES THIS.
