Saw an ad on Facebook for a Peugeot 5008 that said it looks nice and drives nice. Drove for 4 hours to pick it up. Staff seemed unorganised. Inside looked fine bar some appearance issues. The outside however, was extremely scuffed, all 4 wheels had been curbed, fairly high mileage diesel, white smoke coming out the engine and thick black smoke coming out of the exhaust. When the engine was running lots of air being forced out the oil cap and out the dipstick. At a guess (my partner has a degree in engineering and was luckily with us) the piston rings or the head gasket had failed on this engine. Staff didn't seem to care, showed us another vehicle that had similar engine issues (to slightly less extent) that was heavily corroded underneath. Staff then said "some cars are good, some are bad" and were very dismissive about serious issues. Have seen other reviews about other people breaking down on the motorway immediately after purchasing the vehicles. I suspect this is what would have happened had we purchased this vehicle. Even the mechanic had not even seen the Peugeot and all Staff were in a foul mood. It only got worse when we said we weren't going to buy a car from them. Would not buy a car from here at all considering a breakdown on any of the busy roads and motorways near this dealership could cause potential loss of life. One of the worst car dealerships my partner had ever seen (and they go to a lot of dealerships)

The car I purchased was unsafe to drive
Thankfully I broke down on a motorway causing no harm to myself or child or anyone else.
6 hours later under the warranty company they use my car was taken to a garage of which I had to pay extra for as there were no garages within the 20 miles. To then be told the car would cost around £3000 to fix and that I was extremely lucky as things could have been worse.
I have not been given a refund and been ignored for weeks to then be sworn at and threatened to be taken to court. They have used bullying tactics and intimidation to try to con me as a woman buyer! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.
I have reported to trading standards
Paid a deposit on a car
Paid a deposit on a car, called up day before collection only to be told it had been sold! Deposit refunded but no apology given

Bomb site car sales
Bomb site car sales, looks like a scrap yard behind a tyre shop. Up a goat track. Staff are obnoxious to say the least. I won a slk on ebay auction. Had to pay £100 deposit by bank transfer(what a fool I am)
After a 3 hour drive to collect it. I find the gearbox is not changing gears correctly. I asked for my deposit to be refunded. The girl says it takes 5 days. Now they ignore my calls and emails. Scammers. Worst car buying experience ever. They manipulate their ebay feedback. I left honest negative feedback. It was removed within an hour. Don't believe the 5 star reviews, they are left by staff.
BE VERY CAREFUL DEALING WITH STIRLING CARS…. VERY CAREFUL
So I was going to look at a VW they had advertised on eBay. I contacted them over a few days to ask questions and got the answers I was looking for.
All arranged with them for me to have a viewing with the cash in my pocket. I arranged a mechanic at my cost to drive me there. Drove all the way from Southend to their place in Reading ringing before I left to tell them I was on my way.
Arrived 3hrs later to be told they sold it 20mins ago. In total an 8hr wasted journey plus the cost of the mechanic/fuel.
They new I was coming. When I phoned to complain they said we have another coming in next week for 13k. Do you honestly think I would come back for another wasted journey?
Absolute incompetent people running a business who just don’t care about customers in anyway shape or form.
Going by other reviews I’m not the only one. So be careful dealing with these people.
AVOID!
AVOID!
Paid deposit for the car few days before coming.
Also been told my old car is accepted as part exchange.
Drove 150 miles with my car and with rented (500 Sunday rate) trailer and mechanic for the new car.
When I've been almost there and rang them to tell that I'm nearly there they said the car isn't here and they don't know where it is.
The company cars are located on the backyard looking like scrap yard.
The next day i found that car had broken folding roof and mechanical gearbox problem.
Lost all day and lot of money because nobody told me before arrived that car is scrap.
Their phone line staff wasn't helpful.
They aren't answering for mails with complaints.
If You don't want to waste your time and money simple just find other car company!!!
I WOULDN'T NOT RECOMMEND!!!
Less then 1 star.

AVOID COMPLETE TIME WASTERS
This company trades on ebay as carswithnoreservereading DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! They are complete time wasters and have been reported to ebay.
Honestly they think people have nothing better to do then get messed about .
What a fantastic buying experience
I just completed on an EBay auction with carswithnoreservereading AKA Sterling cars Reading. It was a 2011 T5 caravelle for way under its real value. It was described as Stunning Looking / a Stunning example, a really lovely looking motor!!!
Did they lie? NO NO NO
Did they claim it was perfect? NO
Was it perfect? As perfect as you could expect from a 11year old car.
We found 1 very tiny trolley dent and a small GRP grazing on the bumper and a scratch to the OSR quarter panel behind the wheel arch (really didn’t notice it until the next day cleaning it as it has been cleverly disguised by the former owner with the fitting of decals on both rear panels) but that’s it for now the decals will stay but I’ve been quoted £280 to get it sorted, doing some research I reckon I’ve saved £6 to £6.5k judging by Auto trader and Market prices, too those that suggest or think that Sterling cancel the sale if they end too cheap well I can certainly tell you they didn’t do that to me!
Did they allow us time to look?
YES, we were given the key and left to it.
Did they allow a test drive?
YES, we arranged our own temporary insurance and went for a test drive (just myself and the wife) we were out for about 45minutes stuck in traffic through Reading but then getting on the Motorway and giving it a great test.
From winning the auction to collecting the vehicle I dealt with at least 3 of the SC team and every single one of them was professional, polite and friendly!
Needless to say our 4 hour drive down to SC wasn’t wasted, we completed the purchase.
I’ve read most of the reviews about SC and I can only assume that those who haven’t left positive comments are probably those that didn’t read the comprehensive and sound advice listed in all of their auction listings and really didn’t take the time to check the vehicle thoroughly, or take someone with them who could check it.
(I genuinely believe we could have been there all day with out being bothered) we were there two or three hours and were left alone the whole time, with just the occasional staff smiling or saying hi, but just in passing.
Would I buy another vehicle from (carswithnoreservereading) Sterling?
Without a doubt!!!!!
Can't speak highly enough of them
Can't speak highly enough of them, I went to see 2 cars & they freely gave me keys to vehicles to test drive no questions asked & no hassle . Test drove a couple of others, saw a car that had sold on auction only bidder didn't have funds to pay for it.
I phoned in week put a deposit down & picked up car on 13/10/22 - Justyn even lowered agreed price & put fuel in .!!!!
If you want flashy glass showroom & suits etc No its not the Place for you. If you want decent cars at great value prices & they'll tell you what they know about the car. Definitely worth visiting.
I'll be buying from them again.

Rude Scammers
Rude, unhelpful and constantly trying to make you buy cars that have been touched up and made to look better.
2016 bmw x5 78k miles , after further inspection on coding programme turns out the milage has been tampered with before each MOT and actual milage was 180k miles.
I bought a Hyundai i40 2015 on Ebay…
I bought a Hyundai i40 2015 on Ebay while Clutch and Anti-roll bar drop link gone after 1 week of purchase, explained everything in an email and been advised to call to owner of business on mobile but owner was very rude and refused to help me by saying that these are wear & tear. Although as per The Consumer Rights Act 2015 I have 30 days to return a faulty car which is not roadworthy, reliable and able to be used as you would expect but owner advised to read Ebay terms & conditions about used car. Be prepare to loss lots of money if you are interested in their cars as customer service is extremely bad.
I bought a Jaguar a couple of months…
I bought a Jaguar a couple of months ago and I am very pleased with it, Jason arranged the road Tax for me and I found him honest and straightforward to deal with.
This is the second vehicle I've bought from him. I bought a Jeep Cherokee a few years ago and that too was a great buy.
There are local mechanics that for £140 will give the vehicle a thorough inspection.
I would recommend ringing in advance before picking up your vehicle as it seems they have a huge turnover and it might take them a few days or more to collect it from the auction. If you want to buy a car trade price this is the place to go.
Crap crap not more to say apart from…
Crap crap not more to say apart from AVOID.
Do your homework, and you can definitely get a bargain
I think some of the negative reviews here are based on unrealistic expectations. If you want a pristine car with a warranty, go to a showroom or dealership and pay the premium prices that go with it. If you want to pay ££££ less on a second hand car, and you're willing to do your homework and do your own checks, then Sterling cars is perfect. You will always take a risk on buying a second hand car, because guess what, it's used and parts wear out and need replacing. The staff at Sterling cars make this VERY CLEAR before you bid on their cars. To expect to pay out on items that need fixing. And as a result, you are likely to be able to buy a car that is vastly cheaper than what you would pay privately or at a dealership. So go with your eyes and your mind open. Do your own checks, look up the car's MOT history and ask about the service record. Do a thorough check of the car and test drive (which you are allowed as much time as you need) before you make up your mind. If you're not happy, walk away. This is all very straight forward and relies on YOU being smart enough to make your own decisions. If you're willing to take all of this on board, then you can absolutely get some superb bargains from these people.
Worst company ever!!
Worst company ever!!! AVOID!!!!
Selling dodgy cars !!! Look at reviews allover. They will trick you to pay and then don't want to talk to you anymore!!!
Don't bother with this lot contacted…
Don't bother with this lot contacted them to book an appointment told them I had a hour and a half drive, they said that was fine, when I got to their business which I would say looked more like a scrap yard they told me they sold the car 10 minutes ago, When I said I had a booked appointment to view the car all they said was we sell cars all day long, They have terrible customer service and if they conduct themselves like that to a potential customer i can only imagine how bad they would be when they have your money, I will never use them and would suggest you don't. If there is any 2,3,4 or 5 star ratings then they have written them themselves.
