I can't recommend Story Homes after my awful buying experience.
Everything started off great but turned sour before completion.
After waiting almost a year for my perfect home with 30 odd grand of 'upgrades', I first entered the house during a snagging inspection and left extremely disappointed.

I was given a legal completion date and arranged for an independent Snagger to attend site the week before. The appointment was arranged by the snagger through the sales office so we could attend at an appropriate time. When I arrived with the snagger, the house wasn't complete and ready for snagging, and there were a number of tradesman in laying carpets and rectifying brickwork defects so we had to rearrange for a later date. I did however notice a lot of quality defects during this first visit, one of which was the wrong colour internal doors. During the options appointment when asked if I wanted white painted doors or unpainted oak doors I opted for unpainted and even changed my mind on the flooring colour so it would better match the oak doors which I loved. However on arrival, white poorly painted doors had been fitted so I immediately reported this to the site supervisor and also mentioned it to the sales woman (as I was concerned the newly fitted carpets would get dirty when they changed the doors) to which she rolled her eyes and laughed "not again!". She reassured me these would be changed and sheeting would be used to protect the carpets, so I left slightly less disappointed.
Later that week I got an email to say the oak doors weren't on my 'upgrades' order form, despite discussing this in extensive detail at my options appointment on and on several occasions before that! The sales agent had missed it from the order and I hadn't noticed as I hadn't even been told the unpainted doors were something I would have to pay extra for, so the wrong doors had been ordered and fitted and apparently there's nothing they're prepared to do about it.

The second snagging inspection visit was rearranged for 3 days prior to legal completion and when we arrived the ground workers were laying the garden turf in a very unconventional fashion (directly onto dry stones then pressing it on with a roller!).
71 snags were listed in the inspectors report, some of which are major. The inspector commented that the Quality of Story Homes has massively gone downhill since the last time he snagged one on another site. He said "they used to be one of the good ones".

I'm so disappointed and upset with the poor quality and workmanship throughout my brand new house that I'm no longer excited about moving in. The whole thing has just been rushed and I'm shocked at how little pride some people take in their work. It's got me extremely depressed, and it's totally ruined the experience for me. Combine that with the HORRIBLE attitude of the sales manager, their refusal to rectify snags before I move in (I'm told Miller Homes on the same site rectify all reported snags within a week) and their obstructiveness when trying to arrange a day to pick up the keys - I wish I'd never bought from them.

If you don't mind cowboy builders and do choose to buy from Story, I'd say don't waste your money on any of the 'upgrades', they're a total rip off and not worth what you pay. You'd be better off getting the standard stuff and refurbishing afterwards with good quality materials and trusted tradesman.

We have recently exchanged contracts on our new home at Elmbrook Park with Story Homes, and we couldn't be happier with the experience.

From the start, Emma and Naila have been exceptional. They are professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to help. Their communication throughout the process has been excellent, keeping us informed every step of the way and ensuring that any questions were answered promptly.

Buying a new home can be stressful, but Emma and Naila made the entire journey straightforward, smooth, and stress-free. Their commitment to providing outstanding customer service truly sets them apart and has made this a very positive experience for us.

We had such a wonderful experience with Tracey at Story Homes. She was warm, gentle and incredibly friendly, creating a relaxed atmosphere from the moment we met her. She was never intrusive, and at no point did it feel like a sales pitch.

It is clear that Tracey has complete trust in the quality of the homes she sells, and this came across naturally without any pressure. She made us feel comfortable, welcome and able to take our time. She is a real credit to Story Homes!

Just had our hand over day for our house on robinson fields, initially we dealt with amber until she went on maternity leave then have dealt with Brooke and Rachel and I must say fantastic service from all three, what little snags were spotted on home demo day by ourselves and our snagging inspector, 90% have already been rectified by story homes, also great to deal with John and Chris both very approachable and accommodating.
Upto now very happy with the house build quality and service from all the story staff we have had contact with.

We have had an excellent experience with Story Homes so far. Rebecca has been friendly, supportive and helpful, keeping us informed at each stage to date with clear explanations of the buying process. Her knowledge of the development at Riverbrook Gardens, the homes available and her professionalism and organisational skills have been second to none, and we look forward to next steps in purchasing a new Story home on this beautiful development.

She was absolutely brilliant.
Answered all our questions in detail, nothing was too much trouble.
She was very knowledgeable too.
Contrary to the sales executive we spoke to in Croft at the Bellway homes site who was not very good and couldn't really answer anything we asked.
Emma needs a promotion in my opinion.
10/10.

Both the sales executive, Tracy and Site manager, Nathan were really helpful and knowledgeable in their respective roles. I have experienced a really positive customer experience so far, having expressed an interest in one of their new releases on Tithe Meadow.

The opportunity to ask questions for the Site manager visit provided the confidence that we are buying a property that will match are needs.

We would just like to give a huge thanks to the staff at Foxbridge Rise, for their amazing customer service throughout our house buying journey! We moved into our gorgeous new home 3 weeks ago & couldn’t be happier… it’s everything we dreamed of & more. Special thanks must go to Wendy, who went above & beyond, even just ringing on one occasion to see if we were getting excited as our move was getting closer! Just such a lovely, personal touch & it meant a lot! Thanks to both Wendy & Tracey for keeping us updated every step of the way & for keeping us constantly in the loop! Bought a new home on Story Homes St. Andrews gardens site at Thursby in Cumbria. The lovely sales lady, W, was so helpful with the initial purchase. Sadly the sale of our house fell through at the last minute and we were so disappointed. Four months later we were in a position to move and W again was extremely helpful. The sale of an almost completed home had fallen through and we loved it and bought it. Very straightforward process.
We just love the house. Ok, there were a few initial snags, but they were dealt with quickly and efficiently. We were one of only two homes on the site to have an air source heat pump and we had problems with this from the day we moved in.
Story homes sent quite a few people to remedy this and finally, as it was a new system to the builder, we got a brilliant young man fixed the problem. Other slight snags appeared, but were all dealt with quickly and efficiently. The customer service is good, keeping you informed as to appointments etc.
if we ever bought another new build home, we would buy from Story as we trust them to put things right.

Just had Lee round to deal with some snagging issues. He did a superb job and I am very happy with the results. He also identified an issue with a door and fixed it, even though it wasn't on his job sheet. First rate service.

I have dealt with customer service when living in a different home builders new build. The difference with Story is 100% better.
Emails are replied to, work is checked up on and nothing seems to be a problem. Always pleasant and never forgotten about. Both the on site team and Michael in The Customer Service Team are a credit to the company.

We are delighted to be purchasing a new Hewson home through Story Homes. Sam has worked hard to ensure the buying experience soo far has met all our needs, giving great advice regarding upgrades and where we would best utilise our budget given our needs.
Sam has also advised on how best to sell our property and again has removed the large amount of stress that this process usually causes and we are both extremely grateful.
Not long now till we will be in the house and we cannot wait to enjoy our forever home. Thanks Storey’ for everything.

We just reserved our new home and the experience with Story’s was excellent. Thorough, considerate and professional. Jay took time to talk us through the process and offered us guidance and advice on a related topics such as mortgage and solicitors. Everything was made very clear and a daunting event made to seem much easier in the process.

The ladies at the Scotby site, Amanda and Zara, were so helpful and informative and provided information regarding homes for First Times buyers local to the area, I was completely unaware of ! which in turn which help a family member hopefully secure the first home. They are a credit to the company
