Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 83 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about extremely rude and dismissive staff members who displayed highly unprofessional behavior, poor communication skills, and a complete unwillingness to help passengers. Many people also experienced severe operational delays, disorganized airport service counters, and frustrating ongoing issues with lost or completely mishandled luggage items. Some reviewers were happy with individual frontline employees who provided remarkably kind, attentive, and effective assistance during particularly difficult travel situations. Certain travelers occasionally praised specific airport team members for going far above and beyond normal expectations to resolve urgent baggage problems quickly and successfully.

Consistently Unprofessional and rude staff

I recently flew with Malawi Airlines in Dar Es Salaam, operated by Swissport, and the experience was unacceptable.

• Despite having five blank pages in my passport (well above the minimum requirement of 2–4), staff delayed me for 15 minutes, questioning me unnecessarily and causing stress.
• They demanded to see my itinerary and asked about visas — acting as if they were immigration officers rather than airline staff.
• They tried to convince me my baggage was overweight, even though my ticket clearly states I am entitled to 2 x 23kg bags.

This is not the first time Swissport staff have overstepped their boundaries. Their arrogance and harassment of passengers show a lack of proper training and professionalism.

If Swissport cannot train their staff to treat passengers respectfully, they should not be operating airlines. I will avoid any airline managed by Swissport in the future if this is the standard of service.

Terminal 2 of Sofia airport operated by Swissport

My experience relates to terminal 2 of Sofia airport, where I flew in on Jun2 2, 2026. Compared to the previous year, more vendors are added on the upper floor, that is nice and encouraging.

My luggage was lost due to delayed handling by LH. I and a dozen of other passengers had to go back to the airport. We all spent hour at the back door of the luggage area in order to talk to the staff inside. The telephone on the poster outside this door lists phones of Swissport and several airlines. We are asked to use our cell phones instead of the phone mounted just under the poster. Needless to say that none of the listed phones calls were answered. I found altogether about 4-5 phone number of Swissport at this location (operator, terminal 2, Lost and Found etc) and nobody picked the phone and it was early afternoon. We looked for any information in the lobby of the airport but didn't find any. Usually the central point of the airport lobby will be Information kiosk serving passengers with all sort of information. Why cannot we see information booth at Sofia airport? Why the operators are not answering the phones?

Does not surprise me to see the other reviews. Looks like some massive improvements are needed. Waiting over 1.5 hrs to retrieve out baggage from a small airport or ridiculous and the excuses given to others who complained came back with a different excuse for the delay. Won’t not surprise me if I read in the media that this company is out of business

20 hours later no suitcase????

20 hours later and my partners suitcase missing between Belfast and Edinburgh. No sense of urgency to locate the suitcase. The bag has a bar coded label and it is unacceptable that the bag still has not been traced.
Always insufficient ground staff. No sense of urgency.

I forgot to lift my passport out the…

I forgot to lift my passport out the seat pocket on departing the aircraft at Larnaca Airport Cyprus. I immediately informed border police at the gate who contacted Swissport with flight and seat number where the passport could be found. 4 hours later the aircraft left with my passport in the seatpocket and Staff telling us nothing found. My travelling companion asked at land side office and was met by a rude and dismissive female also saying nothing found. In the end the passport was recovered by BA crew on the return flight from exactly where I told staff it was. Unfortunately too late for me and I was sent back to the UK and denied entry!
Money, time, paperwork and stress that could have been avoided if Swissport had actually acted on instructions and bothered to look for the passport. Unprofessional and seemingly untouchable.

Staff went out of their way to assist at Belfast International Airport

Staff went out of their way to assist when elderly father in law's case was misplaced in arrivals.
Jo in particular was so helpful and showed true empathy in what was a very stressful and worrying time.
Roisin from the airport assistance helpline was also very helpful and kind.
We're used to friendly service in Ireland, but these 2 ladies deserve a pat on the back.

I recently travelled with KLM and…

I recently travelled with KLM and arrived at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, where I discovered that my suitcases had been cracked during transit.

I went to the Swissport customer service desk to report the damage. Unfortunately, the customer service experience I received was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.

When I approached the desk, the lady attending customers was busy on her phone and made me wait for approximately five minutes before acknowledging me. After I explained the damage to my suitcase, she dismissed the matter by saying that the crack was “too small” and instructed me to go online and report it instead of assisting me properly.

I then requested to speak with a manager. A man came forward claiming to be a supervisor. Without properly listening to my concern, he immediately told me to remove my suitcase from the desk and asked me, “Would you put a suitcase on my office desk?” His attitude became aggressive, rude, and intimidating. He also threatened to throw me out.

When I requested his name, he pointed to his badge and said, “Take a picture, you can’t do me anything.”

This is by far the worst customer service experience I have witnessed in my life. I expect passengers to be treated with professionalism, respect, and courtesy, especially when reporting damage caused during travel.

I would appreciate a proper investigation into both the damage to my luggage and the unacceptable behavior of the staff involved.

Not really Swiss or swift

I’m not surprised that this is “not actively managed”. I suspect that that it has nothing to do with Switzerland. I’m a tour guide and am constantly having to deal with a rather relaxed attitude to absent luggage. As a service goes, more Somalia than Switzerland 🤔🤷

**Be careful in Agadir**

**Be careful, worst airport experience**

We travelled to Agadir from Dublin for a 3 night stay this week with Ryanair. On arriving, first time in Morocco, was a bit disorientated after coming through security. Immediately there's traders trying to sell mobile sim packages, and men asking if you want transport. You'll be fine if you've organised these things prior to travelling.

Now, different story when you return to the airport to come home with Ryanair.

Swissport operate the check in for Ryanair. The staff were very obnoxious. The lad dealing with is at checkin was wearing a badge around his neck saying "HANDS OFF MY CASE", which is ironic.

He proceeded to take our priority cabin bag and place it in the sizer. He said its too big and we must pay to check it. This bag fit into the sizer, it was specifically bought for travelling with Ryanair. We've used it on close to 30 Ryanair flights to different destinations with absolutely no issue.

There was no room for discussion with this guy. He warned us, if we didn't pay him the MAD 399 there and then, then we'd be charged 3 times that amount at the gate. This seemed entirely like a hustle. I tried to argue the point politely, but the guy had none of it. He was laughing and joking with his female colleagues while dealing with is and there was a Q of people behind us. So reluctantly, i decided to pay the 399 MAD.

He threw me revolut card back at me and it bounced off my chest. I said i felt like i had just been scammed and he laughed.

When i got through security the flight was delayed, so i ordered a tuna panini from Venizia. The 'panini' was a ciabatta with a tin of dry tuna emptied into it. Not toasted and not edible. It cost about €7.

I then went onto the Ryanair app and ordered food to be delivered to my seat once i was onboard.

Sitting at the gate i watched as Swissport staff dragged around the Ryanair sizer going from weary passenger to passenger. It was nearly like sizing carry on bags was their primary duty. Even after the checkin gate. Some passengers got caught, some passengers put on extra clothes from their case to make it smaller.

One Moroccan passenger flying to Dublin followed the Swissport staff with the sizer and helped the passengers with trying to make their bags fit into the sizer. He was firmly told to sit down. Apparently, they get paid a bonus for every case the checkin.

Finally on the plane after a delay, the cabin crew informed us that Agadir Airport hadn't given them any food for the flight. Just pringles. The cabin crew seemed stressed and under pressure.

On arriving back to Dublin, i collected my case to find that out had two cracks near the handle. I reported this to the Ryanair ticket desk at Dublin Airport. I also put the same bag into a sizer in front of the staff at the Ryanair ticket desk and they said the bag fit.

All of this has been reported formally to Ryanair.

Wonderful Special Assistance Team Let Down by Ryanair Desk Staff

Very disappointed with the behaviour of a female member of staff at the Ryanair customer service desk at East Midlands Airport on Sunday 5 April 2026.

My 12-year-old son has ASD, so we approached special assistance for help making sure he could sit with me during the flight. The special assistance staff were absolutely wonderful, especially Kerry, who kindly walked us over to the Ryanair desk.

Unfortunately, the experience with the Ryanair desk staff was completely different. The woman behind the desk spoke loudly and dismissively in front of other passengers, repeatedly saying the flight was full, over capacity, and that she had passengers she needed to get onto the plane. We were calm throughout and had already explained that my partner was happy to sit separately if needed.

The whole interaction made us feel like an inconvenience and caused unnecessary distress to my son, who later told me he had been shaking during the encounter. What made it worse was that, after insisting nothing could be done, she then changed the seating and seated me with my son anyway.

Kerry from special assistance apologised to us afterwards despite having nothing to do with the situation and said herself that she was shocked by the behaviour.

A little kindness and discretion would have made all the difference.

tried to snatch my phone out of my hand

I had an extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience with Swissport - AGADIR. The front desk employee clearly had no understanding of the rules or procedures and gave us completely incorrect information, which resulted in us being issued a fine. When I questioned this, he shockingly grabbed my phone out of my hand and accused me of trying to film him, despite me doing nothing of the sort. His behaviour was rude, aggressive, and totally unacceptable. The duty manager offered no support whatsoever — his only response was to “claim the fees back,” yet after attempting to do so, I have received no reply at all. The lack of accountability and basic customer service from Swissport has been appalling.

Aweful experience at Leeds airport

Aweful experience at Leeds airport. Had a priority ticket with Ryanair and only a standard Rimowa hand luggage suitcase which fitted into the baggage allowance box. (Took pictures for proof) the guy just wanted to rip off money and asked for another 75Pound from my partner and me. Other people boarded with larger suitcases and a bag and had to pay nothing. Felt discriminated and as they threatened to not board my partner and me we paid an extra 150 pound to our already booked priority tickets.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Swissport on 19 April following my Royal Air Maroc flight AT800 (13:40, seat 17B).
After landing, I realised I had accidentally left my black Apple AirPods Max in the seat pouch in front of me. Shortly after passing through passport control and arriving at baggage claim, I received a Find My iPhone alert confirming that my headphones were still on the aircraft.
I immediately contacted Swissport, who told me they would send someone to check. I called back several times and was repeatedly told they were still looking. Eventually, I received a call saying the headphones had been found. However, when I went to collect them, I was given the wrong item — not mine — and told it had been found at seat 26B, which makes no sense given I was seated in 17B.
What’s most frustrating is that I reported the issue almost immediately, while the headphones were still clearly traceable on the plane. Despite acting quickly, I was passed back and forth between Swissport and the airline, with both sides avoiding responsibility and offering no real solution.
These are very expensive headphones, and the lack of coordination, accountability, and care shown in handling this situation is unacceptable. I made every effort to recover my property promptly, yet I’ve been left without it and without any proper resolution.
Extremely poor service and very disappointing experience.

I GOT ROBBED BY THEM

Several important items got robbed from my suitcase when arriving in Morocco. I reported this situation and they ignored it. I recommend everyone reading this to immediately report any crime committed by this company to the police. Your suitcase may arrive closed but items will be missing. Their employees rob and the company refuses to take responsibility. HORRIBLE!
