I am a fully paid up subscriber to …

I am a fully paid up subscriber to Norton Anti-Virus and Internet Security with VPN. Yesterday my Norton would not load. I had to uninstall then reinstall. Today my VPN will not connect. I have spent all morning Tweeting to support who seem to think I have nothing better to do then wait for their replies. I am fed-up with being hacked, blocked and slowed on the Internet. Everyday my internet access in the U.K gets slower and slower on my computer even with all the features of Norton loaded onto it. I would at least compare Security Companies and read reviews before considering using Norton.

This companies customer support is terrible. I have never dealt with a company that lets so much fall to the waist side. I am simply trying to pay my bill and I can't get ahold of anyone. If you are looking for SSL definitely do not use this company. I highly recommend using anybody else.

Avoid automatic subscriptions at all costs!!!

Wow! Our experience was maybe 4 years ago but it still leaves bitterness inside and I will share.

We had an old laptop in which we subscribed on a monthly basis for Symantec updates to protect our device and every month Symantec automatically deducted our checking account for this fee.

We gave up the laptop because it didn't work anymore and Symantec continued to charge us for the automatic subscription even after we have made many attempts to let them know we do not have the laptop anymore. The 1-800 is BS, no one called us back or we were patched through different voice prompts that didn't take us anywhere we needed. We have emailed only to receive an auto reply that our email is undeliverable and so we finally called our bank to stop payment on the charges but even the bank couldn't help us because it's an online authorization made with our debit card...now we are furious because even is as bank owners cannot make the bank place a stop payment on this subscription and we have no means to contact the company to let them know we need to cancel the subscription. It was very disappointing and extremely furiating!! Never again do we plan to use this company. One of those lame subscription companies getting rich off of member subscriptions and forcing us to continue to pay. It's a form of stealing and after 6 months of this crap, we never got our money back for it.

So many problems caused by this AV!

i never had so many problems with an AntiVirus. We are looking into other Alternatives now (malwarebytes and webtoot - they both in stall much quicker, smaller footprint and they don't kill your resources and the best part you don't need to update 4 times a week and reboot 20 times just for it to start working correctly). the Symantec installs never go as planned. They release major updates way to often forcing us to reboot LIVE SERVERS 4-8 times just for the "update' to install and what if it doesn't update correctly? expect to spend 2-4 hours trying to remove it from the machine and reinstalling it and rebooting it another 6 times after running their "removal" tools.. Constant service is expire message for MSP's!!! Especially the CORPORATE version. you think they would test things out a lot more before pushing BROKEN updates to business's. They just released another broken update on 8/2/17 that causes workstations and servers to hang at welcome.. completely unacceptable. we have this product installed on OVER 900 machines.. so going to reimburse us for all the hours we wasted trying to fix your broken product? Symantec is sure as hell not going to. If your looking for a stess free AV product. look elsewhere. hard to give you guys a good review when there has been nothing but issues since day 1 and it seems like it is just getting worse.. I thought very Highly of you guys for the longest time. would always recommend you to everyone (specially the home versions) but I will be moving on elsewhere as I cannot take this anymore.

Absolutely terrible customer service

Absolutely terrible customer service. I will never use this company again. I have rated them negatively on Yelp and filed a BBB complaint which ended up unresolved and I am still not happy with the outcome. All I can do is voice my opinion and not use their company again. I was a life long supporter until this last issue. They lied to me, did not return my phone calls initially and strung me along until the situation could not be rectified. Thanks a lot really appreciate it Symantec!

We use these guys for SSL certificates

We use these guys for SSL certificates, since they're the 'industry standard' I paid a few thousand pounds for one earlier this year, and due to 'problems processing the payment' their end, we paid again. By the time the payments showed on our accounts, we noticed both had been successful, so 3 months ago asked for a refund. Instead they took another payment from us. This was noted weeks ago, and the apathy are getting from their customer services / billing support is pathetic. We're still down substantial money, and no sign of it being refunded in any hurry (if at all!). Their customer services is dire - it's taking many emails across symantec and phone calls before we get any response, and the responses haven't been helpful so far! In the meantime we learn Google Chrome will soon start treating them like the bad boys of SSL certs. Come back VeriSign, all is forgiven!

Worst customer support!

I never had such bad experience with any other company. Seems like their support guys are dumb! Not prompt, not efficient, not at all understanding. I'd never again go for any of their products.

I would give it a 0.5/5 rating only

Some say the features are good. Compare features of Norton antivirus with those of the best AV products and you'd understand that they are no good at all. Moreover, it's a rather heavy product and slows down your entire system. There are many malware that manage to get through Norton. Why then should anyone go for this AV product? Honestly, 0.5 out of 5 is enough and more for rating such a product.

Not impressed!

Am not at all impressed with the performance of the various Symantec products that my company had started using. As a start-up, we had chosen to go with Symantec based on the advice of our tech partners, but I must say the products are not up to the mark. Not at all good for any company that wants to flourish in business.

It`ll be 3.6 out of 5

It`ll be 3.6 out of 5. Cuz dspite of the free features and a quite decent defence system - the antivirus is a bit too heavy in terms of system resources usage(goes completely fine only on my main pc which is overpowered compared to the normal home one) and the av also fails on detecting some common threats, however I submitted those to research so I hope that`ll be fixed. Everything else is convenient and fine.

Shocking hacks of last year. Basics required

Had many problems with my pc late last year, so I made a special trip to currys pc world to invest in some antti virus.
Well i invested in Norton Premium 10 Device.
Well it was beyond belief when I picked up the software, and found a card with the product key code and no disc, you have to download it from the internet!! Eh??
What is this world coming to when companies like this are so naive about reality and fixated on profits and money, they produce a very poor quality product with little or no support. Internet and pc corrupted and now I have to go online and download??!! Have a word!!
Once installed and run on various occasions, I was no better off than I was before. The IOS software isn't worth a carrot and after all the hacks of last year, all these products and companies all failed. LOL.
Then after your hacked, you cant speak to anyone on the old blower like you used to, you need to register online??????
If you do manage to call someone you probably end up waiting for the automated message for 30mins.
Good luck with this technology I'm going back to the woods and using carrier pigeons. Windows 10 Shocking. Norton failed and now I'm off to swing from the trees by my neck.
Remember Quality = pride! When all else fails its time to go back to basics.

Symantec products fail - Service fail -Customer support fail

I contacted Symantec today about a few issues and features they have ignored for the last 10 products in all lines of Online Security software, some are quite alarming and some are 100% terrible practices and behaviors. (Ive been a customer with Symantec for last 12 years)

None of their products supports any email clients but Outlook and this would have been excusable a few years back when Microsoft had pretty much no competition for email clients, for the last 5 years *at least) not so much.
When asked Symantec reps make some bold and inaccurate claims, like Outlook is one of the safest email clients (its not and never has been) and that Outlook supports the Norton product rules. OK on that last one but still no excuse.
There are many great and safe and opensource email clients out here, Thunderbird supports encryption which makes it infinitely more secure than Outlook ever was or will be, and being opensource Symantec has only to submit the support they desire directly.

Alas they dont care about supporting any other clients otherwise it would have been done, this is alarming, because they have ignored all their users which dont use Outlook, they certainly have ignored my pleas over the years.

Also, and I wonder why they have such feature. You can add email ports to e.g. Norton Security Premium, but if you try to add any POP3 ports or IMAP ports you are denied this, saying the ports are used for something else... This is false and when asked Symantec Reps just give you some excuse, which would be OK if you dont know any better, and thus also ignore you when you try to get a proper answer.

A worrying malware like behavior though from their products is, during their product installation, they install Toolbars into all the browsers you have installed, this is great if you desire that protection but if you dont, you can only disable it, not remove toolbars.

Ive asked Symantec if they could tell me what kinds of software they know about, that installs programs features without:
A) Asking the user if they would like to install them (while being able to say no)
B) Not allowing such program features to be 100% removed once they are discovered.

At this stage the Symantec representative went silent and just not replied to the question and said nothing more at all. But the answer is spyware/adware/malware.
OK no big deal (you say) since you can disable such features, the point is, you cant remove them, period..

There are other bones I could pick with Symantec regarding their products which seems to cause a great deal more grief and dont give you the peace of mind that Symantec is all so happy to charge large amounts of cash, year after year.
Of such recent years (4), they automatically made a charge to my EXPIRED bank card (by making modifications to the card details held without notification), to renew a product I didnt want or use anymore and that they didnt even have any facility on your Norton/Symantec account to turn that recurrence OFF, it took me a month of dealing with my bank and Symatec to resolve and I was offered no real explanations why they would make automatic charges.

After 12 years and the clear message you value nothing but money, I can assure you that by the end of my subscription I will never use or recommend your products for myself or my family, whom I manage their computers and security for, and for sure none of us will have nothing good to say about your company or products any longer.

Shame on you Symantec. Shame on you!

Excellent Security Products!

I've used Norton Internet Security and Antivirus on up to 8 pc-devices at home, no problems. For the world class quality of Security and protection you get, you also get a product that Symantec has streamlined to be light on resources: low CPU usage and a very light footprint in memory. Highly recommend this company and its products.

Slows Down The PC

I recently had to switch to Norton Internet Security after my McAfee subscription had run its course and caused me a lot of headaches. Unfortunately Norton turned out to be even worse and my syystem is running horribly slow and jerky except my Alienware Dell laptop (no honey without money as usual). The customer care is no help either. I have made a mistake but hope others do not follow it. Steer clear!!
