Royal Tortoise MailWell this seems the only way you get…

Well this seems the only way you get any visual contact with this elusive, crap company. Paid a £150 for High Gloss Grey kick board under the rear seat. Which was to match the kitchen, which was superb, fitted beautifully and the service was great and friendly. Now more than a year after ordering the board at the same time, it’s still a no show!!!! Post must be by tortoise up there in Leeds, dead tortoise!!!!!

Waste of time and money

Ordered the pull down blinds early Feb…

Ordered the pull down blinds early Feb 2026, a string of excuses over several weeks for why they hadn’t sent then out, after 5 weeks passing (when delivery was supposed to be 5 days) I requested to cancel the order for a refund 10 days ago. I’ve still not received my refund, now they don’t respond to my calls or emails. I’d strongly avoid using this company

Don't spend your hard earned money here!!!!

I had a pop-top fitted here, and it was a poor job, to say the least. Making contact with them is amusing; it turns out it was my fault. The owner, Mr. Hullock, fitted it badly.

To cut a long story short, he agreed to remove the abortion he had fitted and fit a ‘Austops’ roof instead. At an additional cost of £800, the first costing just over £2200. So, just over £3k for an Austops roof, I thought.

Collection day came and went, again my fault. Eventually, I got to collect over a week later. I live 180 miles away, so train travel was my only option. The first trip was aborted because Mr. Hollock didn’t start the roof replacement. That cost me £80 on a wasted train ticket. To be fair, he did knock off the final payment.

Getting to speak to Mr. Hullock face-to-face is quite interesting. It’s all about blame with him; he takes no responsibility for his or his staff’s actions.

At the time, Mr. Hullock didn’t show me the roof operation. I thought, “No worries, YouTube will inform me!”

The roof he fitted was not what he said it was. After watching Austops videos and calling them, and sending a picture of the fitted roof. It turns out that Mr. Hullock hadn’t fitted a genuine Austops roof but some fake knock-off crap.

I kept all emails and messages, and he clearly stated that I would have a ‘genuine Austops roof at a great price.’ What I actually got was a fake roof poorly fitted by someone who, in my opinion, shouldn’t be working on these (VW T5) or any other vans. Stick to Lego, less likely to upset your customers!

I paid the final payment by credit card, which I successfully claimed back, uncontested by Mr. Hullock.

If you work hard for your money, spend it elsewhere not with this fool. Don’t be like me and ignore the poor reviews. Otherwise, like me, you will be most likely leaving a negative review after having a poor experience!

Having placed my order on the 1st of September 2025 it took a month to receive what I thought was my order only to find half of it missing. I got in touch with T4mation regarding this issue and was assured it will be sorted out which then took another month for another delivery to find out there was still pieces missing. Yet again got in touch to be assured it will be sorted out 6 weeks later my final pieces arrived, Over 3 months and every excuse under the sun to where my delivery's were.
That's without starting on the quality of what I've received and the differences to the unit that's shown on the site. Screw holes in the wrong places, unfinished edges, over head units that are to long and touch the drivers seat, splash back panel that's different to what I ordered, tambour door which is totally different to shown site pictures and damaged. Doors rattling where catches are wrong. To be honest nothing has really fitted together nicely and I'd wished I'd never heard of T4mation and really wished I'd read the reviews before placing my order. If this review just stops one person making the same mistake I have it's worth writing it.

Delay in order

PLEASE AVOID AND SAVE YOURSELF UNWANTED HASSLE AND FRUSTRATION!...Unfortunately, like others I have found myself waiting for things I ordered months ago with no explanation as to why they are delayed other than, "I will check with the warehouse". I placed my order on the 16th of June and still to this day I am being told (well infact not being told as it is now Tuesday and have not gotten a reply from my correspondence on friday!....) that I will get a date soon. Latest being.....I will get a delivery date given to me on the 5th of September. Still nothing. Looking at T4mations website I figured this would have been their bread and butter and although I appreciate things happen, a 3 month wait just seems ridiculous to me. I have over 35 email exchanges with this company since June which contain no explanation as to why my order is late or where it is. I have purposely not called as I figured a reputable company would feel they would need to call their paying customer to explain what the delay is. What I have paid for, to me is not cheap, I wanted to upgrade the interior of my T4 to enjoy with my son over the summer which clearly has since been and gone. My fear is, if they do infact turn up, of which I am doubtful (call it gut), there will be fault and I will have to go through a whole world of pain trying to rectify it. I have since emailed today (9th Sept) with no reply. The frustration goes on.
Dont be fooled by a professional looking website please do yourresearch on a company that you are buying from. The start of this review states. Please avoid, save yourself a load of frustration and go else where.

Extremely disappointed with a Poptop…

Extremely disappointed with a Poptop installation that I had been so looking forward to for a long time.

1. The roof to the rear of the van isn't carpeted just exposed rubber. The owner advised that it's an optional extra to have this done, I have never seen this "optional extra" nor had the opportunity to opt in. Who wants a part carpeted van

2. The van went in with the promise of re fitting my solar panel, this didn't happen and was only told on collection it hadn't been done. The Van had been with them a week so I'm unsure why this wasn't flaged before to allow time to discuss options, ie feet, which is apparently is the problem.

3. The clock resets on the dashboard everytime you switch off the ignition. The van went in in perfect condition, the owner now stated the van had "historic electrical problems" and refuses to make right.

4. There are no dashboard lights at all, again, the owner blames historic electrical issues but doesn't expand on this. The van had full dash lights when it went in.

5. I'm using wood as advised by the owner (he even cut a piece) to hold up the bed board as he advised he didn't have any rams left, this is damaging the carpet. Promised to post out for me to fit myself which I find unacceptable.

6. I dont seem to have a steering wheel lock anymore, didn't come back with the van. I have had to order a new one through my own expense.

7. There was work to the 5th gear modification that didn't happen, the owner stated he didn't have enough time although as above this was booked.

8. Uncovered gap to the top of the storage unit exposed into the cupboard. The owner, again, said this is an optional extra....still not seen an "optional extra" list nor ever had the conversation.

9. Metal shards left all over the van poptop dangering the kids, my Daughter cut her foot on some.

10. The van went in on Monday, planned to start work on Tuesday to collect Friday, I was advised on Thurday the work had started, to be then told on Friday morning it hadn't. This turned into a rush job that you can clearly see. The rubber seal on the poptop externally is a mess and looks like a child used the gun.

I can understand that sometimes things happen that don't go to plan, however, the above points far exceed any acceptable delivery for paid goods. A van should never exit with faults that it didn't go in with and if it did, there should be a clear plan on how to take this forward. I also expect a high level of attention to detail, this company reassure you it's in "good hands" constantly before the van goes in, the final product vastly differs from this promise.

As many others have stated, I have tried to resolve but face smug replies, lies and zero accountability for any of this.

Such a shame, the owner has a fantastic opportunity to build a great company with an excellent reputation but sadly, has the wrong attitude to take it forward.

As I have been told (but didn't listen), avoid and go somewhere that will truly give your van the attention you want.

We're genuinely sorry to hear that this customer feels disappointed with their experience, as we always aim to deliver quality workmanship and clear communication throughout the process. However, we feel it’s important to provide some context to this situation, as many of the claims in this review are misleading or omit key details.

The van was dropped off on a Monday, ahead of the agreed booking slot, and we were informed it wouldn't be collected until the following Saturday. This gave us a full work window. However, by mid-week, we were informed last minute that the van needed to be collected early due to a holiday. This significantly compressed the time available and put added pressure on the schedule.

When the van arrived, it had clear and longstanding electrical issues. The customer specifically asked us to check the battery, which turned out to be completely flat, couldn't be jump-started, and was dangerously secured with rope rather than a proper clamp. The wiring around it was non-factory and hazardous, resembling a tangled spider’s nest. We had to charge the battery overnight, which caused an unavoidable delay to the start of the installation.

Despite this, we proceeded with the pop-top installation to our usual high standards and on a tight schedule, as requested by the customer. During the process, we encountered ongoing electrical faults, including a faulty ignition and issues with grounding that caused dim lights and fuse blowouts. When we raised these issues, the customer repeatedly stated, “It’s always been like that.”

Out of goodwill and concern for safety, we addressed several of these issues free of charge, including fitting a new split charge relay to help with battery charging while driving — again, at no extra cost.

As for the solar panel, it was provided by the customer but was unsuitable for reinstallation due to a lack of appropriate mounting hardware (such as feet). This should have been discussed further, but given the compressed timeline and sudden change in collection date, there was simply no window to explore alternatives.

Some of the points raised — such as the gap between the storage unit and bed board, or the non-carpeted rear section — relate to optional extras which were not selected. The customer was given a detailed quote and breakdown of options at the start. In fact, the customer’s own words at that time were, “I just want the cheapest really,” which we respected, but it’s unfair to later expect premium upgrades to be included.

Regarding the missing steering wheel lock: we do not remove, store, or repurpose steering locks. We have no reason to retain a £20 lock, and we would always return any such item if found.

The 5th gear modification was not carried out simply because the parts were on back order. This was communicated and the job can be easily rebooked when the parts arrive — it’s not a quality issue, just availability.

Lastly, we take safety very seriously, and we always clean thoroughly after installation. If any debris remained, we sincerely apologise. That said, Anything left would have been insignificant to cause injury.

We’re proud of our work and have many 100's satisfied customers as you would expect from a company trading over 10 years. However, we also acknowledge that van conversions involve complex systems, and delays or unforeseen issues can sometimes occur — especially when working with vans that arrive with pre-existing faults and last-minute changes to schedules.

We regret that this experience didn’t meet the customer’s expectations, but we stand by the work completed and the professionalism of our team. As always, we remain open to resolving any outstanding issues in a reasonable and respectful way.

Fantastic buying experience!

Went to t4mation for advise on buying new headlights for my T4. The guys were super helpful - in fact they went out of their way to make sure I received the correct product. I would highly recommend this company and won’t hesitate to buy from them again. Thank you so much.

Very happy customers

We chose T4mation after searching around for camper van conversions, we stumbled across T4mation and decided to get in touch, mainly due to close proximity from home.

Stephen was very polite and professional from the get go… inviting us to come take a look around his show room and work shop, which we did!

Stephen took time out of his busy schedule to answer all our questions, listening to needs and expectations, Promptly responding to our emails the whole time! We really felt valued, this was all way before we signed on the dotted line!

It was clear to us that Stephen is very passionate and proud of his craft! It’s refreshing to see in a world focused on quantity over quality!

His work and ideas are excellent, really put our minds at ease given we are new comers to the camper van scene!

With help from Stephen we choose our kitchen finish for our T6 LWB and Stephen got to work right away…

This was no straight forward install as the kitchen units had to be slightly modified to fit the lower soffits due to the bespoke lower profile pop-top!

Stephen also got us up and running with a leisure system and provisions ready to build upon!

Stephen worked his arse off on our project and we are very impressed with the service he provided, highly recommended! He even met us with a little gift on collection of our van, super grateful!

We will 100% use T4mation for all our van additions in the future and can’t wait to develop our beloved camper ‘Van-essa’

Do not go with them

Do not go with them, said delivery was a week took a month, for 1 parcel then week later for rest of kichen, first parcel had damaged which I let them know about straight away next parcel pieces missing which I told them straight away, still waiting for items over 2 half months, Steve just lies about everything

If I could give negative stars to this…

If I could give negative stars to this despicable lot I would.
These CNC cut units cost some £1350 and did not fit Our 2020 T6.1, as hoped. Either end of the large storage units were not cut correctly in our opinion, but they only wanted to blame us, with their one size fits all statement.
When we put it together it appeared to be 60 mm short, we rang them and asked for advise, they said to remove some wood at the top notch, to fit around the underside of the rear door frames, this did not work. Then during todays email chat, they said if we had not done this it would have fitted perfectly!
Then they said to cut the bottom, which would have been a total disaster in my opinion, what they do is to baffle you in the full knowledge it can not be returned once cut. They are simply not interested!
They do not include instructions, the videos only show assembly, they take zero responsibility for their product, no mention of having to trim to fit and absolutely no mention on the website that it will not fit a raised floor, they only care about taking the money and apportioning blame on the customer, yet again they use our inexperience against us.
Then they suggest 3 little cuts to make it fit, yet again no mention of this before, during or after purchase.
Without question this company is smug, patronising and the after sales service, is just them writing word salads. I would not recommend them if you put a gun against my head, I suggest you give them a wide berth. Everything I have stated here is in writing from them...

I followed up another communication with him asking him to make a refund or provide information regarding his claims that the item had already been sent but then mysteriously went missing. Of course he wasn’t able to provide this as it wasn’t true. I also stated that as a result of his failure to provide me with evidence of the dispatch POD and a photo of the ‘safe place’, I would have no alternative but to ensure that my consumer rights were adhered to. One of these avenues was to report him to Trading Standards. Which I did. His response was quote “Oh no please my world will end”. Very professional. He has finally agreed to issue a refund by has informed me that this will take between 3-10 days depending on how I paid, which of course he already knows because he’s already had the money. Furthermore, he states “ you got a refund as requested” but of course I haven’t yet. Perhaps I may or perhaps I won’t, it’s a guessing game with this man. I have updated Trading Standards on his response but they have informed me that they will still be making further enquiries.

If you’re expecting your delivery on time based on THEIR own website, don’t bother!
I’m still waiting for an order I placed with them in August! When I placed the order it stated I would receive the item within 5 days!! I still have not received it. I finally received an email from them informing me that the item would be delivered by the end of last week latest. The delay was due to a new system they have installed ( yeah right) and they even stated that as I had waited so long they would include a free item! Absolute joke, still nothing. I’ve emailed, messaged and now having to resort to a bad review.
Really, don’t bother ordering anything from them.

Following the receipt of the below response/information from T4mation, provided by them is an absolute joke. I would like them to provide a photo of the so called ‘safe place’ along with the details of the courier. I’d also note that as I don’t have neighbours and or a green bin, the item must have floated off in the ether of the atmosphere. Furthermore, whilst the tone of the response from them comes across as rather cavalier and jokey, for me the matter is not. I’m financially down as a result of the order not being received, so I most definitely don’t consider it as a joke!

As for your custom cup holder, it’s designed just for you, so we want to make sure it’s perfect. Unfortunately, we hit a bit of a snag with a new delivery system we’re working with. It’s supposed to keep everyone updated like clockwork, but right now, it’s having some “teething issues” (growing pains, right?). We’re really sorry for that!

We also see how the app situation may have caused some confusion. According to our records, your package was delivered about two weeks ago to a “safe place.” Fingers crossed it’s with a lovely neighbor and not… um… the green bin!

Be warned

Be warned, Absolutely shocking customer service.

Ordered item and was next told it was 2 weeks wait till I called to chase my order.
Two weeks came, No item came or a phone call or email from the company regarding my order. I had to call and chase them to which I got told it would be with me next week.
Called again the following week with no item still received or any emails or apologies for a delays, So I've called again and been told it will be two more weeks which make it's now 6 weeks since item has ordered.
No item is arrived or any contact from the company stating any delays, Instead I've had a contact the company to cancel my order which they rejected to cancel over the phone due to them not having any paper to hand.

Terrible company

Ordered a new Bosch starter, they sent a cheap remanufactured item. Communication initially was awful, delivery late, and sold a cheap item as a new quality item. Company not interested
