I am an older person and had difficulty using the portal and opening pdf files, so had to print all the documents off. The Preesha and Jacob treated me with politeness and patience. Overall it wasnt a bad experience but in hindsight I would have prefered a local solicitor so I could take paperwork in and not rely on emails. I know how difficult it is waiting to get information back from everyone involved so have made allowances for the 5 months it took to complete the purchase despite having no mortgage, moving to an empty property and having a first time buyer.

Samantha, Melissa and team were so attentive to my needs. As an elderly person I find technology can be so overwhelming but they showed me so much patience and understanding. They are a credit to Talbots.
Thank you all so very much for your help, assistance and guidance during a difficult time.

Our experience with Talbots Law during our property purchase was extremely disappointing.
From the outset, our file seemed to be passed between multiple members of staff. Every time there was a change, we had to explain matters all over again, which caused unnecessary delays, poor communication and a great deal of frustration. There appeared to be very little continuity or ownership of our case.
The most concerning aspect was the handling of the financial side of the transaction. We encountered several errors with figures and calculations during the purchase, and despite the matter having completed, we were contacted over three months later requesting additional payment due to errors in their accounting. As a client, you expect the financial aspects of a property purchase to be accurate before completion, not revisited months afterwards because of mistakes made internally.
Buying a home is stressful enough without having to deal with changing case handlers, inconsistent communication and concerns over financial calculations. The experience left us with very little confidence in the service we received.
Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Talbots Law and would not use them again.

I had an outstanding experience throughout the entire house purchase process. From the very beginning, Emma Taylor and Katie Downes were professional, knowledgeable, responsive, and incredibly supportive. Every step was explained clearly in simple terms, and they kept me informed throughout, making what could have been a stressful experience feel smooth and manageable.
Their attention to detail, prompt communication, and commitment to ensuring everything was completed on time gave me real confidence. I truly appreciated their patience in answering my questions and their dedication to achieving the best outcome.
Thank you for making my journey to becoming a homeowner such a positive experience.

Deciding to purchase our first home was already stressful enough. I had no idea on the amount of admin that goes on behind the scenes. However, the staff at Talbots Law (Abigail Compson, Jakki Johnson,
Lauren Davis and Emily Sadler) made the process so simple for us. They reviewed everything thoroughly and they were always quick to respond to our questions and provided answers that were simple to understand.

Talbots Law was referred to me during the purchase of a new Redrow home. They have a relationship with Redrow & I found the service to be expedient. Ethan at Talbots Law was efficient & kept me updated throughout the transaction.

As a first-time seller, I was completely new to the house buying process and naturally had a lot of questions. A huge thank you to the team—specifically Yvonne Masters and Zara Campbell—who went above and beyond to support me.They answered all of my questions promptly and without any hesitation, which gave me immense peace of mind. The entire team was incredibly quick, professional, and efficient, ensuring the whole transaction ran smoothly from start to finish without any delays. I really appreciated their expert guidance and would highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a stress-free sale!

They want £250 to do an hours sales pitch for probate to me.
Their phone message reminds me of Saul Goodman.
How about you spend 5 mins talking to me, then I can decide if I want your services, rather than sunk costing me into your web?
>"We would like to clarify that our paid consultations are comprehensive, tailored advice sessions with a qualified legal specialist, rather than a sales presentation. During this time, a solicitor reviews your specific circumstances, explains the probate process, assesses any potential complexities, and provides actionable guidance—regardless of whether you choose to instruct us to handle the full administration."
I've done probate before. I don't need any of that faff. I just need to know if you are competent.
The fact you can't return phone me back when I pop in and ask for a call back tells me everything.
You appear incompetent, and I can do better.

I have recently completed a Right to Buy purchase through Talbots Law and, unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing.
Throughout the transaction I experienced repeated delays, poor communication and a lack of proactive case management. Calls and emails regularly went unanswered, updates were rarely provided unless chased, and I was repeatedly promised call backs that never happened.
The most frustrating aspect was that many of the delays appear to have been avoidable. Following a formal complaint to Stoke-on-Trent City Council, the council provided a detailed chronology of the transaction which highlighted multiple instances where Talbots failed to respond promptly, submitted an incorrect and unsigned TP1, provided incorrect information regarding funding arrangements, and repeatedly failed to satisfy the council's clearly stated legal requirements.
The council's formal response concluded that they had acted promptly throughout and that delays were attributable to Talbots' handling of the matter.
As a result of these delays, my mortgage offer reached expiry, leaving me facing additional borrowing costs and financial loss. The process became unnecessarily stressful and required significant effort on my part simply to obtain updates.
To add to the frustration, the final bill exceeded the original quotation by over £400 for additional Legal Fees due to the delays. The response I get when I questioned it was, if you don't pay, we will not be able to complete.
The purchase has now completed, but only after months of avoidable stress, chasing, and uncertainty.
I appreciate that conveyancing transactions can be complex, but communication, accuracy and responsiveness are basic expectations when paying for a professional legal service. Unfortunately, based on my experience, Talbots fell well below those expectations.
A complaint was raised straight after completion 15/06/2026 and a month later, I'm still awaiting a response!
Would I use Talbots again? ABSOLUTELY NOT
**UPDATE 10th August**
Email sent asking for paperwork as they’ve not sent me ANY, post completion. And they’ve acknowledged that they will NOT get a response to me today which is the 8 week deadline.
absolutely horrendous company.

In all honesty, this would’ve probably been less stars, however, towards the end of our proceedings with Talbots Jaspal Bhogal began to handle our house sale and purchase and I cannot praise and thank her enough; extremely professional, polite, and informative, everything you’d want and expect from the professional handling such a stressful transition for you. Thank you, Jaspal!

What can I say? I've used Talbot Law for several property purchases, as well as some personal matters, and they have always been incredibly helpful. They respond quickly to any questions I have and keep me informed throughout the process.
On this occasion, I'd especially like to thank Rachel for getting my property purchase completed so quickly and efficiently. She was always pushing for completion, chasing emails, and keeping communication flowing with the seller. Rachel was professional, polite, and always happy to answer any questions I had.
I can't thank her enough for all her hard work. I would highly recommend Talbot Law to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient solicitor.
Thank you!

Do not recommend this company at all!
They accepted our case on the 9th of February and our mortgage offer is due to expire on the 28th of July. We are told this week they are not progressing with our case until they have a new mortgage extension / offer! These people have made excuse after excuse blaming the seller’s solicitor for delayed replies and outstanding enquiries.
We’re talking about people’s homes and living situations being affected by their lack of care. They’re not professional at all and have no care regarding the customers.
We have had to call and chase them the whole time they’ve had our case not a single phone call to us has been made from their side.
We tried to stay positive and understand we’re not their only case and accepted buying a home can take it’s time however with our property being chain free we shall not be in this position and the only reason we are is down t their negligence. They WILL be the reason our sale falls through!
Would never use again or recommend to anyone.

I am quite honestly gobsmacked at the positive reviews on here, I have had nothing but delays and poor communications. I have had one formal complaint with them that was settled out of their own complaints timelines, and I am very close to putting in another with a view to take the case to the ombudsman.
I am 13.5 months from offer on my house, with a NO CHAIN sale. Maybe I got unlucky, but I have dealt with now 3 solicitors, several paralegals and one senior team member, I am yet to have anything positive to say. Emails get ignored, paperwork gets lost, delays are long, would not recommend this company unless you are happy to have poor service.
I just wish I had paid the higher price for my selling agents fees and chose my own solicitor.
Edited to add a reply to their response, my full name is my username so not sure why you are unable to recognise me from that!
