Harrassing & threatening scam emails

Been harrassing me with threatening emails to pay an outstanding balance from old energy supplier (Utility Point) from a property we haven't lived in for 2.5 years! Horrid & threatening email demanding quick payment else will be forced to take me to court. Have not replied to my emails about it asking for more info. Beware as now believe it to be a scam.

Unresolved outstanding energy bill

Our energy company went into liquidation in September 2021. This company (thebsbco) has been harassing me for months on their behalf. I've tried contacting them, no one returns calls, I've sent numerous emails and they only get replied to a month later. I'm seriously beginning to think that this might be a scam. Today I contacted them telephonically and asked for a specific extension and when I got through it was to another customer who had been notified by them that there was an outstanding amount on her energy bill. To be honest, they're pretty useless.

Beware

Keep calling and emailing me for a debt that was settled upon moving from utility point to another provider. They are not listed as the administrators on companies House anyway so until I receive a recorded delivery letter by post, I'm not going to spend money or time contacting them to keep telling them that there was no debt in the first place.

Scam artists

Scam artists, fraudsters and bullies. Claim a debt that can't possibly exist - indeed I actually have evidence I was over charged and yet they continue to harass. Ignore them... Or have some fun complaining to Ofgem, the FCA, Trading Standards etc and submitting subject access requests to waste a bit of their time in return.

Parasites

Parasites that buy debts for pennies then make threats of doorstep collections. Yes please come round. With diesel at 10 pounds a gallon its your money your wasting. As we all know you have no powers or rights to gain access to anyones house. Oh and the reception is absolutely delighful. Not! Having said that it takes a special person with no morals to work for a company as vile as this.

Unprofessional firm harassing me for a…

Unprofessional firm harassing me for a so called final Utility bill debit form a bust firm from more then 18months ago. They don’t respond to emails or provide evidence. I have evidence that the bust firm actually owe me but they don’t respond. Sit tight and don’t be flustered, they rely on people being bullied into submission.

Incorrect details

They’re harassing me something crazy for an energy bill more than 18 months old that isn’t accurate, so here’s what Ofgem states:

What are the back-billing rules?

You can’t be charged for gas or electricity used more than 12 months ago if you have not been correctly billed for it, or informed about it via a statement of account, before. This includes situations where a supplier increases your Direct Debit because it was set too low. Suppliers cannot use this to recover any shortfall for a period longer than 12 months ago.
Suppliers must make these terms clear in their contract terms and conditions.
The rules apply to household and small business energy customers.

They may not apply if you have behaved obstructively or unreasonably, preventing accurate billing. This could include:

blocking meter readings at your property on more than one occasion
stealing gas or electricity.

IN SHORT they’re unprofessional and misinformed, don’t pay up. Also for a bonus sting request all correspondence via recorded postal delivery that they have to spend their own money trying to grab yours.

Threatening Cons

I have received 2 payment demands from these awful con merchants on behalf of a fuel company. Complete rubbish as they provide no evidence of what they claim. Although I am quite robust, these mother **Ckers have rattled my security a bit. Unbelievable they keep getting away with harassing people.

Horrible company.

Contacted me about a debt that was resolved over a year ago. Kept changing the number drastically. Will keep perusing you till you make a complaint. Needed to contact 4 people, all of which ghosted me after I sent my evidence, and each new person requiring me to send my evidence yet again. If they contact you make a complaint was the only way to get them to acknowledge my evidence finally!!

harassing me on behalf of igloo energy…

harassing me on behalf of igloo energy who went bust and claim i owe them money but insist on provided only an estimated bill so obviously im not happy with paying over the odds only to never be able to claim back the extra due to the fact the company that they are harassing me on behalf of no longer exist

will they provide me with an actual bill after months of me requesting one? of course not

the bill is also riddled with errors, billed multiple times for the same period etc so not only is it also over estimated but also manipulated to be higher even without that fact

are they capable of handling my complaint? of course not

they are a bunch of amateurs, they wont even write me a letter they just keep emailing an old out of date email address i used to use

half the emails i send they completely ignore and then they try and intimidate me sending threatening emails saying if i dont pay in full within 72 hours they will take legal action blah blah blah will cost more blah blah blah

well thats fine, ill take a day out to show a court the pages upon pages of emails i sent asking for accurate bills, or the pages and pages of emails i sent that they couldnt even be bothered to respond to

thats even if they even get their foot through the door of a court for trying to enforce an estimated bill

remember guys, if a bill is only an estimation then you do not have to pay it

also remember, if someone is trying to charge you for energy usage that is over 12 months ago, this is against the law

you know what the most laughable thing is? its not even a large amount of money, its purely the principal of these incompetent morons trying to intimidate and threaten me over a guessed amount of money - i have advised them that i absolutely will not be paying anything towards an estimated bill unless its the estimations i previously provided myself

advised i am happy to make a payment plan if we can agree on the amount they claim i owe, but there is no movement from them, they just want to wade in double footed and act like some kind of email bully and frankly, its pathetic and i dont have to put up with that so if they dont want to play ball, neither do i

edit: what a surprise, after months and months of attempting to communicate with these people and them completely ignoring me and sending absurd and threatening demands, they have finally conceeded that i was right all along, that they cannot bill me for energy over 12 months ago based on estimations only and that i do not owe them a penny. obviously i knew all of that all along but it took them MONTHS to realise it and they are supposed to be the experts! fools

Terrible debt Company-

Terrible debt Company - was hired on behalf of IWG regus offices - Chasing an incorrect balance going back to 2018 - When i finally got the actual balance from REGUS, I paid this immediately... but these clowns at BSB can add simple figures and continue to hound me like a bunch of savaged wolves...

They threaten to summon you and take you to court - they have no legal stance to do this...

their bark is worse than their bite....

This company should be struck of with their terrible practices...

BSB FORTIS DEBT RECOVERY

This Company has just sent an email stating that I owe £11 for outstanding debt to BES Utilities.
I don't owe this amount which is from over 18 months ago....this amount was a discount applied to my account for hassle & inconvenience by BES who I never signed up for in the first place I might add but was the provider for previous tenant.
I had all the hassle back then of sorting this out with BES and I have all emails to prove account was paid up and closed before I was allowed to move to my own provider in December 2019 and I have not heard to the contrary from BES in that time !!!!!
So why are this BSB Company allowed to trawl through such old records and wrongly assume, then threaten you for money you don't owe....I realise everyone has had a tough 15 months but really, scrabbling around old records to find such a paltry amount that they think someone MIGHT owe is lowest of low.
I do not owe this amount and I suggest they check their facts first before writing to people.

- Do not agree to a partial payment for a debt that isn't valid, this is acknowledgement of the debt

After two years of emails with no response from them, and a week of lying, the worst customer service I've ever encountered, and partial responses, my account has been closed.

Harassment and bad faith

BSB Barratt Smith & Brown harassed me for more than 1 year to pay an absurd amount of money that I did not owe. I sent them 6 detailed emails and several documents that proved that the amount they were asking for was way too high (I owed less than a fourth of it). They simply ignored all of those emails and evidence. Their honesty and methods are questionable, to say the least. No matter how much evidence you can produce of their unlawful attitude, they seem to be very confident in their bad faith, disregarding clear facts, and carrying on with their ridiculous threats such as "we'll take you to court", "your goods will be confiscated". Their attitude generated a lot of unnecessary stress and a huge waste of both mine and their time. No surprise at all that they have so many 1 star reviews on Google. Good luck to those planning on hiring BSB Barratt Smith & Brown's services. And if they are pressuring you to pay what you don't owe, don't get intimidated, don't let yourself be overcharged unfairly, don't give in to their baseness. It took me a year, but they finally accepted to rectify the indecent sum they were initially asking (i.e. 4 times what I really owed).
