Too often children are schooled in an environment that works against them. Instead of the child being at the centre of their education, they have to fit into what is best for the school or the group. The Home School Academy endeavours to change this, children learn in classes of no more than 8 students, and the teacher has ample time to devote 1 to 1 attention to the child. Timetables are designed around the child, which means that we work closely with the child and parents to ensure that their learning experience is rewarding and nurturing, appropriate to their needs. The child is encouraged to take an active role, deepening their interest and developing their ideas so that success is built upon success

Our son has had a fractured education…
Our son has had a fractured education so far this has been through no fault of his own but through the wrong setting and mismanagement of his anxiety issues. He has always presented with a high degree of social anxiety which has strongly impacted on his learning. So choosing wisely for our sons next setting was of paramount importance as further adversity within a school based environment would lead to reinforcement of his internalisation of failure and poor self esteem. After speaking with Peter ( many times) we took a leap of faith and our son started with the home school academy. We had a few teething problems at first but as our sons anxiety lessened and with a close united front from the tutors and Peter these hiccups were swiftly addressed. Our sons confidence attendance and desire to learn was soon restored.I attribute this to the exemplary teaching and commitment of the tutors the time they have spent to understand what makes him tick and have given him a voice and with that courage to explore new things. The staff are intelligent intuitive thoughtful and fully committed. It has been a happy warm and supportive environment which has enabled him to achieve high grades and so much more.I would recommend the homeschool academy whole heartedly .
My son is a student
My son has been a student with the Academy since Easter 2020. He has SEN and has not been to mainstream school for several years and specialist schools also did not help. Although he is currently year 11 and due to take exams in the Summer he has already been awarded GCSE grades a year early and also sat GCSE exams in November 2020. Much of this was thanks to the Academy. Due to my son’s difficulties, it was a slow start with initially a few lessons a week but he joined the Academy full time at the beginning of the September term and we haven’t looked back. Once we found the tutors that worked best with my Son (thank you so much to Peter for taking on board our requirements and working with us to get the best fit with the tutors) he has been like a different person. He is happy and keen for schooling, he is more engaged and discusses his day and what he has learned, his tutors give us regular feedback and send prompts for homework! The selection of subjects he has access to is amazing and the network of support we are building is also truly fantastic. If mainstream schooling is not working for your children, for whatever reason, I would have no hesitation in recommending a trial with The Home School Academy. I can honestly say my son is happy and I feel we are giving him the best opportunity we can and we have worked together with the Academy to get to this place.
