ThePackengers were terrible for shipping and logistics

My story in brief:
1. I hired ThePackengers to pick up, pack, and ship from Europe to the US an original glass sculpture that I had won at auction. I gave clear instructions to ThePackengers as to exactly how they should describe the item for customs, a description entirely consistent with the auction invoice and listing that I had also provided them.
2. ThePackengers confirmed by email that they would follow those instructions.
3. They then FAILED to mark the shipment as requested, resulting in a customs charge of $103, which I had to pay out of pocket to get the item released.
4. They have refused to reimburse me for their mistake.

Here are the details:

I had provided to them the auction invoice (pic 1), as well as the original auction listing, both of which made clear that this was an original, artist signed, handmade glass sculpture, not part of an edition of dozens or more, or any sort of mass-produced piece. Original artwork, including sculptures, is not subject to US tariff or customs duty. The auction invoice, as well as the item pictures from the listing, indicated that the piece was hand signed by the artist, consistent with the request I made that they mark the package as “Original handmade art glass sculpture, origin Italy”.

They then (pic 2) confirmed that they had “taken good note of [my] instructions”. Nonetheless, they actually marked the package as “glass sculpture” (pic 3) rather than as “Original handmade art glass sculpture” as I had requested. As a direct result, I had to pay a $103 customs charge in order for the package to be released to me.

Before I produced the waybill for them, they had the gall to claim (pic 4) that they had actually followed my instructions, and that it was US Customs that had changed the categorization from “original handmade art glass sculpture” (which is tariff/duty-free) to “glass sculpture”. Well, the waybill (pic 3) shows that to be a bald-faced lie, it was the ThePackengers who marked it as “glass sculpture”. Yet they refuse to reimburse me for their mistake.

My order number was 11225367. TrustPilot doesn't allow uploads of pictures, so if you wish so see the proof mentioned above, just google 'ThePackengers ripoffreport'.

During such checks, customs authorities may adjust the HS code based on the information shown on the invoice and their own customs classification.

We apologize for this situation, which is beyond our control. In addition, during inspections carried out by express carriers, the HS code may also be modified to match the official customs classification.

Perfectly Packed Antique Clock Arrived Safely in Australia

I entrusted The Packengers with a fragile antique clock travelling from Belgium to Australia, and the experience was flawless. Kamelya packed the clock with real expertise. The movement was secured, the case wrapped in tissue paper and bubble wrap, then boxed and double‑boxed with foam between the inner and outer boxes. The attention to detail and the neatness of the packing were remarkable.

The clock arrived in Australia in pristine condition, exactly as it left Europe. Even the large glass panel survived the journey without a single issue. For anyone shipping valuable or delicate antiques, The Packengers are outstanding. Their packing quality is unmatched.

Drouot page should include a clear…

Drouot page should include a clear disclaimer stating that you are unable to ship certain types of items (i.e. portrait miniatures with ivory) outside the EU. Instead, you were able to approve a shipping quote and subsequently accepted a shipping order. I find this way of proceeding unprofessional.

They picked up my painting which I…

They picked up my painting which I purchsed for $8200. more than three weeks ago and now they have gone silent. I will never use them again. They are utterly unreliable and fail to communicate or do what they promise. I would say that the company is a joke but there is nothing funny about it. It is time to take legal action.

Top-tier service and quality for artwork won at auction.

I am extremely satisfied with ThePackengers, who responded very promptly to my inquiries for a quote, and who managed my package completely, from scheduling a pickup from the auction-house depot, to retrieving and carefully packing the artwork, to delivering the packaged artwork to a delivery courier. The whole process was free from worry or uncertainty. They provided several updates to me throughout the process. My artwork had a glass pane over the painting, and Marina packed it very thoughtfully. It arrived in perfect condition. The service and quality are top-notch, and I will use them again.

Excellent service from this company

Excellent service from this company. They'll collect, pack the item and arrange for delivery, including international delivery, with no fuss. Payment was easy and they kept me up to date with the delivery status. I took a chance on buying this item from abroad and didn't really know what sort of service I could expect or what it would cost me but Packengers are the people to use.
