Alex made a really difficult time so much more bearable and manageable. Alex took lots of time to talk to me about options, provided invaluable advice and support in the planning of the funeral, facilitated visits to different crematoria to help me decide which one to choose, regularly checked in with me, accommodated all my requests, took care of the minutest detail to make sure everything was in accordance with my wishes, etc. I couldn't have asked for more. What really impressed me was Alex's careful handling of paperwork and choice of words - from talking about taking my husband into his care, to always referring to my husband by his name (never as "the coffin" or "the deceased" or "the body"), etc. He also thought of things that I'd never have thought of, like giving me a lock of my husband's hair or a print of his ring finger. And he even told me about things to consider when it comes to scattering my husband's ashes. Alex is considerate, caring, kind, compassionate, articulate, generous with his time, and extremely experienced in and proud of what he is doing. Highly recommend.

You treated our children with respect and included them in every aspect - all their questions were answered and you communicated directly with them too, making them feel fully included.

You guided us through every detail and went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly both for the cremation service and the thanksgiving service a few weeks later. Everyone attending both services has had nothing but praise for how they were run and all the personal touches included, which you incorporated seamlessly. Alex was fantastic. He was not only extremely kind and sensitive but he was also very professional. He responded to our changing circumstances and went above and beyond to provide us with everything we needed. He came out to our house within a hour or two of us contacting him and kept in regular touch with us throughout a long 7 week wait between my Dad dying and the funeral. He arranged everything and nothing was too much trouble. Alex has worked for a North East funeral provider for years and now runs his own company so you get the benefit of years of experience and contacts along with the personal individual touch. A truly bespoke service.

I am especially thankful for the care Alex took of me and the rest of the family over the weeks between my husband's death and his funeral. Without Alex's expertise things would have been much more difficult and stressful. Throughout the process Alex was supportive, wise, patient and extremely helpful. All of the organisation of my wife’s funeral by Mr Thornhill was carried out in a quiet and highly efficient manner with any questions/queries being anticipated and fully addressed in exemplary fashion. It is always difficult to describe such a heartbreaking, painful experience such as organising a funeral for a deeply loved one as 'positive'. However, I can honestly say Alex lightened the huge weight I was carrying, from my initial enquiry right through to personally returning my Dads ashes and wedding ring. I knew from first speaking to Alex he was the right person to take care of my Dad who was looked after with patience compassion and huge respect. As a grieving family, Alex invested time in both myself and my Mum, both on the phone and visiting the house to guide us through the unknown and to make sure everyone's wishes, especially my Dad's, were met. Nothing felt too much trouble to ask or to clarify and we were kept informed at all times.
