I was sceptical of ordering a door online and doing a d.i.y. Install…. But I can honestly say from my first phone call to designing the door using the easy online door configurator it was and absolute breeze.
The representative “Nick” was brilliant, taking me through all the options of my design and ensuring I fully understood each choice and its implications.
Delivery was on date & time and delivery driver insisted on placing the door inside my property to ensure no damage occurred.
Instructions are supplied on how to install and providing you take as much time as is needed to ensure the door is plumb & square in the opening BEFORE fixing to the substrate it will be easy and no need then to mess about with post install adjustments.
Quality of the door finish and locking mechanism is superb.
I throughly recommend Timber Composite Doors
( Solidor) based on my experience from start to finish.

Really pleased with the Solidor supplied by timber composite doors. Really easy process from start to finish, website was great and easy to navigate. Door arrived really promptly and was kept informed through the whole process. Delivery was super easy too. Easy to fit and sizes as expected. Great price - really competitive, will be back in the future when we need to change more doors

Go0d response to all our enquiries. Quick and efficient service. Good price too. The only let down was on some of the final finishing, caulking etc but considering the fit was to an old building they probably couldn't have done much better.
Overall very happy

Great company. Installation was done by a third party (Martindales) which initially worried me, but they did a fantastic job. The door looks fantastic and represents good value. I upgraded the letterplate and changed the threshold size post survey, which was no problem at all. Staff in the office are friendly and helpful. No pushy sales tactics unlike some of their competitors (Value Doors) who I can't get off the phone.

IF you live locally to Timber Composite Doors (TCB) so you are able to go in and speak to them face to face, I imagine you just maybe able get a half decent service; their main issue throughout has been their very poor communication.
There were issues with the designs of both doors; we were told that the design of stable door we had selected would not fit (after the survey) so they gave us a range to pick from. We did as suggested, and then were told twice, that these ones were also not available due to size restrictions. When we did finally select a door that would fit, their design came back with different colour glass, complete with lead work – neither of which we had selected. The final design for the other door came through with an electronic type lock – which we had at no time even looked at.
There were emails from several different people within TCB, and at times, it would seem as though they do not speak to each other, or look at the same mailbox as details had to be repeated on several occasions. One of the emails even came through with the details of a different company that they also represent, which was a little disconcerting.
When the doors were installed, there were a couple of snags (the surround of one door needed to be sorted, and a sticking lock on the other) that would need a second visit; this was understandable as these things happen. However, what I didn’t expect to happen is when TCB took the remaining 50% of the balance without even checking the jobs had been completed – and to the customers satisfaction – especially as the fitters has logged the works that still remained to be completed.
Before TCB would actually agree that a tradesperson needed to visit again, there was a disagreement about the ‘making good’ to the damage around the first door. Apparently, the TCB policy states they will not repair ‘inevitable damage’; when I read the T&C’s they sent me, this was very subjective.
On the 2 occasions that the sub-contractors needed to come back, they didn’t seem to have been told much about why they were here. On the first occasion, he thought he was here to replace the lock (which was correct), but knew absolutely nothing about the ‘making good’ around the other door. On the second occasion, they believed they had to take out and refit the whole door, when actually they were here to fill gaps at the bottom of the frame.
As I said to TCB, a lot of these issues, individually, would not be the end of the world, but the cumulative effect seems to display very poor customer services. Because if all of these issues, I would not recommend TCB to others.

As a regular specifier of doors and windows I found the ordering process to be easy and straightforward. Responsive assistance from staff and faultless delivery and receipt of the door-set. All very much appreciated.

I paid for their services 2 times. Around a year apart from each other.
The first time the guy came for the survey and measured my door. At the end of it he told me I should double check with the Council (freeholder) just to confirm I didn't need a Fire Door so I don't end up wasting money.
I then decided to end the process (£60 for the survey, fair enough).
The following year, after chasing the Council in vain for a year. I decided to just go ahead and start the process again and get the door anyway.
Although, they had all my details from less than 1 year before they told me I needed to do the survey again. The same guy came and did the survey (£60). Next day I was told that they wouldn't proceed with my order because they would need a confirmation in writing from the Council (even though I'm the leaseholder and it's my door).
So basically I have been robbed of £60.
