Called at Timberland on an off chance.

Called at Timberland on an off chance.
Although the Sales team were helpful they have a " no pressure tactics approach".
Saw a 16 year old Motorhome that we loved and Timberland fixed the age/use related issues without any fuss.
Timberlands owner is very approachable and sorted a minor problem immediately.

They Couldn't Be Bothered

We visited Timberland with a view to buying a new or used motorhome. It would have been a cash purchase, but we got the impression the two salesmen who came out could hardly be bothered to speak to us. We got the strong impression they did not rate us as serious "prospects" as buyers, which we most certainly were. They told us just to look at the motorhomes on our own. They said that they were all open and unlocked, but several that we were interested in were not unlocked.

We did need advice, as we were wanting a motorhome on which we could carry a motorscooter. There are complicated factors involving weight of motorhome, overhang from back axel, overall weight back axel can support, etc. which have to be taken into account when assessing whether a motorhome can carry a scooter legally and safely, but we had to discover this information from Google searches.

The sales staff refused even to take our contact details, saying "just keep watching our website."

The general attitude of the sales staff was offhand and that they couldn't be bothered.

Needless to say, we will not be going to Timberland again or buying a motorhome from them.

Unbelievably poor service, avoid

Unbelievably poor service. Agreed to purchase a Burstner Motorhome.Travelled the same day (Sunday) 120 miles one way to find that the lazy salesperson had not even bothered to check the correct specification of the Motorhome that we had been discussing for 20 minutes on the phone. Arrived on site, no welcome, the salesperson showed us the Motorhome. A 2 berth, not 4 as we had agreed. Complete waste of time. MD then got involved and we agreed to purchase another Motorhome for 7K more. Paid a 2K deposit and waited for September (71 plate). They rang back 2 days later, did not introduce themselves and advised me that the deal had gone sour and that they did not like my attitude and were cancelling the sale. Over promised and woefully under delivered. Only consolation is that the £70K Motorhome we were buying is still on the Lot unsold. I can assure you that there are far better dealers out there who will not mess you around. I bought elsewhere. In my opinion AVOID this place!!

In response to Timberland`s reply to my recent Google review. Their response is in fact 50% accurate. I did use two expletives, both of them in the outside display area. They were directed squarely at the salesperson that handled our initial enquiry. I called him a useless s*d and thanked him for wasting our Fi*g time. I then visited the showroom and asked the young lady at reception if the MD or a senior director was available, she confirmed that she could get her father (The MD), who appeared in the showroom. I asked if we could sit and discuss my complaint in private but he insisted that we remain in the showroom. I discussed my personal dissatisfaction with the way in which my enquiry had been handled and the poor performance of the salesperson. In response, I was invited to review the stock once again and that a deal was in fact possible. Timberland would rather me leave as a satisfied customer than an unhappy one. My wife and I chose a more expensive vehicle to which would be fitted at Timberlands expense a TV, TV Ariel, an Alarm, plus a full tank of fuel. A £500.00 discount was also offered plus a Hamper as a goodwill gesture (this is contained within our purchase Invoice 15.08.2021, a copy of which I still have).
Had anyone used the type of language in front of any of my 3 daughters, that you had implied that I had used in front of yours, they would have been escorted off site immediately and politely requested never to return. However, you were so devastated by my behaviour that you instead allowed my wife and I to remain on site for a further one and a half hours, negotiate the sale and pay you a £2000.00 deposit. You have further embarrassed yourselves and displayed a terrible lack of judgement in attempting to discredit your customers in order to disguise your own shortcomings. Shame on you.

I seem to have touched a nerve! however, I am afraid that this must be my final piece of correspondence with you concerning this matter.
Three things that may help to improve your feedback score (in particular your 5 x 1 star ratings on Yell).

Spend more than 1 day a week on site, as you had stated to me that you do. In doing so you are letting yourself, your staff and more crucially your customers down. Staff requires leadership and without it chaos eventually ensues.

Concentrate on improving your customer experience. Reflect upon feedback and learn from it, be it good, bad or indifferent. Remember, someone has felt so aggrieved by your companies actions that they have taken valuable time from their day to express their concerns with you (also, you do realise that the remarks made here by you are actually visible to the general public)? Use all feedback as a resource to continually train, develop and re assign your staff.

Finally, Micro manage your business for the next 12 months. If you spend as much time concentrating on that as you seem to do defending your reputation, your Daughter may just stand a chance of actually inheriting a business someday.

Avoid until Management has addressed some fundamental issues

Purchased a motor home last year(2021)…

Purchased a motor home last year(2021) After market sales disgusting. Travelled once then no heating, we rang the company explained the problem they were very nice said JULIAN would ring back! After a few days with no call back we rang again spoke to Julian went through the obvious try this try that (which we already had)still no joy leave it with me I will have to speak to whale, weeks went by still no response rang back again was told it’s the re-set button which it clearly wasn’t as it was doing it’s job! Still waiting for Julian to get back to us after months of waiting now taking it to a third party to get sorted at our expense. 50k may not be a lot to them but it is to us. We will never purchase from them ever again
