Very disappointed
Very disappointed, Carlisle I booked a table for 7.30 for 4 people for my daughter's leaving meal, got here only to be told kitchen closes at 8 for staff meeting, I never once got a message or anything to say this or I would of re booked, we came from Workington, felt rushed and didn't enjoy the meal at all, couldn't get any drinks or desert

For a carvery pretty sad when the only meat option is turkey. Roatsies rock hard and not sure about what was in the cauliflower but tasted funky pretty bad for something that used to be ok
Innkeeper Exeter- Have to say the room really smelt of…
Have to say the room really smelt of damp no opening of the windows could hide that it was through the hotel.
Also there was no continental breakfast as advertised.. no yoghurt no muffin no pasties no cereal, fruit juice was one glass on entering
The jam that was available had flies hoovering around it ( obvs that’s a nature thing) but could have had a cover over it.
Had my children been there they wouldn’t have eaten anything.
So didn’t feel the breakfast was worth the money as no alternative to bacon and sausage ow apart from the Yorkshire pudding with meat based gravey- ( obvs a thing in Devon .. but never seen that before elsewhere)
Evening meal - didn’t try to be honest what we saw was a put off as people were piling their plate like they were starved it was very appealing and we asked about buffet and staff said fully booked anyway so had a pizza delivered.
Excellent service as always Demi goes…
Excellent service as always Demi goes out her way to help everyone is so helpful there food is gorgeous
Broken Oven..AGAIN
This is the second time we have tried to visit the restaurant in Silverknows, Edinburgh and the second time it has been closed due to issues.
We were met by a young member of staff who asked if we had a booking, which we didn’t. She went on to laugh and tell us the place is falling to bits and the oven is not working so we lucked out.
We found a lovely restaurant not far away and won’t be trying Toby ever again, shocking way to run a business.
No armed forces Day invite
I’ve always enjoyed visiting Toby Carvery and have happily left positive reviews before. That’s why I was disappointed with the response I received on this occasion. I wrote on behalf of my brother, a veteran and loyal customer, after he hadn’t received this year’s Armed Forces Day invitation. I wasn’t asking for special treatment, just whether anything could be done. Unfortunately, the reply felt impersonal and lacked the empathy and goodwill I’d hoped for.
Best Toby we've had
Visited the Colchester White Hart today, best Toby we've ever had. Great service, fresh hot food, clean and spacious venue with really helpful staff. Would recommend.
Tasty take-away
Visited Toby Carvery Brockworth for a take away afternoon lunch. The meal was ready for me to collect on arrival. Well packaged, the food was still hot when we got home. Plenty of ingredients, well cooked and tasty.
Visited Hilsea Toby carvery on Saturday…
Visited Hilsea Toby carvery on Saturday morning 25th July for breakfast with my wife
The food was disappointing
Sausages with no taste to them ,the potato onion and bacon was a dried up mush plus no fried egg .
There was a soggy mushed up scrambled egg that was dripping wet and tomatoes that were just bits not plum tomatoes
Breakfast for two wasn’t worth getting up for
This was always a good breakfast and was the first time we had been for a while
I won’t be going back anytime soon

Toby Carvery Clacton-on-sea....if your…
Toby Carvery Clacton-on-sea....if your looking for a wholesome meal after 7.30pm in the evening then the place to avoid is the Toby Carvery in Clacton on sea absolutely atrocious myself and my family found the whole evening meal at this establishment disgusting the vegetables were basically mush the beef was tough and stringy and the scrag ends of gammon was fatty complaining to the management was met with a manager who didn't want to hear any criticism and tried to defend this abysmal mess by saying his staff constantly inspect thier offerings throughout the serving whatever they were doing wasn't concerned with presentation and quality the manager then insulted me with weak and undefensable excuses then stormed off never to be seen again the truth is if you can't serve the same quality of product in the evening that you do throughout the day (or maybe this is the garbage they serve throughout the day) you shouldn't take bookings when the product is past a certain quality. So inconclusion if you want to waste over 50quid then go onto the end of the pier and chuck it into the seayou will get more satisfaction than eating at Toby Carvery Clacton-on-sea
My visit to Toby Carvery Fleetsbridge…
My visit to Toby Carvery Fleetsbridge was one of the most embarrassing and disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time.
My wife and I visited with what we believed was a perfectly valid voucher offering a small carvery for £5 each. There was absolutely nothing on the voucher that made it clear this was only valid for a child's meal. We ordered in good faith, only to be presented with a bill for the full amount.
Instead of acknowledging that the wording on the voucher was unclear or making any attempt to resolve the situation, the staff made us feel as though we had done something wrong. Being challenged about it in front of other customers was incredibly embarrassing and completely unnecessary. Good customer service is about listening, showing understanding and finding a reasonable solution – not making paying customers feel humiliated.
Whether the voucher was poorly worded or the promotion had been misunderstood, the responsibility lies with Toby Carvery, not with customers who are simply reading the offer as it appears. It would have cost very little to honour the voucher as a gesture of goodwill, but instead they chose to prioritise being right over treating customers with respect.
The food was overshadowed by the dreadful customer service. We left feeling frustrated, embarrassed and with no desire to return. There are plenty of restaurants that value their customers and know how to deal with genuine misunderstandings professionally.
I certainly won't be returning to Toby Carvery Fleetsbridge, and based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If you're going to advertise offers, make sure they're clear, and if a customer is genuinely confused by your promotion, treat them with courtesy rather than making them feel uncomfortable.
Toby in Walsall
Toby in Walsall. Lady who greeted us on front desk was kind, friendly and so helpful. Assisted us as my friend had a stick and mobility issues. She even carried his Carvery to the table. The food deck was clean & tidy. Helpful waiter too unlike the Burnt Tree Toby who's food deck was dirty and staff unhelpful.
Treated with no respect
went to Eastbourne carvery to enjoy the over 70's offer as 2 disabled pensioners. A young man called Alan seemed to take exception to the fact that I requested one of the upright bench seats ( due to my back problems) and he had to clean it out of sequence! I did thank him when we sat down, but he then proceeded to ignore us serving 2 others that arrived later than us, I then called him over. His attitude was surly and very rude, refusing us the offer saying we needed vouchers ( none had been required when I booked) and saying none of the drinks we wanted were available. In the end we left, and we WON'T be going back
Toby Carvery Aintree
Toby Carvery Aintree, Liverpool, I had checked before it has 5 for Hygiene, so I hoped it would be OK, first time eating at one. I went for a Veggie option Cheese Pie and veg, 2 hours later I had bad stomach pains and diarrhoea. I was away for work so it wasnt very helpful for my next day.
Toby Carvery 1 Southend Road Woodford
Went to the Woodford Toby Carvery. Haven't been there for a few months, but when we last went there it was Excellent.
But this time it seems its under new management. The meat served were in very small portions, we were told that this was the management being strict on portions. We took a seat near to the servery, apparently this area was close, but we were not informed of this. It was very hot as the airconditioning was turned off and the windows were closed with the blinds down. When I asked for the blinds to be lifted, I was then informed that this section was closed, I wish they had informed us of this before we started eating. There were no signs saying it was closed!
The service was awful as there was only one waiter working. The duty manager as he called himself, didn't have a clue, he just sat there watching the waiter run around overworked. It was never like this in the past, I've been come to this carvery for many years now, I think it's time for a change.
actually this Toby at 1 Southend Road has a reputation of being the best in the area. But not anymore! Time to move on.....
Strathclyde park, the worst
Strathclyde park carvery is one of the worst. You will queue for over 1 hour to wait for cold food and not much choice. The waitresses are fine, the food however is so slow. They forever say they are short staffed in the kitchen. The poor guy serving has to do everything and fill up the serving decks. We’ve sat for 45 minutes today with a queue still 5/6 rows deep and decided not to eat here tonight. Unfortunately we were stuck watching it as they are quick to bring a drink over. Think we’ll give up with this one as regular visitors, it’s been this way for a while.
Dissapointing visit
Normally quite happy to visit Toby Carvery Redhill but tonight was very dissapointing to say the least.
The amount of meat was hardly enough to make a sandwich.
They had run out of vegetarian bake at 7pm!!!!
Had to wait for roast potatoes. Other vegetable cold.
Comments met with a shrug!!!!
Buck your ideas up Redhill or we will go elsewher

We had lunch at Loughborough Toby…
We had lunch at Loughborough Toby today. The food here is fresh and absolutely delicious. The staff are always incredibly friendly and polite. It’s also a wonderful place for gatherings with friends and family. We visit quite often and will definitely keep coming back.
The service was outstanding, thanks to Helen. They are an absolute asset to the team—so professional, friendly, and excellent at what they do! We really appreciate your service Helen.
