This 5 star ⭐ rating is not for anything but the amazing service James(Redruth )gave after waiting 13 hours for the RAC to never show up themselves. RAC had left us in 30 degree heat for 13 hours with a dog with no local services to get fluids or be able to go toilet.

I am disabled and was unable to walk, had no money for the £40 taxis to the local shop and ran out of my medication which RAC did not care about.

James arrived and the first thing he did was introduce himself and give me and the dog his drink. He managed to repair the vehicle enough to get us home to our local workshop and couldn't be anymore helpful.

Absolutely disgusting service from Tonkins ,acting on behalf of the RAC
Lies after lies ,took 6 days to deliver our car to the garage ,don't know where our car was for 6 days ,then when literally dumped in the service garage car park conveniently after the garage was closed so their handing of the car was unwitnessed ,they gave no care and attention to the vehicle, damaged the underneath of the car sheering off the bolts off the airo shield also braking the drivers handle , leaving the broken piece inside the car before locking it and then not dropping the key card off In the allocated box provided ,in fact not left the key card at all ! Nearly £1000 damage plus labour charges ! If not a satisfactory outcome via the RAC who allocated our car to these bunch of cowboys we will be taking this to court and the ombudsman!

We broke down when we were on holiday. Tonkin recovery came out within a hour and we had to have our car towed all the home to Coventry as RAC couldn’t fix our car. We were kept up to date with what was going on. Very helpful company. It was very stressful situation but they made it a lot less stressful. Thank you

The recovery driver, Damo, kept me updated with his ETA and when he arrived he was very helpful and recovered my car to my local Volvo dealership. He was a very helpful and friendly guy and I cannot fault the service I received from Tonkin Recovery. Great job from the whole team at Tonkin. Thank you

Damo assessed what would normally be an awkward recovery (dead car stuck in a garage at the end of challenging driveway) with ingenuity. The car was was loaded and taken to the garage with minimal fuss and complete professionalism. Damo was efficient and friendly making the whole process worry free.

I am so Grateful for Tonkins recovery, I had an awful experience with the RAC.
When they picked me up, he was promt, helpful and careful. I don't think I got his name, but he took me back to Exeter last night. He was amazing, got me and my friend home safe and he was so friendly and especially helpful when it came to my car. He told me more than the guy who supposedly 'fixed' it did. Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU! I definitely recommend if you need help.

Dreadful company, horrible people and disgustingly dirty premises and will leave your prestige car out in the rain and leaking water through the broken windscreen, avoid like the plague!!!!

08 Nov 2024. A BIG thank you to the gentleman from Tonkin who assisted some young men at Umberleigh train station today. The gentleman was delivering a car to a property near the station and when he learned that one of the young men’s car battery was flat, he gladly assisted them in trying to start their car. If he’s indicative of the type of person that works at Tonkin, then one cannot go wrong using their services. Thank you Sir, from a Mum that witnessed your kindness.

Damo attended. Friendly but professional. Calm and helpful attitude. Took time to call ahead when not able to arrive at expected time.(-arranged via breakdown cover) Would recommend as lone female breakdown.

Outstanding customer service from Jason today.fast and friendly recovery.went above and beyond to get our family home safe.Jason was amazing with our son, who had special needs.anyone will be lucky to be recovered by Jason!!

4 hours late and then dishonest. The company took nearly five hours to arrive for a breakdown despite an ETA of 1 hour. Their own driver said they had him doing odd jobs for an hour and a half before leaving from the other end of the county! He didn't realise his company provided a GPS tracking link which showed him 10 minutes down the road for an hour before he arrived. In the end, I fixed the car myself before he even arrived.

Damo came and recovered us super quickly next to a busy road with no hassle
