Stayed at travel lodge halkyn wales,I…

Stayed at travel lodge halkyn wales,I was very disappointed with our stay. I paid £138 for one night for a family room for four people, which was far too expensive considering the condition of the hotel.
The hotel is extremely outdated, with old furniture, old-fashioned lighting and peeling paint on the walls. The room felt very stuffy and uncomfortable. We stayed during the summer, and there was no air conditioning or proper ventilation. The window only opened slightly due to a safety lock, and the curtains made it difficult to get any fresh air. My children and I could hardly sleep because the room was so hot and suffocating.the small fan provided was not sufficient and slow.
The bathroom was in a very poor condition. The toilet door had no lock at all, which is unacceptable for a family room. There was mould and rust on the bathroom floor, hair stuck to the tiles, and the toilet itself was stained yellow and looked old and unhygienic. There was also no proper extractor fan, making the bathroom feel damp and unpleasant.
Overall, the room was not clean and is in desperate need of refurbishment. For the price charged, I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness, comfort and maintenance. I would not recommend this hotel unless significant improvements are made, especially to the bathrooms and ventilation.

Review of Mark

Review of Mark, Manager – Travelodge London Bromley (London Road)

Our experience at Travelodge London Bromley (London Road) was one of the most distressing hotel experiences our family has ever had. My brother has disabilities, and I also have health conditions that can be made worse by extreme stress. We expected understanding, professionalism and basic standards of cleanliness. Instead, we left feeling dismissed, upset and traumatised.

Initially, Mark, the manager, appeared polite and approachable. However, his attitude changed completely after my brother continued to point out further cleanliness issues in our room. Within moments, his manner became dismissive, abrupt and confrontational. As a manager, we expected him to listen, investigate our concerns and work towards a reasonable solution. Instead, we felt that our concerns were treated as though they were an inconvenience.

We showed Mark multiple hygiene concerns, including photographs, and he also viewed some of the issues himself. These included hair in the bed, hair in the sink, heavy limescale, stains on the floors of replacement rooms that looked like curry and chewing gum, and a toilet that appeared to have dried waste remaining in it. In our opinion, these rooms were not cleaned to an acceptable standard.

Despite seeing these issues, Mark repeatedly insisted that “nothing is wrong” and that the rooms are cleaned every day. We found this response dismissive and difficult to understand given what we had observed.

At one point, Mark said to my brother, “You’re going to keep finding and picking faults with every room.” We found this comment disrespectful. Our response is simple: there should not have been faults to find. Paying guests should not have to inspect room after room for cleanliness issues. We were simply asking for a clean, hygienic room.

As the conversation continued, Mark became increasingly short and snappy. Rather than showing empathy, he appeared frustrated that we were continuing to raise concerns. We felt that he became angry within a matter of moments instead of managing the situation calmly and professionally, which is what we would expect from someone in a managerial position.

The way our elderly grandmother, my disabled brother and our family were spoken to left us feeling humiliated and disrespected. We did not feel listened to, and no meaningful apology or resolution was offered.

The stress of this experience had a significant impact on my health. During this incident, I experienced seizures and suffered burns to my skin. The situation caused me extreme distress and made an already difficult day far worse.

Because of the trauma caused by this experience and our health conditions, we asked whether Travelodge could provide compensation or even extend our booking so that we had time to recover and find suitable accommodation. We did not feel that our circumstances or the impact on our family were taken seriously.

This experience followed previous unpleasant interactions with reception staff, including Prince and Deo, making the overall stay feel hostile rather than welcoming.

We have retained photographs documenting the condition of the rooms and have submitted formal complaints. We are considering further legal action in relation to our experience and the treatment we received.

Based on our experience, we would not recommend this hotel. If you are disabled, travelling with vulnerable relatives or simply expect a clean room and respectful customer service, we encourage you to consider alternative accommodation.

Travelodge should review its housekeeping standards, staff training, complaint handling procedures and the conduct of the management team so that other guests do not have the same experience.
O **Review by a Registered Nurse and Physiotherapist**

As a **Registered Nurse and Physiotherapist**, I am well aware of the importance of hygiene, infection prevention, patient safety and professional standards\. Based on what I personally observed during our stay, I was deeply concerned by the condition of the rooms and by the way our concerns were handled\.

In my opinion, the presence of hair in the bed and sink, significant limescale, stained flooring and what appeared to be dried waste remaining in the toilet did not reflect the standard of cleanliness I would reasonably expect from a hotel\. What was equally concerning was that these issues were repeatedly dismissed despite being shown to management\.Rather than investigating our concerns in a structured and professional manner, we felt that Mark’s responses were dismissive and defensive.

Travelodge need to improve if they want to charge as much as they are now.

Travelodge really need to Buck up their ideas now they are no longer a cheap option and most nights in London well over £100 a night

So rigid on the 3pm check in time and need to pay £20 at The Gatwick Central if you want to check in at 2.35pm

The sign you have to put on the door is ridiculous, just empty bins and replace towels and tea/coffee daily.

Worst of all is the WiFi,it’s not only slow and drops out all the time ,suddenly it will stop and they want more money when you have already paid and you need to call Virgin media to have it reset which is such is pain.

If they want to charge the same as full service hotels they need to match the service you are now paying a lot for.

I honestly didn't think I would be…

I honestly didn't think I would be treated like rubbish. Travelodge Harwich. I will not book my warthog there. So I booked for 2 nights. At booking, I could not make amendments. I contacted the hotel and was advised not to worry as this could be done at check in.arrived to a barrage of negativity from staff. Was told, "sorry for the inconvenience, we cannot make amendments here, you were given incorrect information". Contacted customer service, was answered by a very rude and abrupt man. He told me, "just book another room to separate your family" Yet it was confirmed at booking that I would get help. They even refused to refund for food that I paid for.I had no choice but to look elsewhere. All my money gone. Fraudsters!!

Very disappointing stay

Very disappointing stay – poor service and cleanliness concerns

I had a very disappointing stay at Travelodge London City Airport.

The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. We asked for a room with an airport view, but the staff member took a long time to deal with the request and then gave us a room on the opposite side of the hotel. When we asked to change rooms, he hesitated and claimed the hotel was full. I found this difficult to believe, and his attitude was dismissive and unhelpful.

The condition of the bed was also concerning. We both woke up with several bites and itchy rashes, which we suspect may have been caused by bed bugs. Whatever the cause, it made our stay extremely uncomfortable and raised serious concerns about the cleanliness of the room.

Based on our experience, I would advise others to stay elsewhere. The customer service was poor, and the condition of the bed was unacceptable.

Absolutely horrible company.

Absolutely horrible company.

I booked a room for around £30, but shortly afterwards I realised I’d selected the wrong date. I called the hotel to change the booking, only to discover later that the number was a premium-rate line.

To make matters worse, I was kept waiting for a long time before speaking to anyone. It felt as though the lengthy wait was designed to maximise the charges. I didn’t realise the cost until my phone bill arrived, showing an extra charge of more than £60 just for trying to change the booking.

The hotels themselves are no better. I’ve experienced dirty carpets, smelly pillows, mysterious stains, and even found body hair in the room. Overall, a very disappointing experience that I wouldn’t recommend.

So it's got a long story so I need you…

So it's got a long story so I needed to book a room for a week for a family emergency. I was in the car park and my wife booked it on online for me from Home while I was sat in the car park at travel lode Waltham Abbey, I went in to check in and they never had the booking eventually they found it but my wife accidentally booked it for the following week. We tried to change it but they wouldn't let us we had to rebook for the week that I wanted as I have a no refund policy even though we explained the mistake. It was very easily done. We had to pay over £600 for each week, which I find unacceptable as this is all within an hour of booking. It was just a genuine mistake. We have wrote to Head Office and still five weeks down the line. We are still waiting for a solution. Also this hotel houses a lot of people from local councils for emergency accommodation and with their pets as well. end of day the week we booked mistake. They would've easily sold it again.

Booked into travellodge York 19th to…

Booked into travellodge York 19th to 22nd July upgraded the room and ended up on the top floor. Paid for breakfast when placing the reservation wish we never was not that great. Every day when going back into the hotel had to travel back down the 62 stairs to reception as the key card kept locking us out. Got no help just re scanned the card. Toilet seat was slipping off shower only worked when it wanted too. What made it worse was when asked if we could move rooms we were told would have to move down to lower floor but loose out on extras we paid for without refunding. Planning a trip to London January was going to book travellodge but now I don’t think so.

Worst stay

It cost us £780 for 10 days for 1 family room, without breakfast, the staff are lovley and friendly n helpful, we stayed at ashton branch, we stayed in Room1, we had people smoking outside near our window and being loud so kept us awake, other customers being loud and no respect for those other customers staying who have to get up for work, the hallway near room 1 absolutley stunk all the time it was vile, the vending machine no diet drinks for type1 diabetics and too expensive, litter all at back of hotel even pair of trainers, people not picking up their dog poo, outside bin constantly overflowing, we had deal with quite a lot of spiders in our room, the pub on site gives you discount on carvery breakfast but was not very nice cold n hard bacon rubber eggs, and far to expensive, worst stay in a travelodge wish i could get a refund or part refund as I certainly wont be staying in a travelodge ever again i would rather sleep in the car

No amendment even for a fee.

The information online suggests that you can change your booking for a fee, as long as it's not on the day. Actually they refused to give me a penny back. Scammers.

Deserve to go bust no customer service.

Deserve to go bust no customer service.
I booked a 1 night room and instantly noted for some reason it had booked a 1week later. I tried to cancel via website but had no option to. I tried webchat no option. I went to call and they want to charge a premium rate number, clear message here basically 'go away' unless you want to pay for support. Shocking and poor, my first and last time using them.
All i wanted to do was rebook my room.

The London Oval Travelodge are disgraceful. I didn't get a room despite having booked and pre paid room and 2 weeks later i have had no refund or even follow up response. Absolutely disgraceful customer service, you can't speak with anyone, the hotel just refer you to customer service on their website which is a form only. It says they will respond in 3-5 days. 2 weeks later now and i've heard nothing. I called The Oval Travelodge and they just said we can't do anything. Keep away from travelodge.

Infestation or double booked, make up your mind

Made a booking for a family room in May for July 2026, 1 night stay. Drove from London to Hereford for a graduation ceremony. Check in time was 3pm, received a call at 3.50 to say our room was no longer available due to infestation. As we were only a few minutes away, we arrived just after 4, and were told the room was double booked! So it was no longer infested!!!!!

The guy at the reception was so unhelpful, i asked why we were not contacted earlier, he said the system double booked the rooms!
I asked to speak to supervisor or manager and was told they were both off sight! Why have management if they can't be there to manage situations like this????
I asked the receptionist, how do you expect people to trust you, if you treat them like this, he said "I don't expect people to trust us"
No alternative was offered, when I asked for alternative he said their nearest branch is 40-45 min drive!
I was very annoyed at the situation, but I think the right customer service would have made up for it, but this guy was very unfriendly, unhelpful and unsympathetic to our situation.
We ended up booking premier inn for the night which was a little more in price but worth the extra.
Will I ever use Travelodge or recommend it? NO.

Charged £446.47 against their own invoice for £381.97

Prepaid £446.47 for a 3-night stay at Travelodge Edinburgh Park (14–17 July), including £64.50 for breakfast. I cancelled only the breakfast via their website, over a week in advance. Travelodge processed the cancellation, removed the breakfast, and reissued VAT invoice 131979868 showing the amount owed as £381.97 — £64.50 less than I paid.

They kept the £64.50 anyway. When I queried it, customer services replied that "saver rate bookings are non-refundable" and declined to reconcile it — despite their own invoice stating I owe £381.97, not £446.47.

To be clear: this isn't about a disputed policy. Their own invoice says £381.97. They charged £446.47. The difference was never refunded.

(For what it's worth, the breakfast I cancelled it over — at the first Travelodge — was poor enough that I didn't want to pay for three more days of it.)

Shocking. Still awaiting refunds.

I have booked 2 flexible rooms for different dates but unfortunately I've had to cancel these. I requested a refund for the first room on 26 June and the other room on 4 July. To date I am still awaiting a refund for both these rooms. There is no free customer service number so you can't speak to anyone. All you can do is fill out a complaint form, get a complaint number and wait 10 days and start again. Shocking!

Rip off charges

All I can say, is this company are a rip off. I had to move my stay date and I was aware I had to pay a cist for the change of date. I was fine with this even though I thought it was excessive.
The problem occurred when I accidently chose the wrong new date. I realised straight after and went to amend it again. Travelodge charged me another fee and have refused to refund it. In my view this is unfair as my initial change was a simple error.
What a terrible company. In total it cost me nearly 90 pounds for a single night stay which originally cost 45 pounds.
My advice...take the increased cost option but do it with a different company.

Awful overpriced room.

Awful overpriced room.
Paid £179.99 for a room, massively hiked up price because of a concert.
Room has no air conditioning, with only a small fan for cooling, which in actual fact only circulates hot air. Room was so hot I couldn't sleep. Had to have the window open throughout the night, and the noise throughout the night was horrendous.
Breakfast wasn't up to much either, sausages looked like they'd been nuked by the Russians.
I've also added a photo of the wonderful view from the room...nice hey?
