Good price, all claims were resolved

The price is great in comparison with other insurance houses in my home country. I’ve had to make one medical (minor) and one excess claim and both were resolved to my satisfaction within several days. Would use True Traveller again.

Solid travel partner?

We contracted travel insurance when we were on a trip to Vietnam, True Traveller.
My barely verbal son complained about headaches on the right side of the head. We brought him to the pediatrician in American hospital, she found out that he needed glasses. We paid and claimed the consultation fee, True Traveller answered that they wouldn't pay saying that we chose to give treatment in Vietnam. As a reminder, in Norway any treatment is free for my son, so why would we choose that, plus we only asked for the consultation fees back.
From my experience, insurance is like a travel partner in case of need.

The latest update: The claim was finally accepted, thanks to Sandra who took the time to read the claim to find out that my son suffered from a strong headache and that an eye check was ordered by this doctor to reach a diagnosis. She sent us a comprehensive email that made us feel better, and more understood.
I still have mixed feelings but I feel way better with True Traveller now.

We cannot comment on specific claims to protect the medical confidentiality of our customers.

However, in general terms, the medical part of travel insurance covers you for urgent medical attention if there is a sudden and unexpected accident or if you become ill during a trip. Your travel insurance doesn’t cover any elective treatments you may choose to have, for example a general check-up or immunizations, nor for any minor, non-emergency treatment.

No travel policy, nor indeed health insurance, pays for eye tests, and even when threatened with 1-star reviews, can we pay for claims which are non-urgent.

The claim has been passed over to our Compliance Officer for review.

The perfect insurer

The perfect insurer. So.easy to claim, customer service it A1, they reply to emails incredibly quickly. I've claimed off them a few times and I'm always pleasantly surprised at how easy it is.

They Reimburse Medical Claims

Update 15/07/2024:

I've changed my rating from 1/5 stars to 4/5 stars. I think that it's unfortunate that I cannot rate True Traveller separate from their partner - AXA as I would rate True Traveller as a 5/5 and AXA as a 2/5.

True Traveller has always been very responsive and very prompt to reimburse out of pocket expenses. After sending screen shots of the bill from the hospital app to True Traveller, they reimbursed me the same day. They also provided a thorough explanation of the delay in payment - the US hospital had refused to give AXA the invoice.

The reason why I give AXA a 2/5 is because of their lack of response. I emailed them on July 5th for an update as well as July 10th - and they ignored both emails. They were also uncooperative - the hospital asked for a claims address to provide the invoice to, but AXA would not give me this address.

Avoid! I took out travel insurance because I was going to be traveling to the US with my baby and wanted to be extra safe. Unfortunately, my baby needed to seek urgent care in the US. True Traveller outsources to AXA who agreed to pay for the ER (I have this in writing) but then never paid the hospital and also ghosted me - they stopped responding to my emails! We went to the ER on May 31st and it's now July 12th. I called True Traveller directly who assured me that AXA would get in touch with me right away and still have not heard back. Now the US hospital is contacting me via the hospital app every day for payment and says that they cannot get in touch with my travel insurance. The bill is $4,152.

We cannot specifically comment on any reviews made on third party review sites to protect customer confidentiality, particularly if it refers to medical cases.

However, on a general level, getting hospitals in North America to release invoices, even after receiving formal guarantees of payments, can be exhausting. They will in almost all cases only ever send them to the patient.

So, in this situation, just forward these invoices to your insurance company for them to deal with.

True Traveller don’t outsource cases to AXA. We partner with AXA, one of the largest insurance companies in the world, and they handle all our emergency medical cases.

Follow up: The facility involved wouldn't even release the invoice or confirm costs to our customer, let alone us, which was a first. Our claims team however liaised with our customer and managed, through the “app” which the hospital had provided, to pay the claim down in full. Well, as much as we could anyway, as they still wouldn’t 100% confirm costs.

Really impressive service.

Unfortunately had to use my insurance but making a claim was quick and easy

Having used True Traveller for 2 big trips, I unfortunately needed to use the insurance for my latest trip. The claims process was quick and easy! The prices are always competitive which makes it even better. Thank you for looking after us I will use you again and have already recommended to friends before needing to make the claim.

Incredibly fast reimbursement

Last Saturday evening I ended up in the ER of a huge private hospital in Delhi because of a thrombosis event. I submitted the report and bills from the hospital to True Traveler and received a reply less than 24 hours later, and the reimbursement very quickly after that. Very simple, straightforward and fast. This is the second time I use true traveler as insurance for longer travels in India but the first time I needed to make a claim. Very happy and grateful for their service.

Perfect for full time travelers

after 1 year of travel with my family I couldn’t be happier with the insurance we chose. We made 4 of 5 claims: lost item, damaged phone display, a few minor medical issues (incl dentist). Never have I experienced any problems or obstruction from true traveler’s side . I always felt taken care of. It amazes me how fast they reimburse the money. We will stick with them for another year of our trip and def recommend!

Easy claim process

I have been using True Traveller for many years but have luckily never had to make a claim, until now due to a very lengthy flight delay. The process was easy and straightforward and my claim was settle within a week.

Excellent claim experience

I had never claimed on travel insurance and never really thought I’d have too. Having been taken ill and admitted to hospital in Thailand, True Traveller passed me on to the claims team who were in regular contact throughout my hospital stay. They dealt with the hospital and paid my bill direct to the hospital the day I was released. I then had to put in a further claim for some additional costs I incurred. This was dealt with and paid promptly. I was impressed with the ability of the service to step in and do what they said they would do when I needed them. I would definitely use them again.

An excellent service, fair, efficient and trustworthy.

I broke my ankle whilst abroad in Canada, True Traveller were fantastic, always responded within 24 hours. Each claim made was resolved within maximum 48 hours. They were incredibly fair with their settlement agreement and helped me out a lot with answering any questions or concerns. Couldn't have asked for a better service.
