My Experience with Tuff Shed: A Warning to Potential Customers

Initially, I was highly satisfied with my Tuff Shed purchase and gave the company a glowing 5-star review. Unfortunately, my experience over the past year has drastically changed my opinion. I now feel compelled to share the ongoing issues I have faced and why I can no longer recommend Tuff Shed.

From the beginning, the shed was not adequately blocked during construction, leading to the front left side of the structure dropping. This misalignment caused significant problems with the doors and the hasp, making them difficult to open, close, or lock.

In September 2023, I contacted Stephanie from Warranty Claims in OKC. She dispatched a single technician to address the issue. However, the technician was unable to lift the shed and install additional blocks or shims by himself, so I had to assist him manually. While this temporary solution worked for a while, the same issue reoccurred in August 2024.

This time, I again reached out to Stephanie and explained the recurring issue, detailing the inadequate blocking during construction and the repairs made the previous year. She sent two technicians to resolve the problem. I walked them through the situation before leaving for an appointment, expecting them to fix the issue professionally.

Upon my return, I was shocked by what I found. The technicians had left a mess: the shims they added were protruding beyond the shed's edge, preventing us from reattaching the lattice. The hasp was barely functional, and, worst of all, the metal frame of the shed had been damaged during their work. When I contacted Stephanie to address these concerns, she informed me that the technicians were instructed only to work on the doors and refused to lift the shed as required. She promised to send another team to fix the mess but, despite waiting two months, no action was taken.

Left with no choice, I hired contractors at my own expense to properly fix the issues. I also wrote a letter to Mr. Tom Saurey, CEO of Tuff Shed, detailing my concerns, but I never received a response.

Given these repeated failures in construction quality, warranty service, and customer support, I now feel obligated to revoke my previous 5-star rating. Based on my experience, I must give Tuff Shed a NEGATIVE rating and cannot recommend them to others.

Ordered a Tuff Shed and got the run around as to when the shed would be delivered - had to wait for engineering and "the like" to get ahold of us so we could get a permit (which they indicated the if they pulled it it would cost 480.00!! and take 6 weeks which is rediculous ) Scott is the sales person that is 100% in it for sales only! We already paid for it on our home depot card so I suggest dont pay until you have written confirmation of installation. Not good - we are going to try and to get our money back from Home Depot and cancel our order Not sure how that will work - Go directly to Home Depot or Lowes and get your own installation person

My husband and I just had our storage shed from Tuff Shed installed yesterday. We both very happy with the results. From the moment I spoke to the sales representative Jerry Sims who came to my yard and helped me to choose location and suggestion to build our shed to sign documents and scheduling delivery and installation (installer Victor and Julio did great job install our shed), the process was smooth and well planned . My husband and I had a great experience and will definitely buy shed from Tuff Shed again if we need more and strongly recommend Tuff Shed to friends and families.

Dealing with Tuff Shed in Mobile was GREAT!!! Haley was a super sales representative for the company. She was an expert and could answer every question I had. She expertly guided me through the process of purchasing a 10' X 12' Ranch Pro Shed. Savannah coordinated the site plan and engineering specifications with my local code office and Ragan coordinated the construction and installation of the shed. Chris and his helper were master installers as they worked with the threat of rain on a Saturday to complete the installation in less than 6 hours. Tuff Shed is truly the Cadillac of utility portable sheds well worth the little extra you pay. As they say "You get what you pay for!!!!" They are top of the line!!!!!

Great job Tuff Shed Mobile Alabama. Did not take long to deliver and install the shed. The guy who came to put the shed up was polite, professional and thorough. I love my new shed and it’s beautiful. The Tuff Shed office staff was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The permits were taken care of and i felt comfortable.

Purchased 16 x 24. Took Three months to install. Issues included wrong size building on order, doors in the wrong places and wrong doors on order, Missing instructions to put the building 14" off the ground. Clearance issues with installed door, huge gap at door handle on walk thru door and stairway platform wasn't installed level. The last thing was the metal roof was ordered and arrived incorrectly. It took three weeks to get the metal roof then it was installed, then it was the incorrect color. It has been a series of problems, and I have spent over ten hours of my own time working on resolutions. Pitiful.

Marco and his team were amazing. They worked tirelessly to get my large shed completed. They were professional and they knew what they were doing. They are the Orlando Tuff Shed team, but they drove to Vero Beach to get this done. I would highly recommend them to my friends and family! AWESOME WORK!!!!

We bought a shed in 2023. In March 2024, we discovered leaks. Repeated calls and no fix. Going through 4th time to fix it.

The Tuff Shed houston TX center at 290 and Wright rd in Houston is a ripe off. I ordered a replacement door on a 4 year old shed, paid $462 for the replacement door. The service manager, Tyson, didn't want to send someone out to measure it but said he could tell.me over the phone how to measure it. Then it came and didn't fit by more than 4 inches!! They remade it and sent a 1-week employee alone, he called tyson a few times, to install resulting in a door that:
1) doesn't close,
2) 80# door hinged hung with 1 inch screws in pine deco border not 2x4s that short screws didn't reach
3) door handle sideways
4) door visually crocked in opening
5) didn't even clean up their work area of the debris, had to come back next day after I called.

After numerous complaints to office/Tyson now I'm stuck with a door that doesn't shut at all!!

What a waste of time and money, terrible company! Stay away because they'll leave you worse off than you started then ghost you when customer needs a solution!!

Sept 12:
Finally I got a response from corporate Tuff Shed company, probably BBB escalated the issue because local branch on Wright rd in Houston didn't solution anything.
I have accepted a solution of local Tuff shed re-installing the door properly, this is the original solution I was asking for since July. I hope, even that they are being forced by BBB, they follow thru with the agreement to finally do this right. I'll find out someday!

Lets start with just very poor installation and, if I could give negative stars I would. Window trim cracked while cutting but installed anyway. Siding and corner trim keep sliding down. Wrong type screws used on the door with water based paint so rust keeps coming through. Roof...shingles run off about 2" to 3" from one end to the other and, on a 12' span it really looks like s#%t. Repair man has been out several times but, can't fix the roof, can't fix the trim and what has been fixed keeps popping up again. I could have gotten something like this for 1/4 of the price from a handyman in town!

Great guy very knowledgeable every question we had he had answer for took his time explaining everything
I told him what I was going to put in the shed he gave his recommendation and we went with it highly recommended

My first encounter was with Tony (sales) Excellent. Tony work with me by phone and interactive online design process put together shed that suited my needs. As far as the delivery A++ to Remi were on time, professional, polite, took precaution not to damage lawn and took time to set the level and location right where I wanted it. Thanks Remi.
Excellent customer service. Hey everyone you want be disappointed. Future Tuff shed customers ask for Remi for install.

We engaged Tuff Shed to build a custom structure for around 25k. We had previously purchased 2 structures and had received good advice and good service.

This time around, we were assigned a young salesperson to help us with this new project. He proceeded to give us poor advice on a variety of issues, offered limited information, failed to go over a number of key issues with us and we struggled to communicate promptly. When there were issues during the final production, we got a lot of pushback from the Tuff Shed team. We were told that, like it or not, we got what we paid for. Ultimately, the finished project wasn't quite finished and when we tried to resolve it, we were generally blown off. We will never do business with this company again. They are obviously a large bureaucracy with many layers. It's hard to say where "the buck stops" but it is clear they didn't care about keeping us as customers. We received no follow up calls. No check ins. Just a notice that they'd automatically charged our credit card for the final installment.

On the upside, the subcontractors who actually built the structure were outstanding. They were friendly, reasonable and were happy to explain every little thing. We've learned that it's better to work with locals from our own neighborhood than with a big, faceless chain like Tuff Shed.

paid for my shed over 3 weeks ago, after one week I was told I would get a phone call that afternoon, to set up delivery, no phone call. send emails, I think I have to go to Home Depot and get my money back.

Morgan did an amazing job with helping us install our shed/office space. She came out to my home and measured our space, which was absolutely perfect! There were some concerns I had after installation and Morgan sent over a team and fixed the issues within 24 hours. She is so honest and trustworthy, caring and patient with incredible detail. I am recommending Morgan to all of my friends and neighbors. Thank-you so much Morgan!!! we paid in full for 10x12 the contractors who put it together only put down 3 of the 4 anchors that hold it to the ground and then they never secured those anchors to the shed and now they refuse to complete the job....They got their money and have no problem screwing the very people who trusted them to do a job in full.....Never pay anyone in full until the job is completed. The contractor also had a bunch of nails sticking out that didn't get all the way into the wood hand he refuse to sink the nail properly...I had to finish their job because they wouldn;t

So I had a client who asked for a quote on building them a yard shed. They mentioned that they were also looking into tuff shed. They informed me what tuff shed quoted them. I didn't think I could compete cost wise as they deal in such bulk. They wound up going with tuff shed but I wasn't surprised. When I was able to see the final product i was really apprised however. The craftsmanship or lack there of, was a bit surprising. I took a few pictures but it appears there's not a place to post them on here. Don't be afraid to point out the obvious stuff to the installers.

So many exposed nails on inside from a ‘missed the stud scenario’. There is one area where the screw attaching the outside vertical component of the shed to the floor of the shed was not screwed in completely, a 1/4” space existed between the side wall and the floor. Every nail/ screw in the manufacture of the building is not redundant. This represents a compromise in the structural integrity of the Tuff Shed.
