Vacuumsdirect a good company

Vacuumsdirect we're not bad , and in fact very helpfull I Was a bit surprised and annoyed that I got charged for return But to be fair i wasnt willing to drive to parcelforce as i was poorly with migraine , I put that on eBay, not having much flexibility and to be honest, poor customer service, but vacuum's direct, do a good service and as long as you follow the conditions i.e. You have to drop the item back to the post office or if too heavy parcelforce or AOS . Vacuums direct are a good company.they stepped in when ebay woulnt help and Vacuums direct arranged for the post office or post man to collect the parcel For which I am gratefull And they deserve better than Ebay .

1 star for speed of delivery, rest terrible.

1 star for speed of delivery. The rest of my experience.....terrible. Purchased a refurbished dyson vacuum from Onbuy.com but these were the sellers. In the advertisement pictures for the product and in the description, it stated that attachments were included. When it arrived, no attachments. When I contacted vacuums direct with my query, I was point blank told I was in the wrong and that I had clearly looked at the advertisement for the brand new unit, I had not. No professionalism, no courtesy, unhelpful, pure rude customer service and I was just told it was my fault and that I shouldn't have expected anything more as it was a reconditioned unit. I decided to return, but they wanted me to pay for return, even though it wasn't as advertised. Not sure how they think they can advertise something one way and then when it doesn't come as advertised they blame the customer. False advertisement is false advertisement. I ended up having to go through Onbuy to get my refund and prepaid label for return.
The response from Onbuy was what you would expect from a company, professional, courteous and helpful. So glad I purchased through onbuy and not direct with the company. They even advertise no hassle returns within 30 days. The whole company is pure false advertisement. Do yourself a favour, avoid and do not buy from vacuums direct, either direct or through another company such as Onbuy or eBay.

Avoid VACUUMS DIRECT on OnBuy!

Firstly, some house cleaning (!) is required for a company using slightly different names. This company is trading under the name "Vacuums Direct" on OnBuy [Giving its company name in the 'About' section as "Vacuum Cleaners Direct Limited" and company number:15367786] and "Vacuums Direct" and "Vacuums Direct UK" on its website. All sharing the same address: Unit 3, Wood Street, Brighouse, West Yorkshire, HD6 1PW. And the currently registered Active Director is Gary Lee DAWSON [not a million miles away from Dyson, ironically!]

Secondly, my complaint, refers to Vacuums Direct [Vacuum Cleaners Direct Ltd] using false advertising in the form of professional manufacturer/factory photos rather than photos of the actual products they are selling. They do this on both the OnBuy platform and their own website, vacuumsdirectuk. However, my complaint refers to my trade with them on the OnBuy platform.

Thirdly, I also hold OnBuy partly responsible for facilitating Vacuums Direct [Vacuum Cleaners Direct Ltd] as a seller on their platform, and therefore I will address the same complaint, described below, to both "OnBuy" and Vacuums Direct [Vacuum Cleaners Direct Ltd] on Trustpilot:

I was looking for a vacuum cleaner and the search engine came up with a very competitively priced "refurbished" Dyson from OnBuy. The vacuum looked immaculate, exactly as new, in the photo, for around £100 less than the average new selling price, although the description seemed to read like small print and say the product may have signs of wear like scratches. That should have been a clue.

The item that I paid for and received bore no resemblance to the item pictured in the listing; the front brush was dented and damaged, the hose pipe was discoloured, the cap on the end of vacuum tube was loose and fell off, the wheels hadn't been oiled and squeeked. So much for "refurbished"!

OnBuy, in fact, was selling "refurbished" vacuums from Vacuums Direct [Vacuum Cleaners Direct Ltd] without requiring the seller to provide images of the ACTUAL vacuum being sold.

THIS IS CLEARLY FALSE AND MISLEADING ADVERTISING, and should be referred to Trading Standards. But it wasn't just my vacuum cleaner.

In fact, ALL the vacuums being sold as "refurbished" by Vacuums Direct [Vacuum Cleaners Direct Ltd] were using professional factory pictures [were these licensed - unlikely - or stolen???] so this wasn't a one off or exception.

While Vacuums Direct [Vacuum Cleaners Direct Ltd] are responsible for providing the misleading photos as the seller, the platform is surely responsible for vetting listings and ensuring customers on the platform are not misled.

However, when I wrote to Customer Support at OnBuy they made no apology for this lack of oversight or seller's deception.

Further, in spite of advertising on the OnBuy website that there is "30 Day Returns Plus purchase protection" on the main page this appears to be a pencil thin promise.

Three days after the vacuum was collected by Vacuums Direct [Vacuum Cleaners Direct Ltd] and I stilll hadn't received a refund in spite of contacting them twice, I emailed OnBuy Customer Support.

Their response was dismal. They replied that they couldn't follow up with the seller until I provided proof of return. I wrote back, how am I supposed to provide proof of return when the vacuum was collected by the company's courier and I was given no booking information? They replied asking me to contact the courier for the booking information and tracking number. I replied I am not even the courier's customer, so why would they provide me with any information? All I was asking for was my money back and they wouldn't even contact the seller!

In summary, how many stars can you give the OnByuy platform and Vacuum Direct that falsely advertises and misleads consumers, makes false guarantees of "buyer protection" and offers zero customer support? Unfortunately, you can't give zero stars so it will have to be one.

AVOID OnBuy and Vacuums Direct [Vacuum Cleaners Direct Ltd] like the plague. I still haven't had my money back. You have been warned.

Update 3-04-26
After complaining here, and repeatedly to OnBuy, I was finally given my money back by Vacuum Cleaners Direct Ltd. However, they are still using factory photos of their vacuum cleaners on OnBuy, their own website and other platforms, instead of photos of the item actually being sold which is very misleading.

Im very disappointed about buying…

Im very disappointed about buying vaccum through groopie from vaccum direct
They delivered faulty item now nearly two weeks im waiting for them to collect everyday they lying about collection noone turned up to collect and now its rediculus
i want them to solve this matter quickly as possible

Revolting pet/bacteria smell when on or off

The second hand Dyson works, but emits that revolting smell of wet pet hair/bacteria. I had to complete dismantle the entire machine, wash and clean everything and replace all the filters. It still stinks, but not so much now. The smell still comes from the unit even when it is in storage. I know the machine is not new, but surely you clean/disinfect them before selling them on?

Do not trust this company placed and…

Do not trust this company placed and order 2 weeks ago and was supplied a tracking number, over 7 days later im not able to get hold of the company my telephone and they have not answered any of the 3 emails sent to them

next stop is to report it as fraud to the credit card company

bought a hoover from this company, it was delivered broken, i returned it and tried to get a refund, they dont want to know, ive sent plenty of emails but they still wont refund me! stay well clear! dont waste your money!

My refurbished dyson stopped holding charge after one month.
No contact number and no response from the contact form I sent over 2 weeks ago. I have just sent another query.

The item delivered was faulty

The item delivered was faulty. Have emailed them and used their own contact form but have had no response. Please be aware. I cannot recommend them at all. Also there is no contact telephone number.

Same as Gemma, don’t touch this company

Same as Gemma, hoover broke down inside 3 months, emailed website with video 3 times, no response. Phoned just answerphone. Contacted Ebay over sellers action, waste of time. Now going through PayPal to hopefully get refund. Wish wife had read these reviews before asking me to order.
Odd that EBay now shows seller since 22 December 2023, as if re-registered as way of not honouring warranty.

Broken refurbished vacuum

I bought a refurbished vacuum with a 1 yr warranty. It broke after 3 months and I have not heard anything from them at all. Complete sham and terrible company - DO NOT USE!!!!

Vacuum shipped with cheap adapter! Then melted!

Purchased a vacuum that shipped with a non-standard power adapter, the device stopped working and has melted the battery connector. They do not reply to ebay or direct emails. This could have burned my house down. Not even willing to discuss. AVOID these crooks.

Just ordered something and I’m already…

Just ordered something and I’m already in a panic. I need a Hoover urgently, I went to a website that provided a next day service. After ordering it, the page said I could sign up at the end of the order so I went through all the order, paid and there was no where to register, I went to a separate page and tried to register, it said I was already registered. I then tried to log in unsuccessfully, I then tried to reset my password, it said it had sent me a link to reset, nothing, no confirmation email no password reset. Just the money taken from my account. Extremely frustrated

Great, refurbished product, very happy.

Very happy with my recent purchase, ordered a refurbished Sebo X4; it took about a week to arrive, but was very well packaged, with all accessories and in great condition. Even a freshener in there! Very happy with my experience from Vacuums Direct UK, very happy with the product so far. Can also recommend the Sebo X4, what a difference to our previous Vacs!
