I was contacted in late June 2026…

I was contacted in late June 2026 regarding a manufacturer safety recall for my Vauxhall Grandland due to the potential premature wear of the camshaft drive chain. The recall letter states that, in the worst case, the chain could break, and advises that the inspection should take around one hour, or up to six hours if the chain requires replacement. Reading this was understandably concerning.

After receiving the recall notice, I telephoned the Vertu dealership previously Bristol Street Motors and also sent an email to the Service Manager to arrange the repair. I explained that I did not feel comfortable driving a vehicle that was subject to a manufacturer safety recall and asked whether the vehicle could be collected.

I was disappointed to be told that I would need to pay a £60 collection and return charge, despite living only a few miles from the dealership. As this relates to an official safety recall, I had expected the process to be carried out without any additional cost to the customer.

What disappointed me most was the response I received when I explained my concerns. Rather than recognising why a customer might be reluctant to drive a vehicle that has been recalled for a potentially serious defect, the impression I was left with was that the choice was simply to pay the collection fee or not have the work carried out.

Having leased Vauxhall vehicles for around 20 years, I expected a more customer-focused approach. Safety recalls are issued to protect customers, and I do not believe owners should feel they have to choose between paying extra to have a recalled vehicle collected or driving a vehicle they no longer feel is safe.

I hope Vauxhall and its dealerships review their approach to collection charges for manufacturer safety recalls, as this would provide greater reassurance and encourage customers to have important safety work completed promptly.

My car is just under 3 years old less than 8000 on the clock and requires a ECU replacement shouldn't happen on a car this age nor milage it's currently still in the garage coming up to 6 weeks now because they are waiting for the technical team in another country to get back to them I'm the one calling them to find out what is happening every week. I'm currently paying for this car monthly which I don't have and the customer service is rubbish I will be getting in contact with the motor ombudsman next

Vauxhall and Stellantis abusing UK consumer rights legislation

Vauxhall and Stellantis abusing UK consumer rights legislation 2015.

My Daughter purchased a grand new Vauxhall Frontera from a main dealer in Camberley the vehicle broke down within 2 weeks of delivery and only one week of usage as we had gone on holiday as soon as she had taken delivery.
My daughter has a 12 month old baby and car just stopped mid way while she was trying to join a busy main road at the endbof her home address the car would not restart and was completely dead with and Engine Management light on. We recovered the vehicle to her house and phoned the main dealer service department they said hat they were unable to recover the vehicle to the garage and that they would not be able ho look at it for 4 days time , the coming Thursday snd the indicated that they could not provide a loan car or hire car. They were informed and award that my daughter has a 12 month year old child and that they were leaving her with no car got at least 4 days.
On the Wednesday tte day before the garage had booked the car in for repair thesis dealer service phoned my daughter and cancelled the repair appointment, they stated that they would not be able diagnose and repair the vehicle because they were not equipped with the required equipment and knowledge to effect a repair so they were leaving my daughter with a grand new car that was broken.
We phoned vauxhall customer services to complain and a representative called Nika was enlightened on the situation. He promised to investigate and get back to my daughter in 5 days time !!!!. I them made him aware that they would be leaving a mother and baby with no transport gor a further 5 days he promised to arrange a hire car or loan car and get back to me with a few hours. He never did.
The next day we decided to make a complaint to the main dealer who we purchased from. The sales manager was very concerned that he had not been informed of the breakdown and problems with the service dept refusing to attempt a repair and making a new car customer with child wait 4 days and then cancel the repair appointment. With his guidance we used the RAC to recover the car back to the main dealer for repair. Unfortunately somebody in the service dept or other told the Recovery driver not ho being the car to the main dealer for the repair as the were unable to fix the problem which they had somehow diagnosed as a ECU sensors and software issue. The RAC Recovery driver then went to at least two other vauxhall repair centers and finally ended up at a center that said they were sbke ho attempt repair. After 2 days the vehicle was reported as fixed and we were told that a New ECU, BCM, gearbox shifter sensors and software was replaced. The car was then delivered back to my daughter's home address and the keys posted through her letterbox. We were informed by the sales manager that the car was repaired.
Upon the next time my Daughter attempted to drive the vehicle with her child in the back the car broke down again with and Engine management fault the same as tge first time. This time the vehicle was recoverd back to thd main dealer and my daughter formally rejected the vehicle and the sales manager at the dealership was fully behind the rejection of the vehicle. That was on the 10th of June 2026 it is now the 14th July 2026, over a month and Vauxhall Stellantis and it's finance company has not refunded the approx over £4000.00 back to my daughter. They are stating that they are working on it and that it is being was to different departments but they have failed to refund within the 14 days which is quoted as being a reasonable time according to the UK Consumer rights legislation 2015. In the near on 7 weeks since taking delivery of the vehicle my daughter and her baby have been left with no car for at least 6 weeks.
I intend to advise my daught to complain to the Motor Ombudsman and the Financial Services Ombudsman, Not only for the refund but also now for compensation and loss of interest of the money that Vauxhall stellantis withholding illegally from my daughter.
I have been a repeat vauxhall customer for over 25 years and have purchased at least 20 or more new vehicles within that time. I even encouraged my son and daughter to buy new vauxhall cars, my daughter in fact on her sixth vauxhall car with the purchase of the vauxhall Frontera Hybrid which has turned out to be worst car we have ever had.
Because of the treatment of my daughter by Vauxhall stellantis I will no longer purchase any new vauxhall or stellantis cars.

I visited the Vauxhall Chingford branch…

I visited the Vauxhall Chingford branch for a scheduled appointment to have an airbag installed. When I arrived, I was told there would be a 45-minute delay. As I had made an appointment and needed to be somewhere else later, I explained my situation to Nick.

Nick listened to my concerns, understood my time constraints, and escalated the issue. Thanks to his excellent customer service, my car was taken in promptly, and the airbag was installed efficiently.

Nick provided outstanding customer service, and he is a real credit to the Chingford branch. After reading some of the negative reviews about Vauxhall, I believe other staff across the company could learn a lot from Nick's professionalism, communication, and commitment to looking after customers.

Thank you, Nick, for turning what could have been a frustrating experience into a very positive one.

Extremely disappointing customer service from Vauxhall Customer Care

I am extremely disappointed with how my complaint has been handled by Vauxhall Customer Care.

My complaint related to a Vehicle Health Check carried out by an authorised Vauxhall dealership, where the timing belt was marked green, indicating that no attention was required. A few months later, I was told the timing belt urgently needed replacing at a cost of £1,332.98

When I contacted Vauxhall Customer Care, my case was handled by George, who rejected my complaint by stating that the service schedule specifies when the timing belt should be replaced and that I should have asked about it myself.

In my opinion, this completely misses the point. The purpose of a professional Vehicle Health Check is to identify items that require attention. If the timing belt was already due for replacement, why was it marked as green instead of advising me at the time? I relied on the inspection carried out by trained technicians.

I also felt that the documents and evidence I submitted, including the health check and service records, were not properly considered before my complaint was dismissed.

The matter has now been escalated to the Head of Business and referred to the Motor Ombudsman. I hope Vauxhall will now carry out a thorough and fair review of the evidence.

As a loyal customer, I expected much better from Vauxhall Customer Care.

AVOID at all cost

I have been foolished by one of the seller team member.... I asked if the car I bought had included Sat Nav and reverse camera, bear in mind I'm a driving instructor and those features were really usuful for my lessons to the pupils. I've been informed that both of the features I asked for will be included in the car model I purchased. I ONLY found out that none of them where included when I collected the car. I had multiple conversation with the person who sold me the car and he just apologised and told couldn't do anything. I wanted to raise a complaint with the relevant team and they told me they couldn't have helped me because I had no physical proofs, emails or letters, to help my case. I just visited the dealer multiple times and spoken to the same person face to face and, because of that, I have now a car I didn't want.... VERY VERY disappointed and I'll never buy a car there and I definitely not recommend too... They just lost a client, who paid his car in full, for maybe a matter of £500...... Disgusted

Cannot Trust This Company.

Firstly I’m not surprised at the overall rating.
I purchased a vehicle from my local dealer in 2023 - me being completely unaware the vehicle had a “wetbelt” and not once told when purchasing this vehicle it would need to be changed in 2024.

My local dealer who I purchased this vehicle from told me initially £1,500.00 for repair (the car has done 40k miles, 15k in my ownership)

I reached out to customer service to see if there was any sort of warranty due to the low miles on the vehicle and spoke to two separate operatives that told me it had “special warranty” on the wetbelt after giving my reg and my vehicle information.

Misleading from the start as this was a complete lie to get me off the phone, customer service after a long process of needing every bit of information relating to my service history actually offered to step in and help out of “goodwill” when what is strange about this is I was CC’d into the email from the dealer to customer service showing that quote for repair of the Wetbelt only being £997 when I had been quoted £1,500.00- then I revive my good will quote which was 50% off and it came to
the total of £879?? Which would be £1,758

I appreciate the goodwill gesture, but the lack of trust from the constant changing in prices makes me feel like I cannot trust anyone from this company, no questions are directly answered and avoided and it’s always the other person and not them.

I will NEVER buy a Vauxhal again, this was my third car and was planning on another next year but no way will I do that now due to this terrible service.

Our Mokka-E is 4 years old

Our Mokka-E is 4 years old, £35k new (now worth barely 10) thousands spent on only Vauxhall Servicing and they have quoted £1000 for a new camera which will "HOPEFULLY" fix the fault. They don't know if it will or wont?! Its a Vauxhall, they are Vauxhall. Why would I ever pay £1000 with no idea if it will fix it.

I spoke both to bookings and the branch directly who told me I wouldn't have to pay, when I arrived they informed me that whoever had told me that (their colleagues) was wrong and I would have to pay £168 for an hours diagnosis.

Electric Mokka

I've recently purchased an electric Mokka from Evans Helshaw in Gateshead. The customer service I received from salesman Dave Williams was great. Highly recommend asking for Dave if your thinking of purchasing a vehicle from them. Everything went smoothly, not pressurised, helpful, friendly and approachable. Thanks again Dave 😁

Poor customer care - Vauxhall

I purchased a used Vauxhall Corsa EV from a dealer in 2024. Around 1 year later faults started to appear stating "Electric Traction System Fault" making the car undrivable for short periods initially then progressed to periods latest several hours. I took the car to a Vauxhall dealer and it the fault was reset - this happened several times. More recently the fault has become much worse and the car has had to have major repairs so far at a cost of over £3,000 and the fault has still not been resolved. Over the last year I have been in contact with customer care to try to reach a solution in resolving this problem or offering compensation for what appears to be an inherent fault which may be related to poor design/manufacturing fault. Vauxhall Customer Care have been very poor in communicating with me responding to my concerns and discussing a reasonable solution such as compensation - money towards repair costs - recalling the car offering replacement car. I expected better from a major car manufacturer. This experience has been stressful and traumatic for me and my family and could be resolved easily at a small cost for a wealthy multinational car company interested in providing meaningful customer care to enhance their reputation and offer reasonable solutions to customers buying their cars expecting them to be fit for the intended purpose.

Vauxhall recall

Good evening,
I am currently putting together a case against Vauxhall regarding their failure to correctly diagnose that my vehicle was fitted with a 7mm timing chain rather than an 8mm timing chain.
Following an inspection, Vauxhall listened to the engine and determined that the recall work was not required on my vehicle. However, just six months later, the timing chain failed, resulting in thousands of pounds worth of damage to the engine.
The vehicle was recovered by the RAC and taken to an independent garage, where an investigation was carried out. After stripping down the engine to identify the cause of the failure, the garage discovered a broken 7mm timing chain. This clearly demonstrates that Vauxhall's testing procedure was ineffective and failed to identify that my vehicle was affected by the recall and required the necessary remedial work.
The independent garage proceeded to repair the vehicle, and I subsequently contacted Vauxhall to inform them of the repair costs and the circumstances surrounding the failure. I explained that my vehicle was fitted with the incorrect chain, which should have been replaced under the recall programme, and that the significant repair costs could have been avoided had the recall been carried out correctly.
Despite this, Vauxhall has refused to acknowledge any failings on their part and is unwilling to contribute towards the repair costs, citing the fact that the repairs were completed by an independent garage.
I am writing this to gather accounts from other individuals who may have experienced similar issues with Vauxhall. My aim is to strengthen my case by demonstrating a pattern of similar experiences and highlighting what I believe to be shortcomings in both their diagnostic procedures and customer support processes. In my experience, their customer support structure appears to be designed primarily to protect the company rather than to assist customers who have been adversely affected by their actions or omissions.
Any information or experiences that others are willing to share would be greatly appreciated.

Worst customer service ever!

If I could give minus stars i would! This is the worst customer service i have ever experienced.I am still waiting for any response from them regarding a complaint o made on 13 April nearly 2 months ago despite several follow up emails from myself.Original email as follows-

Vauxhall Frontera electric
YR26 ECY

I picked up my new car on3/3/26 as a 2 year lease deal.On 9/04/26 the car failed to start.I called Vauxhall assistance who put me through to the RAC who said no policy was found so I had to start a policy myself to get the car restarted. It was a battery issue.2 days later same problem but RAC could not start the car.2 days after that they were able to recover the vehicle on a truck to your chesterfield branch.I spent several frustrated phone calls and hours trying to get help from Vauxhall but no luck.Just a wild goose chase to branches in Chingford and Newcastle!
I was told on the phone my car couldn’t be looked at till the 17/04/26 and no courtesy car was available. After eventually speaking to Chesterfield Vauxhall they said they would look at the car the next day. A courtesy car was given but i was told this time it was free!So it should be when i am paying considerable amount of money each month for a defective Car.Iwas also advised to pay £20 for insurance or face an excess of £500 if a had an accident.Absolute insult. No one has reimbursed me for the RAC and the taxis to work.Iam out of pocket and very upset the way I have been treated by this company. Picking up the car again today met by very sheepish staff and no apology. They couldn’t even clean my car with bird poo all over the bonnet. At first I as was very happy when buying the car and thought in 2 years time i would like to upgrade to the Grandland but how can I trust this brand now? Also I have not received my £500 charging credit as promised. My family have had various Vauxhall cars over the years as it is a brand you can trust but now that has all gone.I just hate the sight of this car.Every time I get in it i just feel sad and would gladly give back! I hope someone gets back to me with a genuine apology not a robotic AI call centre one.

This is about the MyVauxhall account…

This is about the MyVauxhall account system. It’s taken me 3 days of waiting so far just to get a verification link, if Vauxhall can’t cope with and carry out such a basic requirement it makes you wonder how on earth they'll behave when it comes to any problems that arise with their vehicles. For Gods sake Vauxhall will you please sort your systems out!

Absolutely Abysmal experience

Absolutely Abysmal experience

Bought a brand new car in September 2025, and had a faulty part within the week.

I have raised a complaint with Vauxhall customer care and this has not been responded to over 2 months later (past the FCA 8 week mandatory SLA).

Clutch Fault - Customer Service Agent Laughed

Clutch sticking while driving on 2017 Astra with less than 50k miles.

Called customer service as this is a well known issue with Astra's and the agent was just laughing during the entire call and then denied it when I pulled him up on it. Absolutely shocked with that level of customer service, especially as I'm calling about a well known fault that almost caused me to crash while driving on the motorway with my family as I couldn't change gear.

Waiting for some kind of resolution but my hopes are small from reading the other 1*reviews.
