About Vets Now
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

They saw my dog quickly and were very polite. As you would expect its extortionate for out of hours treatment consultation fees, theres no getting around that. I would say I am a little dissapointed in the treatment plan for my dog. Dog was brought in with bleeding tail, was bandaged and sent on its way. Bandage came off and unable to stem the bleeding with it spurting out and back to vets the next day. My vet said he saw exposed bone and it wouldnt shut without a small amputation and stitches. Yet this was not explained and I was advised it would heel. Advice seems a little inaccurate. But as I said they were polite and saw my dog quickly.

Excellent vets during an upsetting time
Our rabbit got very unwell very quickly Sunday night. We used the online service and spoke to a vet who gave us advice on how to few him, and the steps to take after. We ended up having to take him to the vets at Bitterne, and they were helpful and sympathetic. I’m heartbroken to say our Thumper didn’t survive, but I do believe the vets tried their upmost and seemed genuinely saddened he passed. They communicated with us throughout and I cannot fault their service or behaviour during a very difficult and stressful time. I felt very much that these vets are there because they want to help animals, and not for any money. While I hope to never need this service again I will remember the care they showed us and Thumper.

Vets Now - great service
Had to visit Vets Now Southampton as my cocker spaniel was stung by a wasp out for a walk and went into shock. Phoned and was told strongly advise to visit in person so did so. The care was excellent and everyone made us feel valued. Angelika could not have been kinder and managed to remove the sting and calm him down. The joy on his face when he realised he could walk without pain again was worth the cost on its own.

When an animal you love gets sick
When an animal you love gets sick, you need someone to help hold your panic and then pain...
I contacted Vets Now and was able to see them on the same day, on the phone they were great at understanding the sheer panic, confusion I had and were flexible with when I could visit.
Sadly, I did have to leave the vets without my beautiful pet and the woman at the desk asked I wanted some pawprints taken BUT here's where they win the five stars...
a few days later, I received his beautiful pawprints in a card along with a keyring containing some of his fur... I wish I'd thought of doing that before, it was beautiful and honestly made me feel close to my baby again. It warmed my heart which had been a hard thing to do since I'd visited. It also contained seeds for forget-me-not flowers and this kind of thought is what helps someone get through grief.
When there is NHS for humans, there is Vets now for animals and making those hard journeys easier, stress-free and affordable. Thank you for caring about me, my grief and allowing me to keep part of my boy with me forever.
