Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

I’ve had cause to visit Vets Now twice in recent months and while I can’t fault the care, the prices charged are scandalous and can’t be justified. I realise it’s out of hours, but there’s no way that the costs of operating out of hours can be justified with the prices charged. £250 maybe more before you walk through the door. It’s bad enough if you’re insured, god help you if you’re not and your pet needs urgent care

Far too expensive for an out of hours appointment £470 for injection & two courses of tablets.

Such a compassionate team. Lulu would not be here without them. Can’t thank them enough.

I cannot fault VN. My dog needed two nights in their care due to complex recent surgeries.
The staff were great, explained everything to me when I called and when I picked her up the following day. They let my partner see her after he drove back from Lancashire to see her at 11pm.
An invoice came through straight away and is thoroughly detailed.
It is very expensive but you are paying for an out of hours service. I was worried after reading lots of negative reviews but I cannot praise them enough.

Very quick and friendly response but horribly expensive due to the bank holiday. Original advice was good and solved immediate issue but he gave opposite advice from my normal vet for on-going care and would have had us put the dog through extensive and unnecessary surgery and another £2k bill where our vet advised a "wait and see" approach which has been successful.
My vet is still waiting for the promised X-rays 3 days later.

Accept the long wait on a bh and vets etc worked really hard. However, the pricing of drugs and their administration to our pet was excessive on top of consultation charge.

Where shall I start, no staff, shocking charges way above average prices for emergency vets, not enough chairs , people sitting on floors the staff there were trying so hard but simply not enough staff!

They could tell we were first time dog owners and did everything they could to give us comfort and advice even when the practice was extremely busy! We’re very thankful!

When we finally got to see the vet she was very caring and efficient, but the wait was too long for an emergency service nearly two hours only one vet on and they were very busy.In saying that our dog was very well looked after when we did get to see the vet and we were very happy with the quality of care given.

We can came in as an emergency due to an post op neutering complication. Jess was seen promptly and after a triage it was advised that she was to stay in. I was informed at every stage what was going on, the price and given advice. The internal bleed was found and stopped. I was able to call for an update and was given a time to collect her. A horrible experience for her and me but I was reassured at all times.

Everyone was really pleasant and professional from reception to the vets.

Arrived as emergency and the vet was in a heated discussion with other customers.
Our dog was very poorly unable to stand but the vet was more interested in her having a small piece of stool on her backside and when her teeth had last been cleaned which was just over 12 months ago and no relation to situation.
Treated our dog with a pain killer & steroid.
Visited our own vet first thing next morning and sadly our lovely dog had to be put to sleep after being diagnosed with spinal problem. Would not use Vets Now again.

Only in rip off Britain would we allow a firm to take over all the out of hours services of every vet in an huge area and charge these extortionate prices. They should be investigated for anti competition practices (I am reporting them today) as there are zero alternatives in our area now hence the ability to charge these prices.
