The flight was very satisfying

I flew from Ho Chi Minh City to Quy Nhon on July 18. My scheduled departure time was 5:30 a.m. Once all the passengers had boarded the plane, the flight departed earlier than scheduled, which I really appreciated. Arriving earlier gave me more time to take care of my work.

In addition, the customer service representative was very friendly, professional, and welcoming. She greeted passengers with a beautiful smile, which made the experience even more pleasant.

Thank you for the excellent service your company provides to its customers. I was very satisfied with my flight and look forward to flying with your airline again.

This airline sucks. DO NOT FLY with them.

This airline sucks 0 stars.

Never fly it. I hope it goes bankrupt.

While checkin they had already weighed my hand luggage which was at 6 kgs. I bought a bunch of stuff at the airport and they started weighing my bags at boarding again. It came out to be 8kgs and now they won't let me board because of 1 kg extra. I could have easily checked in my bag at checkin.

The staff was rude and didn't speak english. Hate Veitjet and my respect for Vietnam is reduced because of them.

Horrible airline

Horrible airline. Always delayed. Ground staff are extremely rude and indifferent to passengers waiting for hours. Save your time and money, book someone else!

Very disappointing experience with…

Very disappointing experience with VietJet. Our checked baggage did not arrive at the destination, and the same issue affected all passengers on our flight. We had to wait for a long time with no clear communication or updates from the airline. Losing or delaying baggage causes major inconvenience, especially for international travelers. I hope the airline improves its baggage handling system and keeps passengers better informed to prevent this from happening again.

Poor service. Suspected scam tactics.

I have had 3 flights with VietJet as part of my honeymoon. They have consistently failed to maintain a flight schedule, to the extent where I have arrived at the airport for them to have moved my flight by nearly 4 hours without any notice given. Their customer help desk within airports are served by incompetent and rude assistants, with no power to make changes that would have helped. I believe they intentionally change flight times on short notice as part of scam tactics to pressure their customers into unnecessary upgrades and paid changes. They are a poor airline with ineffective processes and employees and I urge anyone to consider their competitors before booking

I am amazed they score as high as 1.4

I am amazed they score as high as 1.4, who could possibly have given more than 1⭐️?
Their website is ludicrous , their app is unusable, almost impossible to get information they just want to find ways to charge you for what you already have.
All our flights were delayed by at least an hour.
These guys make Ryanair look good.

Worst airline experience I've ever had

I flew on **VietJet flight VJ809 on 17 July 2026**, and this was by far the worst airline experience I have ever had.

My cabin baggage exceeded the 7 kg allowance by only **800 grams**, yet I was forced to purchase an additional **20 kg checked baggage allowance**. Simply allowing me to carry my laptop separately would have brought my bag within the limit, but there was absolutely no flexibility or common sense.

The check-in agent at **Desk G7** (around **7:00 AM**) was extremely rude and unprofessional. What shocked me the most was that they **used a personal mobile phone to photograph my passport** without asking for my permission or explaining why. My personal details were then communicated to the gate staff, who again **used a personal mobile phone to photograph my passport**, made me weigh my backpack again, and threatened that the aircraft would depart without me if I did not comply immediately.

To make matters worse, online check-in was not available for this flight, forcing me to arrive at the airport three hours early. The information about how early passengers must arrive for check-in is inconsistent between VietJet's website and the information displayed at the airport, creating unnecessary confusion.

Finally, I was very surprised that at an international airport like Ho Chi Minh City, none of the staff I interacted with could communicate effectively in English, making an already stressful situation even worse.

I understand that airlines have baggage policies and security procedures. However, there is no excuse for rude behaviour, poor communication, and using what appeared to be personal mobile phones to photograph passengers' passports without any explanation.

I will never fly with VietJet again and strongly advise anyone considering this airline to think twice.

The episode where you get LESS than you paid for

Pros:
- We got there
- We had food on the flight
- Staff were friendly
- The tickets were cheap

Neutral:
- Very interesting promotional songs that get stuck in your head (check out the music videos, my husband and I got a laugh out of them).

Cons:
- App is completely unusable
- Website mostly unusable other than for booking the flight
- Need to find a link on booking confirmation to check in, any other attempt to check in via the website will fail
- The day before our flight the website "couldn't find" our booking reference for me to check in online with after our flight time was changed. We had to google around to find out that after a change, the website will not update and you have to check in in person. The website itself just said "Error".
- Odd flight times and awkward layovers
- Food was pretty sad (and I love airplane food normally). We had the same meal of glass noodles with one tiny shrimp the size of my thumbnail and a drizzle of sauce about 3x.
- Beware: The basic economy ticket does not get ANY food, not even a packet of nuts on an INTERNATIONAL flight. I have never seen this before.
- 8+ hour international flight had no screens and no charging port for phones. You are also forbidden from using a portable charging bank
- We were not permitted to bring water on the 8+ hour flight and were only given one small water bottle. Any more we were asked to pay for.
- There was no blanket or any kind of amenities on the 8 hour flight for economy class.

Most egregiously, the airlines internal communication systems seems completely ineffective at updating passenger info. What do I mean by this? Let me tell you my story....

On the 14th at the check-in counter, the staff member offered us a seat change for our flight on the 15th (VJ83). We accepted
Then on the 15th (almost 24 hours later), because we had changed our seat, the staff at the boarding gate pulled us out of line and weighed our carry on bags. Because we purchased deluxe economy tickets, we should have had 10kg each to carry on + a 2kg personal item. Our combined bags weighed exactly 24 kg total, right within our limit. But because our seat had changed and VietJet checks seat number to determine perks, she thought we only had 7kg each carry on weight and charged us extra to gate check a bag. We didn't understand why this was happening or how the staff weren't updated even though the seat change happened over 12 hours prior to our flight.

Then on the flight the same issue appeared again. The Cabin Crew thought we should not get food, even though we paid extra when we booked our ticket to get food. (This was because our seat had been changed and he was using a 1 meter long PAPER printout with microscopic type to find seat number and names and confirm who gets what.... surely in 2026 they could afford a tablet that auto-updates???) We had to explain to the Cabin Crew and show them our booking reservation to be able to get food (I was lucky I had it downloaded on my phone). He almost didn't believe us.

TL;DR - If I was to fly VietJet again (unlikely), I would print out every kind of confirmation documentation including proof of any extras purchased and prepare a water-tight defense for any circumstances where the staff try to tell me I don't get something I paid for. I would also book better than economy to avoid questions about how much water I am allowed to have and whether I can be fed or not. Regardless, I would bring my own food on the flight.

Pathetic Services.

Pathetic Services.

Pathetic staff behaviour. On even 500 GM of excess cabin baggage, they will make you to not board the flight.

All duty free stuff are being weighed on each gate.

Worst ever experience.

*** DO NOT USE VIETJETAIR! YOU'RE NOT GOING TO SAVE $, YOU'RE GOING TO END UP PAYING MORE!

VIETJETAIR canceled my original flight. When I wanted a refund, they were reluctant to provide and rescheduled my flight resulting in an extra night at my layover designation. When I requested compensation, they refused. Additionally, they weigh EVERYTHING - including your purse and charge you extra! DO NOT USE VIETJETAIR! Counter Agent TROUNG NGUYEN BAO TRAN (VJC 16390) is rude and ignorant.

Long luggage weights even after long delayed flights

This airline must be the worst on the planet, and I've been to 60 countries. Flights are late 80% of the time. You can wait for your baggage an hour and a half after a huge delay of your flight. So it's bad enough your flight is several hours late, when you arrive extremely tired you can wait for your baggage for well over an hour. They just don't seem to have the staff or then you will to do anything good for their customers. Fly Vietnam Airlines if you can.

Truth and why not use it

Here is a harsh, clear, and legally accurate review ready for Trustpilot, Google Reviews, or TripAdvisor. It calls them out directly for the surname glitch and the extortion tactic at immigration.
### 🔴 One-Star Review: Total Extortion and Scam Tactics – Avoid Vietjet Air
DO NOT FLY VIETJET AIR. This is easily the most unethical, deceptive, and poorly managed airline operating today. They will exploit technical glitches on their own website to squeeze money out of you, and they will openly violate international and local laws if they think they can bully a passenger.
Two major reasons why you should never trust this airline:
1. **The Name-Change Fee Scam:**
Their booking website is completely broken for anyone with a standard Spanish double surname. The system physically refused to let me input my second surname during booking. Instead of acknowledging their own website's limitations, their ground staff forced me to pay an exorbitant, ridiculous "name change fee" just to get my boarding pass. It is an absolute scam to penalize passengers financially for a glitch in their own software.
2. **Illegal Pressure Tactics at Immigration:**
I experienced a situation where I was refused entry at a Thai airport. Under Section 55 of the Thai Immigration Act and standard international aviation regulations, the airline that brings you into the country is legally and financially responsible for the cost of your removal flight. Vietjet knows this, but instead of complying with the law, their staff lied directly to my face and tried to extort me into paying for a last-minute ticket out of pocket. They actively try to intimidate stranded passengers in holding areas, hoping you will panic and bail them out of their legal financial obligations.
They do not care about customer service, and they do not care about government regulations. Save yourself the hidden fees, the stress, and the absolute nightmare. Avoid Vietjet at all costs.

Bad services

I purchased a SkyBoss ticket, but my seat was broken (it wouldn't recline). Although I asked the flight attendants to fix it, they were unable to do so and told me to move to the last row of the Economy section—even though there were still plenty of empty seats in Business Class. Ideally, staff should inspect all seats before selling tickets and avoid selling any that are defective. Since this issue was the airline's fault rather than the passenger's, they should have offered compensation or upgraded me to a better seat as an apology; instead, I was downgraded to an inferior seat, despite having paid for a premium SkyBoss ticket rather than a low-cost Economy fare.

Charged twice for baggage, inconsistent rules and terrible customer service

Extremely disappointing experience with VietJet Air.

We travelled from Da Nang to Bali via Ho Chi Minh City under the same booking. VietJet did not allow us to check in online, which also meant we were unable to manage our booking and increase our baggage allowance in advance.

At Da Nang Airport, we paid approximately £11 for a baggage upgrade. Our luggage, including our carry-on baggage, was seen and accepted by VietJet staff, and we were allowed to board.

Our flight from Da Nang was then delayed from 23:40 until approximately 00:50, meaning we arrived at Ho Chi Minh City much later than planned. This removed any realistic opportunity to leave the airport and rest at a nearby hotel before our onward flight. We approached the VietJet desk at approximately 2am for assistance and were simply told to "come back at 4am". We were left sitting in the airport overnight with no sleep and virtually no support.

When the check-in desk finally opened, we were then charged a further £45 for our carry-on luggage — the same luggage that had already been seen and accepted by VietJet staff at Da Nang Airport as part of the same journey.

The staff member who dealt with us at Ho Chi Minh City, Xuan Hieu, was rude, unpleasant and unprofessional. Most surprisingly, she openly criticised the staff at Da Nang Airport and said she did not understand why there were no standard rules consistently followed across different airports.

This says everything about our experience. Why should passengers have to pay the financial price for VietJet's own internal inconsistencies?

In total, we were charged £56 in baggage fees after being prevented from checking in online, subjected to different standards at two airports on the same booking, delayed, left without sleep or meaningful assistance, and treated poorly by staff.

I have formally requested a full refund of the £56 and an investigation into the inconsistent baggage rules and the conduct of the staff member involved.

Based on this experience, I would not recommend VietJet Air. The lack of consistency, poor customer service and unfair additional charges made an already exhausting journey significantly worse.

Horrible customer service!!

Horrible customer service!!! 😡😡😡 I went to refund my trip from Brisbane to Ho Chi Minh, where the refund fee was already a gargantuan $320 fee, but they scammed me out of $27 that they were also supposed to refund me. I went back and forth over email, sending over 10 emails where they kept insisting I was wrong about the exchange rate with NO PROOF OR SCREENSHOT OF THE REFUND IN THE SYSTEM. My flight is also 7 hours delayed! No coupon or anything to compensate GREEDY COMPANY. DO NOT FLY EVER.
