the wifi throughout the year is fine but the cancellation process is criminal. virgin media fix yourself. absolute joke. overall it took me two hours to cancel my contract which shouldn’t have renewed anyways and an hour and a half of that was spent in the online chat waiting ten minutes for a single reply each time, i called first and was on hold for half an hour before they hung up without answering. i started the process at the beginning of my break at work and then had to juggle trying to continue cancelling it as i was working because it took so long. do not recommend look elsewhere for wifi. the vm people coming to the door are also incredibly annoying.

Abhorrent company, should be closed down immediately. Original bill was £35 per month then out of nowhere shot up to £90 without any warning. They took 2 months worth of that payment and then I cancelled the policy. They didn't register my cancellation and despite not using the service for another 2 months they're trying to get 2 more months payment of us.
Initially cancelling this policy in May and in doing so spent literally hours waiting on the phone to speak eventually speak to someone that passes you onto someone else to be yet again thrown about all the departments to be completely lost in translation and hung up on. Anyone looking to get a network setup, avoid this company like your life depends on it.

I've had no Virgin Media telly or internet for 16 days. Virgin Media are saying there's been an area outage and have given dates when it'll be fixed. The dates keep moving. It was supposed to fixed days ago, then I was told today but on checking it's been moved another nine days. That's almost a month without telly or internet. The dates could move again. I work from home. This is unacceptable. I've been told I'll have compensation but how do they compensate for inconvenience, paying more for data and not being able to work? Don't get Virgin Media! UPDATE from me 7 August 2026 - All the people I know in my area with Virgin Media say they have a full service but VM won't listen when I ask for a technician to come to my home, they say they can't send someone to a house while there's work ongoing to fix a local area outage. I'm not convinced there's an area outage if I'm hearing from others they have no problem. That means I have no option to be without internet at least for the next week. No doubt the fix date will move again like it already has a few times. I asked VM to open a complaint for me the other day but have since found that they closed the complaint immediately, when I insisted it remain open till this is resolved! And the complaint was filed under a billing issue - I never raised with the VM rep, my complaint was about no service for almost a month! So the record of my complaint was falsified.

I don’t usually leave reviews but i wanted to share my experience.
My broadband was installed on 28 February 2026 and from the very beginning i experienced frequent dropouts, unstable connections and poor reliability. Over the following months i had numerous engineer visits made many calls to customer services and sent several emails trying to get the issue resolved.
Multiple engineers identified an external cable fault yet the problem remained unresolved for months. One repair was even incorrectly marked as completed when no repair had actually taken place. I also experienced a missed engineer appointment and poor communication throughout the complaints process.
After exhausting every avenue with Virgin Media i escalated my complaint to CISAS the independent communications adjudication service. The adjudicator found that Virgin Media had failed to provide the service with reasonable care and skill and awarded compensation in my favour.
To Virgin Media’s credit they complied with the CISAS decision. They sent me an apology paid the £451.20 compensation, refunds and credit awarded and ultimately allowed me to leave my contract without any early termination fees because the fault still could not be resolved.
While I appreciate that Virgin Media honoured the adjudicator’s decision i should never have had to spend months chasing a fix and taking the matter to independent adjudication just to achieve a fair outcome. I hope they improve their customer service and fault resolution process so that future customers do not have to go through the same experience.

Before reading reviews on trust pilot I signed up for virgin media broadband. I told the girl I spoke to to make the switch that I wanted to go to my previous provider and discuss it with them but was worried about losing the installation date that she was offering me so asked could I cancel if I wanted to stay with my current provider, she said of course but made no mention of the fact that they wouldn't be able to quote me a new price if the switch had already been initiated.
After reading reviews on here, literally less than an hour after setting up the switch, I decided I wasn't happy and wanted to stay with my current provider so called Virgin back. The first person I spoke to was clearly English and based in the UK, when I told her I wanted to cancel she said she was passing me through to someone else who was clearly based offshore. It says a lot about a company when their sales staff are UK based while general customer service and cancellations staff are offshore - paying people less to do the grunt work isn't a good look, virgin.
So this girl told me she couldn't find my account and that it wasn't on the system. She sounded like she didn't care at all and began basically laughing at me when she repeated this. I was baffled because I had received a text and email providing my contract so I should have had an account. Eventually she told me it could take 24 hours for the account to show on the system. I hung up on her as she had terrible manners and clearly didn't want to be there - but that's what you get when you pay staff minimum wage, virgin.
I then tried their online chat because in 2026 it should not take 24 hours for an account to be created. The first person I spoke to couldn't find my account and asked did my old account end in 06 - I've never had an account with virgin before this one. He eventually told me he was passing me to the team who could help me and ignored me when I asked had he found my account. He was just passing me to another staff member because he didn't know what to do.
The next girl did find my account but, funnily, not until I told her I'd be going to the ombudsman if they wouldn't let me cancel. Of course she told me that to cancel I had to phone and after this phonecall it was cancelled. I was told that I would receive an email within 24 hours telling it was cancelled but I am yet to receive this, over 24 hours later, so I complained again. The girl told me she had opened a complaint and sent the email to me, telling me it would confirm the account was cancelled and that there was a link in it that I could click on to read all the details of the complaint - neither of these things were true. When I queried this she ended the chat and left. So just constant lies from virgin staff to get rid of customers that they aren't fully trained to help.
Overall, horrific experience and I wasn't even really a customer!!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Virgin Media Business.
I signed a contract for a Gig1 Business broadband service for my business premises at 11 Silver Street, Bedford.
Initially, I was given an installation date of 14 July. Before the appointment, I was informed that my property required a two-stage installation because it was not yet connected to the Virgin network. My installation was then postponed to 29 July.
Just before the second appointment, I received another email stating that my property might not even be serviceable, despite the fact that I had already signed the contract weeks earlier.
Since then, the experience has been unacceptable.
* Two installation dates have been missed.
* Multiple emails have gone unanswered.
* I waited over 30 minutes on the Business support line without anyone answering.
* Live Chat promised a callback within 2 hours, but nobody ever called.
* I eventually had to submit a formal complaint simply to get someone’s attention.
The most frustrating part is not the delay itself. Infrastructure issues can happen.
The problem is the complete lack of communication and accountability. As a business owner, I simply need a clear answer:
Can you provide the service or not?
Instead, I have spent weeks chasing updates while receiving little or no meaningful communication.
At the time of writing this review, I am still waiting for a proper resolution.
I hope Virgin Media Business will finally take ownership of this case and either provide a confirmed installation date or allow me to cancel the contract without penalty.

Yet another followup ....again my brother in law received yet another letter from virgin media on 22.07.26 alleging he now owes more money .Despite phoning the company:s complaint line I was passed onto through to a company midas's payment, who kept me on the phone with numerous holds during the call for 45 minutes could not resolve the problem
Seems the recent fine from OFCOM of £25,000,000 as had no effect OFCOM and Dept of trade and industry and NCA need to instigate action now!!!Total scam avoid at all cost!!!!
Billed me wrongly when I left moved houses despite providing all necessary information. Took me months before I could get it resolve after it already crashed my credit rating

I've been with Virgin media for over 15 years. The last few years the WiFi has been terrible especially around school holidays. As everything now seems to require a mobile phone app. Virgin network has not kept up to date and constantly does not work.
If you are looking for a broadband/WiFi provider then do not get Virgin

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience with Virgin Media.
I have been without a reliable broadband service for an unacceptable length of time, despite repeatedly reporting the issue and spending countless hours trying to get it resolved. As someone who is self-employed, reliable internet is not a luxury; it is essential to my livelihood.
Because of this prolonged outage, I have had to spend additional money on mobile data simply to stay connected. Even worse, I lost paid work facilitating the Clap Academy AI Summer Camp because I could not rely on my broadband connection, and the work had to be given to someone else. This has resulted in genuine financial loss on top of the stress and inconvenience.
The most disappointing aspect has been the lack of an effective resolution and communication! I am having to chase and still nothing. I have completely lost confidence in Virgin Media and can no longer justify paying for a service that has consistently failed to deliver.
I have now formally requested to leave my contract without penalty, receive a refund for the period I have been without service, be reimbursed for my additional expenses, and be fairly compensated for the financial impact this failure has had on my business.
In this day and age nobody should be left in this situation for a day, talk less off weeks!
I sincerely hope Virgin Media takes this complaint seriously and resolves it promptly, because no customer should be left in this position.

Excellent experience. I know VM often get poor reviews and I wanted to give an honest review following my recent experience. I have been a broadband and landline customer for over a decade and service has always been pretty good with great internet speeds. Recently my Hub 4 router was overheating and the light no longer functioned. Old age I think. It still mainly worked, but had some intermittent faults. I called VM and after a bit of thinking and checking with the manager, the friendly and helpful assistant ordered me a new Hub 5 router and said it would arrive in about 5 working days. 2 days later it arrived! I plugged it all in and after about 10 minutes of it finding the network and updating itself, it is really excellent. Their Virgin Media Connect app is also a really useful tool. I pay for 1 gig broadband as my family and I are big users and love gaming and films, etc. I am measuring about 1150Mbps down and 105Mbps up for hard wired ethernet connections and around 700 and 105 respectively over their WiFi 6. I am delighted with this outcome which I regard as exemplorary customer service. Well done and thank you VM!

Awful, just awful. I am so glad I’m at the end of my contract so I can change. They’re liars, had a dispute on my bill. Changed my package and signed a new deal so they charged me package changing fees which was never mentioned in the original call, phoned to deal with it and they said “they’d remove it and they charged in error”, nope it was still there and then they cut off my internet during the dispute and added a late charge. So many sneaky charges they add on. Booster box, they’ll add a fiver a month on your bill. No one knows anything. They couldn’t pay me to stay with them. As Ofcom don’t deal with individual cases anymore, good luck getting anywhere. DON’T get fooled. Wolf in sheep’s clothing

I been l with virgin media for 15 years and every year it got more expensive while new customers got all the best deals so on my renewal i told them I want the same deal they refused to give me, they told me they can only give it me for 38 pound, on a online chat thats the cheapest deal, then online on my account was 32 pound the cheapest deal and when I phone them they said 29 pound is the cheapest deal, so I left them and joined a new company and a few weeks later they said they can give me for 19 pound 🤣 after I left and joined a new company, who ever is in charge of your sales team they need to be sacked because they are idiots.

I called virgin media yesterday in order to remove the movie channels from my package since the movies are outdated and of no interest to me any longer .I was passed on to a person who said by removing the movies from my package it will be costing me an additinoal £45 but she can transfer me to the retention section since they can reduce the cost . So I was transferred to this other team and they put me on a long hold to look for a package to suit me I was about to cut off the call because I thought I was disconnected but she came back and although I could hear her loud and clear she keep saying are you there sir are you still there and she said she call me back .
She called me back and said she is recording the conversation which I had no problem with and I suspect the reason she had to act that she can't hear me was she wanted to call back so that she can record the conversation.
After all, she said by changing my package it is going to cost an additinoal £80 and if not happy I can be transferred to her manager.
At that point I knew they are not going to do anything and by talking to the manager the cost may increase again. The higher up the chain apparently the cost goes up instead of down.
I asked her to forget about my request I will carry on paying till my contact ends in 14 months time but I will end my services with them for good .
Very disappointed that wasted my time , not surprised that recently they have been fined for frustrating customer when they want to move or make changes .

Would give them zero stars.
There are over 100 people without fibre connection in my area, they have lied to me about when it will be reconnected, and are lying to everyone else about what the problem is.
They even tried to charge me extra for sending an engineer out to fix their outage, which they've actually admitted is their issue to me, but their website says no issues.. No idea when I'll be up and running again.
Scoundrels. The company should be prosecuted

Constant internet drop outs. Internet goes for days or weeks at a time and they dont pay compensation. They wont let you leave you contract early without a huge fee even tho they aint providing what your paying for. With all the problems i asked them to cancel my contract with no fees dues to all the problems. They then did cancel it and put a £375 leaving fee on my account total scum bags. They also wont provide you with a Deadlock letter no matter how many times you ask them. Price goes up every year for a worse service avoid at all cost

Having been with Virgin Media for 30-years since it was NYNEX I have decided to leave them. My contract is up in November and the thought alone of having to negotiate a new contract with the horrendous beyond comprehension customer services gives me chills. Its the absolute stuff of nightmares dealing with them. BT Openreach has just gone live on my street and I've signed a new deal with EE for much much faster speeds of 1.6gb for much much cheaper with no mid contract price rises.

Frustrating. I've been with this company for 30 years and the service has been fine. The problem comes when you have to contact them. I've spent hours over the years trying to deal with a human capable of a conversation. Overpricing and lack of communication are my
reasons for leaving. It seems that they would rather argue that come up with a
solution.
Update. I followed Virgin's advice and rang the number. A robot answered for another run around. Eventually I got through to a person who was just as unhelpful.
Won't recognise me email.
Claims to send a link to that email but does not.
Won't recognise my memorable word.
Ask me to go on virgin media app. I need my email that they don't recognise
A password that they don't recognise.
And a memorable word that they don't recognise to reset.
Catch 22 stupidity!
The helpful number was every bit as unhelpful as any other virgin number. I don't think they deserve a one star. Pathetic.
