Distressing experience and dismissive response
I booked an expensive holiday to Sri Lanka through Voyage Privé and, sadly, what should have been a much-anticipated trip became a deeply upsetting experience.
As a solo Black woman, I experienced treatment at two hotels that left me feeling unwelcome and, at times, invisible. At one hotel, during repeated visits to the restaurant, I was consistently ignored while other guests seated after me were served promptly and courteously. Only after I directly challenged staff did the service immediately improve.
I raised my concerns with Voyage Privé after returning home, hoping for meaningful acknowledgement of how distressing this experience had been. While they apologised, I felt the seriousness of my complaint as a Black traveller was repeatedly minimised and reframed as a simple service issue or procedural matter.
What disappointed me most was not just the original experience, but the lack of genuine understanding shown in handling my complaint. Rather than feeling heard, I felt dismissed all over again.
The final offer of a £50 voucher towards a future booking felt wholly inadequate and did not reflect the seriousness or emotional impact of what I experienced.
I am sharing this review so that other travellers can make informed decisions, particularly those from minority backgrounds who may value knowing how complaints of this nature are handled.

Truly horrible experience
Truly horrible experience. I initially booked a hotel and paid the advertised price. A week later customer service contacted me and told me the hotel does not have the rooms I selected so they downgraded me but refused to issue the refund for the price difference. As it was getting close to me travel dates I accepted the downgraded offer, unfortunately. Four days before my trip, another email from customer service.
The hotel I selected cancelled my booking completely so they offered me an alternative. Quick look at the official website of the new hotel they offered showed that the price for the same rooms is significantly lower vs what I paid already. Voyage Price did not offer a refund for price difference detween what I originally paid and the lower quality hotel they tried to put me in. I asked to cancel the reservation and was told I’ll get my money back in 15 days. My trip is in 4 days now and I have no hotel and it will take 15 days to get my money back, provided they do pay it back. Don’t make the same mistake I made, don’t use this website. They are truly horrible scammers

The hotel was as described, however whilst overall good the rooms blocks were built in the 70’s, whilst they have been updated to an extent, they are quite small.

Great holidays at good prices
Have booked with them on numerous occasions. Good choice of holidays. Reliable. Booking process is easy. You can pay by instalments. Competitive prices. One thing I would say is that the flight times offered within a package are not great. To be able to obtain better flight times comes at an additional cost.

Beautiful, private and calm beach holiday.
Great location, good food quality and very friendly staff. This was our second bookings through Voyage prive and once again it proven a high standard holiday. From the moment we booked, all through the end of journey , the customer service was only a call away. Ill certainly recommend them as their choice of hotels and resort are exceptional.
