Don't buy-zero back up when it doesn't…

Don't buy-zero back up when it doesn't work. You buy the thing in the UK. It turns up says it doesn't back up your photo library on Mac. comes up with a message that it's a format that photos program doesn't support!!!! So the thing is useless. Options:
1) you phone a number which is free if you are in the states or £2 a minute from the UK!!
2) you forget option 1 and spend 15 minutes writing a query press send and it comes up with "internal server error and wipes everything you have written.

I'm now 20 minutes and counting phoning the order line to get a refund without success. Like other reviewers here I'd strongly advise avoiding this bunch as you'll get nowhere

The worst customer service I have ever had.

The worst customer service I have ever spoken with.
Supplied me with a faulty drive and now expecting me to call their technical team at £2 per min call rate which could easily end up costing in excess of £20.
Customer service very rude and hung up half way during the call.
Extremely poor.
Would advise you not to buy from them.

4/04/2019 around 18.03 Uk time I phoned the customer service, I asked for RMA number for return because I was not happy with the product.
Well, she made me stay on the line for over 20min time, she never told
me that I could hanged up after I will receive the email, she played the
music and told to stay on line. After 22min time I realized that I
phoned abroad, I just hanged up the phone. Today I have billed for £27.25 for over 22min for a call to your representative. Not very nice.

I've spent over 3 weeks on this one RMA

I bought a 2TB 2.5" WD Blue drive a while ago. I got a new laptop, so I stopped using it, but I recently needed another drive. I tried it out, but it was damaged (BSODs, read errors, etc), so I called WD Support for a replacement drive.

At first, everything seemed fine. The support staff aren't native English speakers, so it was tricky to tell them that I wanted an Advance RMA, but I eventually got it all set up. The RMA page even said they were sending me a 3TB drive, which was exciting.

Unfortunately, that's where things went wrong. It took over a week from my call for the replacement to arrive, and the one that did was about 0.6" thick (for reference, a normal 2.5" HDD is about 0.25" thick). Seeing as my laptop is about 0.7" thick including the screen, there's no way that would fit.

So I called support again and told them that it was too thick, which brought me into an hour-long call about how no, it wasn't a 3.5" drive, it was a 2.5" drive that was too thick. I was then told they'd get back to be within 48 hours over email. They did get back to me, to ask me for a picture comparing the two drives, which I sent back.

WD then shipped out a 2TB WD Blue replacement (the same model as the one I was replacing). This one was shipped with UPS Air, so it came a lot faster. However, it arrived broken. Attempting to power it up, I could heard something scraping at a regular interval, before the drive automatically powered down.

Now I'm not really sure what's happening. They want the replacements back, although I only have one label (which I used to send one of them back this week). I haven't heard anything about a third replacement.

I know it doesn't sound too terrible from this review, but I left out the details of all the times I called them and the time I spent in-call with support. It's been 24 days since I first called, and I'm still down a functional hard drive.

I'm hesitant to buy Western Digital again for fear of this support experience should whatever I buy end up failing as well. Western Digital really needs to improve its warranty replacement process, as well as its product testing. The broken 2TB replacement was sealed.

I have a 1 Tb My Passport Wireless hard drive. The internal lithium battery started to swell and the case cracked open. This was a hard drive I had purchased for my daughter so she could watch films on her iPad. I was shocked and glad this had not BURST INTO FLAMED in her bag. I have contacted WD several times through there website and not a single reply. Sorry lifelong customer lost, plus If anybody asks me this is all I will relate to them.

Refund???

I purchased a my cloud home 2 TB external storage device on the 24 Oct 2018. I realised in minutes that the item did not have a large enough capacity for my needs so called WD immediately to cancel. The lady I spoke to submitted a cancellation requested however the following day I received an email saying the item had been shipped. I was told by customer services to decline the delivery then the item would be shipped back and I would receive a full refund. I did as instructed.
I contacted WD a further 2 time as it had been over 2 weeks and I was told the item is still in transit. Due to the delay I contacted UPS directly to ask why the delay as WD had informed me they had not received the item back. Today I received an email from UPD informing me that they had actually returned the item back to WD on 1/11/2018!
I had been told on the 10th November 2018 by customer services that it was still in transit. I was originally told this again when I called today until I said I had an email from the courier that it had been delivered and who it had been delivered to. I was told that I would get a refund in 5-7 working days.
I again explained that it had already been more than 5-7 working days. I was told the information would be escalated and I would receive an email. I have had No Refund, No Communication and Repeated wrong information.
I have never actually received the product and I don't understand why I keep on being told that I will get a refund once they get the product back when its been weeks...

If I knew that the policy of this company had become so dirty,...

For several years WD is not a reliable storage. Unfortunately, I learned this too late. On their website in the blog a lot of complaints. My hard drive also stopped working without a single reason. His guarantee is still valid, but the help desk will not help you. This hardware is very unreliable and nobody will repair it. They do not do this even if you have a guarantee. If I knew that the policy of this company had become so dirty, then I would never have bought WD, I would have warned other people about this disgrace long ago.
Now I'm very sorry that not all people know about this.

Avoiding the products at all cost

After two MyBooks went down right after warranty period I too must submit that the WD is a malfunctioning product. Almost convinced WD MyBooks are designed with planned obsolescence. Do not want a 3rd strike and will be avoiding the product at all cost.

Had a 4T My Book for a few months

Had a 4T My Book for a few months. Initially everything worked fine. But, a few months down the road, computer stopped recognising the drive. The device went "offline" and stopped responding. Most amazingly, it didn't show any warning messages - I realised that it is not do backups anymore just by chance. FAQ and customer support led to nowhere. I don't know if this is a hardware or software issue, but I am pretty sure that a back-up drive by definition shouldn't have issues like this.

The bottom line: The WD is a malfunctioning product. Should be avoided.

Dreadful company

Dreadful company, I'll never buy from them again.
I bought a recertified My Passport 2TB drive directly from them.
I've had computers and ancillaries for 20 years. I formatted the drive and tried to store files there. No good. The computer recognised the drive and loaded the drivers. No use.
I tried it on a second PC in the house. Same result.
I tried to return it, under warranty, to WDC. AWFUL customer service. The shop told me to contact technical. Technical told me to contact their shop.
Round and round we go.
I've now contacted Paypal, for a refund.

I ordered from this company before I read the reviews below and am glad I did as they would have stopped me from doing so. I purchased a portable hard drive. It arrived in good time and with no problems. The packaging was good and all went well. I had no need to contact there customer service so I can't review that but that's always a good thing right. On my experience so far I would purchase from them again.

4 Stars for product but excellent customer service

Surprised at some of the comments. Yes I have WD drives that have failed outside warranty but that's fair enough. Latest was Drive with 5yr warranty failed last year. Replaced then failed again last month. Contacted WD by email and they were very helpful. The return process was easy, they created the RMA for me, posted it back to them, about £3.50 second class signed for, replacement drive returned 1 1/2 weeks later, email provided full tracking details. So 4 stars for drive reliability but full marks for customer service. I had two backups of the information on the drives so no lost data.

THE worst customer service

THE worst customer service. They make the process of getting a refund/exchange so unbarebly difficult not like anything I have ever experienced before. You have to request a code and when that doesn't work call them up, just to speak to the wrong side of the team to then speak to someone else...they then send you a return request email and you have to await further instructions...which never arrives. So, MORE phone calls to the awful WD customer service team to then wait again and again for instructions. Something that could be so simple, they manage to make very very difficult. Puzzled and for this reason will not be purchasing the new hard drive directly through WD.
