I might seem a bit of a mug

I might seem a bit of a mug, but Ihave been bought three versions of wd hard drives. one was my fault for unplugging it straight from my computer, so as WD stated it was'nt their problem.
the other two although I followed the instructions also failed due to loose conections
I really cannot see how anybody can safely use this product to store anything they want to keep.

WD HARD DRIVES are extremelly bad PLEASE DO NOT BUY IT. This is the second time that I have one. The second one I had to buy it at the Microsoft Store to backup my old computer. Now, I regret to pay 110.00 dollars and the files are corrupted. It happened with my first WD drive and it happened to my second one.

Absolutely terrible service

Absolutely terrible service
Had 2 WD RED NAS Drives fail within a couple of weeks of each other
Sent all details to the WD and they've come back saying that the drives are counterfeit and should be returned back to the retailer!
They've been sold to me by a reputable retailer so this just seems to me as a way to get out of replacing genuine drives

Their customer service is extremely slow and poor

I will not be buying ANY more WD products in future.
As soon as the last 6 drives die, i'll be replacing with Seagate Ironwolf's instead.

You Can Trust WD Hard Drives

I've been very surprised to see how many negative reviews WD hard drives have gotten here at Trustpilot. I'm a WD hard drives user for over 15 years and owned in excess of 50 WD hard drives probably. The only issue I've had was with a 2TB WD black hard drive that went dead after almost 5 years. I've contacted WD support and learned my HD was still under warranty. I've send them the broken one and received a identical replacement with identical specs. I expected the replacement HD to be a used one, but after checking with CrystalDiskInfo I learned the HD has been powered on only 2 times and had only a few power on hours so practically a brand new hard drive. This is why I felt compelled to write this review and do WD some justice. You can trust their hard drives and their promise to "back them up" (pun intended...) if something goes wrong.

WD customer support very bad

My Book Duo stopped 2,5 years after purchase to be recognized by my windows 7 PC. After contacting WD support several solutions were proposed (changing cables, power source, reformating disks etc), none of which worked but resulted only in time consuming work for me. Finally WD offered to replace the system by starting a RMA process. I received a replacement My Book Duo from Poland (different version than mine) and noticed only by then that it was a recertified Item (which means used before and repaired). Enclosed was a bill adressed to me about $ 256,-. In the RMA process I was informed that the defective My Book Duo should be sent back to WD in order to avoid charging of my credit card.
The replacement part was a disappointment from the beginning (plastic foil around case could not completely be removed since jammed between parts. a switch in the backside was not usable, a very short cable for connection to the PC was delivered). Worst thing was, however, that each time power was applied to My Book Duo drivers were repeatidly installed again and again on my PC though WD advice was closely followed to have a so called SES driver installed. So lengthy discussions with WD support started again with the final result that I should contact Microsoft to find a solution. Instead I bought a My Book Duo housing in ebay for $ 33,50 and the problem was immediatly gone. The replacement My Book Duo was therefore definitely not working properly.
I decided not to send back my defective My Book Duo since my original disks were working and I was suspicious that the recertified disks might soon stop working. Now I was informed that I would be charged with $ 372,- aginst the $ 256,- shown on my bill. My conclusion:
Forget contacting WD support. Bying a brand new My Book Duo in Germany at Amazon for $ 308,50 would have saved me money and frustration.

DON'T BUY A HOME CLOUD FROM WD

I have a Home Cloud 6TB which is less than 15 months old. It has packed up even though it is little used. The Customer Service is pretty terrible, takes 2 days to respond and does not give full advice. I have tried everything suggested but it does not work. WD close the case even though the problem is not solved. I have given up and sent the device back to be replaced or repaired. The issue is that the guarantee does not cover postage of the device back to them nor data recovery even though the device failed through no fault of ours. The software is very poor and difficult to use. overall I wish I had never spent so much money on this very poor device from this poor organisation.

Bought a recertified drive direct from…

Bought a recertified drive direct from them for my daughter. I've bought a few in the past and the only issue ever was a faulty cable which as I had a spare floating around, wasn't an issue. Have recently bought a 4TB ultra which died within a week. Raised an RMA and clicked for a returns label. Now near the end of the 11 day RMA returns deadline and still nothing, also I'm soon outside the 30 day warranty. Looks like they expect me to ship it to Poland at my own expense (£17 to £34 depending on company) when all other WD purchases are shipped back to Swindon.

Unpatriotic, but drives work fine

Honestly I'm pretty upset that they don't offer military discount but they seem to have student and senior discounts. Just seems unpatriotic. I'll check in with Seagate I guess. I only gave 2 stars because my hard drives I have now work well (6TB 7200 Pro). Though my WD ex cloud ultra seems to have fan issues after 6 months. Contacted support who asked that I update the firmware. Didn't work.

Terrible support. Avoid WD like the plague.

Bought a mycloud network drive. None of the apps will install. Support phone number is constantly engaged. i can't submit a support request online because it rejects the serial number as invalid. This is terrible support and I'm regretting the purchase already.

Please do not buy this product

Please do not buy this product, unreliable, works when it thinks it will, too much going around the houses to get you file back.
With BT Hub its a nightmare.

Eventually it gave up completely, so, I lost my files.
So glad I had it backed up on a competitors Hard Drive.

My one has gone to the local tip

WD have blocked an IP address from…

WD have blocked an IP address from accessing a My Cloud Home Duo due to suspicious activity.

This activity was to log-in and use the hard drive.

After two weeks of calling them each day, sometimes numerous calls, they still have not evolved the ability to unblock the blocked address.

Trustpilot: for WD can you introduce a less than one star review. I'll check the box below but I hope you have better luck than me getting the complaint through to somebody who cares/understands or has the competence to resolve the issue.

Purchased 1TB SSD to replace the HHD in HP desktop.
Even though WD advertise the Acronis software will clone the drive, the software does not work if internal drive is not WD.
Terrible customer support, the person who answered had no clue.
They called back after 5 hours and offered to remote in my PC and fix the issue with a patch meaning they know about the issue but is not fixing it and my guess is fora reason (are paid by Acronis since the offer the upgrade for $30).
False advertising, will never by WD again.
I solved the issue with free cloning software available online.

I bought a mycloud 3 tb to back up and…

I bought a mycloud 3 tb to back up and share files. It never worked right from the beginning. It usually required that I be at home on the same network or in most cases unplug and reboot it. It was slow uploading files. Today the website refused to take my password or let me reset it. When I finally got in touch with a live person (good luck, they want to send you to the WD community for support) I was told that my drive was failing and that I should back up my data (which was the whole idea of buying this in the first place). He said that it was not under warranty (less than one year old) so they would not replace it. That was money wasted. I will never purchase another WD product.

My cloud drive went dead 5days before…

My cloud drive went dead 5days before warranty runs out, how convenient. But managed to get a replacement via WDC wesbite and return the faulty drive.

The only issue is that I selected Advance Replacement but WDC website does not seems to work in taking credit card payment information. Ended up calling their customer service and took another hour to process it over the phone.

All in all, a good support but they need to work on their website, to a workable status.

Terrible technical support for their WD ReadyView surveillance system. They refuse to fix a confirmed (by level II techs) problem with IOS application / NVR software which renders the system useless. Alert alarms just quit working after a few hours and the entire IOS app must be deleted and reinstalled to get them working again (but for just a short time. Told me to return the unit even though there is no hardware problem !!

Do not buy WD My Book drives. Poor quality control.

Do not buy WD My Book drives. Very slow and unresponsive especially when they are nearing capacity. Also received the drive without the proper documentation in the box to be able to access the drive from My Cloud. The 9 digit code was missing from inside the box and the sticker was not on the My Book drive.
Contacted Support and they told me to ship the drive back from where I purchased it and this was the only option. Very inconvenient as the drive was purchased from the USA . Poor quality control as not supplying the 9 digit code. Avoid WD
products.
EDIT: They wanted me to RMA it to Vietnam and would pay for shipping. One problem was that the label they organised for me had the wrong name even though I supplied the correct name and contact details in an email case reference number.

Very poor customer service

Very poor customer service, My Cloud broke right after warranty period finished🙄 coincidence? Refused to extend my warranty and couldn't offer any solution except suggesting to buy a new My cloud device. Warranty was less than a year (only 6 moths) is that even legal? Oh, whatever...just stay away from this company and help others by warning them. Unless of course you don't care how safe your data is.
