Big company bullies…

We were contacted by this company claiming that we owed money for an energy bill that had been run up in August 2020 on a property we hadn't lived in since 2010. In fact there had been two other residents at the property after we sold it. This was explained to them and they duly made enquiries (that took weeks to complete) and the person actually responsible for the debt was identified.

I have two problems with the way the situation was dealt with. The first is that they obviously had not done their homework and were making false accusations. The second problem is that they did not have the decency to apologise even when they knew they had made a mistake. The operative from Wescot actually said that as they had *identified" the person who owed the money WE were "no longer liable" for the debt. Not for one second was it acknowledged that we were NEVER liable for this debt EVER.

Eon, the energy company involved, should never have passed false information to this company either. It is a disgraceful way to run a business.

They arent that bad.

They arent all that bad, here is my experience,
I got into debt, I got help from a debt management company. however somewhere down the line my debt was sold to wescot. I did not recieve loads of texts or phonecalls or letters. i recieved 1 letter and that letter was informing me that they are my new provider but as i was with a debt management company i didnt need to take any action..

those complaining about being badgered about debt maybe actually pay that debt off you will be left alone then.. its not rocket science.

very pleased.

Honestly i do not understand the bad comments saying "they don't leave me alone" etc... they are debt collectors, that's their job, little shame on me to feel offended when i took the money spend it and now what? be offended that they what the money back?
honestly, they been kind and understanding, i've made my payments, been on time and not once they texted me or sent me letters, just the confirmation that i've paid them off.
Everyone shold stop thinking they're in the good, you own money? assume it and pay it off, you don't have to pay it all at once, little by little and it's enough.... no bad words regarding them, i've been really pleased with them service.

Incompetent

Unfortunately unable to leave zero stars!
This company has literally harassed me for months. I did owe Npower £180 after changing suppliers then losing my job due to Covid. I spoke to Npower and they agreed I had until 3 Sept to pay or sort out an agreement otherwise they would 'consider' referring me to Wescot. The outstanding amount was paid in full in early August but I have been receiving about 6 letters (sometimes more) every week from mid August! (saying they had bought the debt and I owe them, including their additional fee). I contacted Npower, who were pretty clueless but said they shouldn't have even contacted me because it has been paid.. but still the letters and calls continued. I emailed Wescot and told them the debt had been paid in full why were they even contacting me (as Npower had said I had until 3 Sept!).. About a week later I received a response asking me for 'proof' of this. I reluctantly sent them a receipt for payment and a copy of the online transcript from Npower (even though surely it was THEIR job to check the records and look into it, not mine!!). Still the letters continued, I'd already blocked them from calling me.
What a totally incompetent company who clearly just hassle and hassle you, even when they're in receipt of the facts.

Sadly unable to give a zero star…

Sadly unable to give a zero star rating. Receiving mail from this company for an individual who has never lived in this house (we are the second tenant). Clearly they have not checked any electoral register! Letters arrive weekly (sometimes more) and are returned. Harassment from a clearly incompetent and ineffective company. Do not use.

Clueless and incompetent

Clueless and incompetent
Receiving many letter addressed to previous tenant who left country over a year ago. Finally decided I needed to open them and found these incredible lies.

Our enquiries have indicated you are resident at the address above , and then further down . As we have not had an update from you we have conducted additional checks including publicly available information to ensure we have the correct address details on file for you. These checks have indicated that you are resident at the address noted and as the outstanding balance.....
As I said he left the country over 12 months ago

So this review is not for customers but any companies looking to use them to chase debts. Basically they could not find a grain of sand on a beach , you have no hope with them of getting your money back , use SOMEONE else

Constant texts saying 'Further to our letter…

Constant texts saying 'Further to our letter...'
This company has never sent me a letter, so I have no idea what this is about and I will not contact this rogue company that I believe is fishing for my information using underhand tactics. I had never heard of this company until they started sending me the text messages.

Poor poor poor

Poor poor poor. That’s all i can use to describe the service I received. After sending a letter i got in contact with them through email, they told me I wasn’t able to communicate with them via email and so requested i phone them. I gave them a phone call and they refused to speak to me over the phone? So if i cannot contact you via email or phone, how am i supposed to sort my matter out? Disgraceful.

Spamming me non stop

Spamming me non stop, going to seek legal advice about harassment at this point. Blocked all their numbers yet more than 5 times a day I still get a voicemail from their stupid recorded message "press 1 if you are this person, press 2 if not." When they were unblocked I pressed 2 at least 100 times yet they still insist on calling so they got blocked, simple.

To be honest

To be honest, I'd never heard of Wescot before I received a letter from them. I owed almost £800 on my credit card and hadn't paid a penny in months, so understandable it was sent across to a debt recovery company. I've seen the other reviews and I must say my experience was completely different - I never received any emails, phone calls or texts just a few letters over the course of about 3/4 months (which I ignored haha).

I then paid the balance in full using the online pay system and everything went through fine. The only negative thing I will point out is that there is no correspondence after the payment is taken to confirm the balance has been settled. That came from my credit card company 12 days later. I was a little panicked that I had paid money to someone else's account!

Another thing to point out was that there were no additional charges added onto the amount that I owed. It was the exact balance requested by my Credit Card company

The previous reviewer had it 100% spot on. Absolutely parasites! These people call day and night multiple times a day, sending texts, letters in the post. I owed PayPal £117 which I’ve PAID and these people still keep pestering me! I don’t know what you’re aiming to achieve because all you’re doing is wasting your time and money contacting me.

This company has sent me texts the last couple of days claiming they’ve contacted me yet I haven’t had their number appear on my mobile phone. I emailed them a few times but never responded. I’ve never heard of this company until they sent me the text messages!!

This is VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE for not responding to emails, I literally have no idea what they want.

SCAM.

SCAM.

Received a call stating that I owed money and then requesting my email address and bank details! Obviously, I did not give these and hung up. Over the following 3 months I received numerous phonecalls requesting that I call them back.

After the 3 months worth of calls I answered a call and told them that if they wish to contact me again they will need to send me a letter. They then proceeded to ask for my address! I said to them that surely they will be able to access my address from their system if I owe them a debt.

This was around 2-3 months ago. Since then, I have not received any more calls as I assume they realised I will not answer. I have, however, received many, many texts stating "Further to our letter, please contact us..." but still no letter! Obviously not, as they don't hold my address, or email address, or bank card details, as this is a scam.

I blocked one of the numbers that they used so since then I receive less texts, however, they continue to send threatening texts from another number which I now continue to ignore.

Please do not fall for this scam.

I'm so not surprised by these negative reviews! They actually used a company to track my address down for the sake of £38! Clearly this company are struggling and need every penny they can get 🤣 sad thing is they're hassling me despite me telling them I've been unwell in hospital.
