All these debt companies buy your debt…

All these debt companies buy your debt purely for profit they pay 10% for the debt but charge you 100% and send threatening letters with frightening words that say they are coming for your TV.
They should be helping poorer and with health problems and not hounding them.
Why can't they just ask you to pay what they paid 10%, if they can buy your debt why can't we by our own debt for 10%.
Answer the letters sooner please and accept those offers

This was from the email I just wrote to Wescot.....
Dear Wescot,

I just wanted to say how very thankful and grateful I am for how this debt was dealt with by your excellent team and now that it is finally cleared and the account closed I will never ever have a credit card again in my life. Simply because I cannot be trusted with a credit card!!

So thank you very much for your superior service and for helping me to finally clear this debt off my list of debts.

I'm being generous with a 2..

I'm being generous with a 2..

Received a threatening letter about debt recovery action. Called them up to find out what was going on and it turns out they were chasing the wrong person. Brilliant.

Said it "shouldn't" show up on my credit report.

Fools.

Gave them the generous 2 as they sorted it out quickly.

sinking lower than pond life

wescot credit services should be closed down for fraud, i was doing a investigation on my account and i found out that wescot was pretending to work on behalf of halifax bank where in fact they should have been acting on behalf of cabot financial. looks like these debt purchasing companies wants you to believe that your debt has not been sold to them and wants you to believe the account still belongs to the original creditor, this is the only way they can get you to hand over your hard earned cash and get you to pay. you would honestly think the money was going to the original creditor and not the debt purchaser. i had loads of threatening and red letters from them. i hope the owners of wescot go to jail and rot till they die.

Worst way of collecting money ever

Worst way of collecting money ever. Started getting recorded messages to my Voicemail everyday for a week from Wescot. Just comes across as a scam then today received a letter for full payment or else!!
This debt has arisen because someone hacked my PayPal account to buy computer games, luckily I stopped the payment going out of my bank account and canceled my direct debit to PayPal. Next a refund from PayPal turns up in my bank account!!!
I have no problem with returning this money (its not mine!) but straight away PayPal have I assume sold this to Wescot who are now bombarding me with phone calls and prosecution letters.
I will try to sort this out with PayPal as Wescot just come across as a scam and if you check on the internet they are not held in high esteem.

Definitely a scam

Definitely a scam. Two letters were delivered to my property, addressed to a person who I have never heard of and definitely hasn't lived here for at least 20 years - because only I have! The letters claim this person has an unsettled PayPal debt. In case of fraud, I just checked my own PayPal and eBay accounts and there is nothing wrong, and I have had no messages from either company. I will now look for appropriate bodies to report Wescot to - the police / Action Fraud, or the ombudsman, etc.

Another company chasing statued barred…

Another company chasing statued barred debts. Any debts after 6 years is classed as statued barred so don't pay anything. As long as you haven't made any payments within the 6 year period they can't do anything and make u pay. End of seek legal advise. This company is shocking and should be shut down as there unlawful.

Big company bullies…

We were contacted by this company claiming that we owed money for an energy bill that had been run up in August 2020 on a property we hadn't lived in since 2010. In fact there had been two other residents at the property after we sold it. This was explained to them and they duly made enquiries (that took weeks to complete) and the person actually responsible for the debt was identified.

I have two problems with the way the situation was dealt with. The first is that they obviously had not done their homework and were making false accusations. The second problem is that they did not have the decency to apologise even when they knew they had made a mistake. The operative from Wescot actually said that as they had *identified" the person who owed the money WE were "no longer liable" for the debt. Not for one second was it acknowledged that we were NEVER liable for this debt EVER.

Eon, the energy company involved, should never have passed false information to this company either. It is a disgraceful way to run a business.

They arent that bad.

They arent all that bad, here is my experience,
I got into debt, I got help from a debt management company. however somewhere down the line my debt was sold to wescot. I did not recieve loads of texts or phonecalls or letters. i recieved 1 letter and that letter was informing me that they are my new provider but as i was with a debt management company i didnt need to take any action..

those complaining about being badgered about debt maybe actually pay that debt off you will be left alone then.. its not rocket science.

very pleased.

Honestly i do not understand the bad comments saying "they don't leave me alone" etc... they are debt collectors, that's their job, little shame on me to feel offended when i took the money spend it and now what? be offended that they what the money back?
honestly, they been kind and understanding, i've made my payments, been on time and not once they texted me or sent me letters, just the confirmation that i've paid them off.
Everyone shold stop thinking they're in the good, you own money? assume it and pay it off, you don't have to pay it all at once, little by little and it's enough.... no bad words regarding them, i've been really pleased with them service.

Incompetent

Unfortunately unable to leave zero stars!
This company has literally harassed me for months. I did owe Npower £180 after changing suppliers then losing my job due to Covid. I spoke to Npower and they agreed I had until 3 Sept to pay or sort out an agreement otherwise they would 'consider' referring me to Wescot. The outstanding amount was paid in full in early August but I have been receiving about 6 letters (sometimes more) every week from mid August! (saying they had bought the debt and I owe them, including their additional fee). I contacted Npower, who were pretty clueless but said they shouldn't have even contacted me because it has been paid.. but still the letters and calls continued. I emailed Wescot and told them the debt had been paid in full why were they even contacting me (as Npower had said I had until 3 Sept!).. About a week later I received a response asking me for 'proof' of this. I reluctantly sent them a receipt for payment and a copy of the online transcript from Npower (even though surely it was THEIR job to check the records and look into it, not mine!!). Still the letters continued, I'd already blocked them from calling me.
What a totally incompetent company who clearly just hassle and hassle you, even when they're in receipt of the facts.

Sadly unable to give a zero star…

Sadly unable to give a zero star rating. Receiving mail from this company for an individual who has never lived in this house (we are the second tenant). Clearly they have not checked any electoral register! Letters arrive weekly (sometimes more) and are returned. Harassment from a clearly incompetent and ineffective company. Do not use.
