Wickes - Oxford Reviews 

This review is for Red Dragon Oxford, the company that ripped out and replaced our large kitchen, including entirely replacing old flooring across the whole downstairs (formerly a very tired old tile) with lovely new underfloor heating and LVT flooring, upgrading our circuit breakers and a nice fresh paint job too.

Let me first say, Simon and his team hit a MASSIVE roadblock on day 1 when they discovered a historic problem with the concrete beneath the floor of the extended part of the house (something the inspection back then had missed, it precedes us as owners, former workman error it seems!) and they were faced the problem of ripping up the lot down to the base, replacing damp proof course and building up a brand new floor. This is something none of us were expecting and Simon was quick to reassure us that there was no question, they would stay and do the extra work. Which...well you can imagine how grateful we were! They were still able to finish the job in a very timely way despite this, and it's top notch, we are so so happy with it.

The tiling and worktops by Andrei are, chefs kiss! Immaculate! My husband had a clear vision for the arrangement of colours and Andrei nailed it spot on! I will share pictures if I can figure out how.

Adam and Jamie upgraded all the electrics and there was a lot to do, Max worked on all the plumbing, fantastic job all round and they were always so happy to talk things through with us as well.

Of course we have to say a huge thank you to Alex and all involved in the flooring because that was a truly epic undertaking and it's turned out great, they've managed to make the inspection hole accessible in a way that is practically invisible, and the underfloor heating works beautifully, we have toasty feet now right on time for Christmas.

I have to comment on just how clean and tidy the team were. Even when our house was an enormous building site with a pile of rubble in the middle of it, they managed to keep everything contained such that we could live cleanly and at ease in the rest of the house (a big concern of mine with a young child running around!)

A final comment to thank Melissa from Wickes for her help designing the kitchen and in her communication and navigating things.

The design consultant Melissa could not have been more helpful. She was very efficient and came up with great ideas for my new, pink and grey, bathroom. I did have some problems with delivery of some of the items, which was not Wickes fault, but Melissa was on it and everything was resolved. All the products I bought are of good quality and my builder was very happy with them.

Big shout out to Kristy, always bubbly, bright and friendly, always super helpful. Always leave in a better mood after being served by her!

I liked how Wickes kept us up to date with the delivery of the kitchen, however the panel ends and part of the worktop were missing from the delivery so held up the kitchen being finished! I had to contact Wickes on various occasions to chase them for the delivery of the bits that were missing!
The other hiccup is It’s 8 weeks tomorrow since the installation start day and we still have rubbish sitting in our drive for collection! Wickes have promised to get this moved

@Red dragon the installation company were fantastic, Alex the installer was very efficient making sure that they cleaned up as they went! He was articulate and made sure the job in hand was done professionally. All the other guys from electrician, plasterers and plumbers were all brilliant. Simon the owner was superb with communication and never kept us waiting for a response on any queries raised also Tracy in the office was fantastic too. I’d certainly recommend Red Dragon again.

Chris the designer from Wickes was very helpful and knowledgeable. The kitchen renovation itself took longer than expected, mainly because there was a damaged worktop that had to be replaced. There were a few other small issues with the fitting but Simon from Red Dragon ensured that these were all remediated quickly.

We just had our kitchen fitted by Wickes ( Oxford). The kitchen was fitted by Red Dragon.
Simon and his team of fitters completed on time and we are very pleased with the results.
We were however disappointed with Wickes around not supplying the sink as it was out of stock, only found out when it didn’t arrive on delivery day. The designer made some errors in the initial measurements, design which resulted with infill panels in places which could have been a larger cupboard or wine rack etc. The pelmits and cornices wasn’t added to the initial order by the designer so we had to pay extra for these so kitchen could be completed.
The nominated customer service contact was non existent and only responded to our emails after the kitchen had been completed when he wanted us to sign off the fitting. His excuse was he was behind on his emails.

In summary we are happy with the Kitchen and the fitting side but felt dealing with Wickes at times was frustrating.

I’ve given 5 stars despite a few issues because overall we are REALLY happy. We ordered a bathroom from Wickes and found our designer Claire Assis very helpful and can-do - we’d been told by another firm that we wouldn’t be able to do what we wanted, but she said it could be done. Red Dragon were our installers and decorators and the quality of their workmanship and their responsiveness have been absolutely excellent. The issues have been about a few breaks in the work, which I consider normal, and a problem getting all the kit ordered for the agreed start date - this didn’t happen and caused additional quite painful delays. If I were doing it again I would chase Wickes much harder about the deliveries and would keep a tighter eye on what was happening when - I would also not go away on holiday thinking things would start if we weren’t there. But overall - we have a great bathroom and a wonderful finish on all the decorating, and that’s what we wanted.

We recently had our bathroom fully refitted with a new bath, shower, sink, toilet, and tiling, and we’re absolutely delighted with the results. The team at Wickes in Oxford was incredibly helpful throughout the design process, offering great advice and making everything straightforward.

We needed the installation to align with the fitting of new windows and to be completed before Christmas, and the schedule was handled smoothly. The contractors, Red Dragon Home Improvements Ltd, were polite, professional, and hardworking from start to finish.

The bathroom looks fantastic, and we’re really enjoying the new space. Highly recommended!

Approachable and helpful

I put in an order for a kitchen , sitting room units and dining room units . Melissa helped me design it all. She was very knowledgable , super efficient and helped me to keep it within my budget . Melissa helped enormously when an item was missing and she followed it all up and I’m really happy with the quality and most certainly the service. If you’re planning to get and design a new kitchen I couldn’t recommend Melissa highly enough .

We are renovating a house we have recently purchased and have ordered a new kitchen from Wickes (Milton in Sage Green). There was a good promotional deal running making the kitchen affordable for us. We have been assisted in the process by design consultant Melissa Hartle who has been extremely helpful, flexible, and patient in meeting all of our requirements. Our kitchen is quite small and awkwardly shaped/arranged and Melissa's design was very good in maximising the kitchen storage and functionality and optimising it aesthetically whilst also accommodating the somewhat idiosyncratic features of our room. She was also warm, kind, and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend her as a design consultant. We have quite a tight deadline to get into our house and are therefore unable to use the Wickes installation service who are not available at short notice so we are not able to comment on the installation service from Wickes.

The good stuff:
The kitchen itself is very nice quality. The designer Chris was quite helpful, and took quite a lot of time to help me craft the final design.

The fitters, Simon and Red Dragon, were great. In particular, Florin, who did most of the installation, did a wonderful job and was very attentive to my wishes.

A major issue was getting installers assigned in the first place. Due to some internal error at Wickes, I was not properly assigned an installer, which I only found out after the kitchen was delivered, forcing me to wait an extra 1.5 months before installation actually began. Some items were also missing which caused a slight delay when installation actually began.

Overall, a good experience at the start and end, with a very long wait in the middle!

I set up and run a local community garden and was contacted by Michelle, from Wickes Oxford Community Project. She kindly donated a number of boxes of bonemeal and accessories for our waterbutts, which we have used to prepare for the next seasons. Michelle and her team were really friendly and she was very helpful in providing support for our community project. An asset to Wickes and would recommend the store.

My "Wicks headed cardholder receipt, showing value of item, date and time of purchase was not accepted as proof of purchase by Marcus, acting store manager, at Wicks Botley Rd Oxford. It is difficult to understand why in particular as it was a Wicks branded product The item was in original packaging and returned within 14 days of purchase. Marcus said this cardholder copy did not specify the name of item purchased, which he said was required for him to circle and it did not also show which till was used. Customer services have not responded to my enquiry made last month.

Luca has been amazing in helping us design our new bathroom, his attention to detail and listening to what we want and finding what we wanted was brilliant, a real credit to Wickes

Melissa did a great job of helping us to design a new kitchen. She was very knowledgeable, and made some excellent suggestions to help us make good use of the available space. She was also quick to follow up with a quote, which she explained clearly.

Tackley Village Memorial Hall was very pleased to accept a donation of 7.5 litres of gloss paint, 25. Litres of white paint and two buckets of patio grout.
We are going to redecorate the entrance hall of the village so we can have an exhibition of the Roman Mosaic which was recently found in Tackley.
