Wriver, s Burea have given me lots of good,sound advice during my short time with them, helping me at least be understandable to others.

The course is very comprehensive and informative. It covers many areas of writing including non fiction and fiction. My tutor is a published author and I always receive feedback that is detailed and helpful. I can submit my assignments by email or post and it's good to have the choice.

Some of the course material and the assignements have been very helpful to me. They have challenged me and given me good ideas as to how to think through and plan stories. However, the feedback to assignments is pretty minimal and my limericks didn't win the limerick competition despite being considerably better than those that did!

The Writers Bureau is one of the leading home study course providers for writers of any genre and beyond. Quality materials, totally professional tutors who are there to help and guide you. All this is coupled with a great student services department. Can't thank them enough.

I completed the Proofreading and Copy Editing Course earlier this year, with excellent support from the tutor. Full, comprehensive responses to my submissions, with a friendly attitude.

Even when I moved to another city and changed address they still reached me.

A very good introduction to the world of proofreading and copy-editing. The course materials were clear and engaging, and feedback from my tutor always prompt and constructive. Great to receive my certificate at the end of the course!

I found some errors in the course - proofreading errors.
I felt that module 7 was very outdated, teaching us what a PDF is etc.

I read about this course in an advert from one of the 'broadsheet' newspapers' magazine supplements. There was a box which listed a FREEPOST postal service to request a prospectus, but nowhere in the advert was there an address.
On the website, there was an address, as well as a Freephone telephone number (to be fair this was also on the advert), which I rang.
The person who answered it had the personality of a vacuum. He didn't seem to be interested in me, or why I was calling. When I said that I wanted to order a prospectus he asked for which course. Neither the advert, or, on a quick glance the home page, was there listed anything other than your creative writing course. On asking what other courses there were his reply was, 'Lots.' He did, however, offer to send out a prospectus for every course.
After the phone call I looked at the homepage again. I then discovered the 'Other Writing Courses' button. It wasn't at the top where logic says that it should be (alongside 'About Us'; 'Student Stories'; 'Expert Opinions'), but below the 'Enrol Now'; Student of the Year testimony; 'Creative Writing FAQs'; 'Student Community' and 'The Association of Freelance Writers' buttons. Not an exactly eye-catching place to put what you do. Remember the homepage is where you should 'sell' your wares without difficulty to the prospective customer -
The whole web-site looks dated and completely uninspiring and, in my opinion, reflects the attitude of the telephone operator.

The course was excellent and the tutor and admin always helpful.

My certificate went astray but another has been sent out and will hopefully be with me soon. The course opened my eyes into proofreading and copy editing - I previously thought it was just a case of making sure there were no spelling mistakes! I have used my new skills at work already.

I have enjoyed my experience using The Writers Bureau. This is a service providing a range of courses and services for every level of budding writer from novice to experienced, on a range of subjects from poetry, novel-writing to radio and TV.

Everything worthwhile is hard work and there have been times when I lapsed into self-doubt. But my tutor and the online student services helpdesk were brilliant, encouraging and advising me when needed, and answering all my questions in a straightforward and non-judgemental way.
